      Agree!! Only an idiot would do that. The time, this blue thing came, was something. I remember new Pioneer home stereosystems with blue display. I was ready to kill to get one. I had Pioneer KEH-5800 car stereo. It was a freakin cool thing to have.

    I can see all these people whining about a changed color scheme and wonder. Why are you bashing at him for such thing? It's just a matter of preference. The tutorial itself is great. both, clear and detailed. And you can change to stronger LEDs of ANY color. it's not like it won't work of you keep the previous color scheme but with stronger LEDs...

    At the time this video was filmed, your odometer reading was 240K. I'm interested in understanding what major maintenance has been done to the vehicle to sustain its reliability. Would you mind making a video about this topic or replying to this comment with that information? I see in a couple of your videos that you performed a lot of cosmetic maintenance that does not necessarily fall into the category of sustained reliability, but is still nice to have, and was performed with a high degree of care and attention to detail which I also appreciate. I'm the original owner and only driver of a 2004 VW GTI VR6. The car has 151K miles currently and my intent is to keep it running reliably for 300K miles. This of course requires a lot of maintenance. I'm prioritizing everything under the hood and undercarriage first, for reliability purposes. Cosmetics will be second in a couple years.

      +bunkerbuster its all about the taste, we like it white and bright, it is still dimmable, we just wanted to show the process of changing them, you dont have to change the color, now you know how to change faulty ones

    I changed my leds too, but i did it with the actual size like the original ones, i thought they won't be so bright like yours, but i was wrong. They are damn too bright, even when it's dimmed to the lowest setting. Maybe you have some suggestions how to make it a bit darker?

    • @DIYGarageProjects
      @DIYGarageProjects  Před 7 lety

      +Arnas Stanionis there is a way, you can find a pin on your dash that is used to power the led, and put a resistor in between the dash and 12v wire, that way you can choose the default brightness of dash only and still use regular car dimmer to dimm them even more

    i want you plz to ask u one question; my led of oil doen"t appear when the level of oil is low, is there a solution to solve this issue, or i must change the hole dashboard, thk u for your answer; FYI: when i turn the key before starting uo all led appear also the one of oil, my pb is when the level is low

    • @DIYGarageProjects
      @DIYGarageProjects  Před 8 lety

      You probably dont have to change the hole dashboard, eather the led burnt or oil level sensor needs replacement, its not a big deal, you can anways check oul level from time to time, my oil led is working, but i still check oil in my car every now and then, thanks for watching :)

    Eye Doctors report that little extra brightness in white lights helps prevent pupils from fully dilating, helping your eyes adjust better to those hideous LED headlights that blind everybody. Also love the fact I can read my dash during the daylight. Great job on the video so where do you get the work light for savaging white leds?

    I tried But left side wont work, right is ok. I didn’t check the polaraty before taking the blues off. Do you have a scheme of polaraty, I need it to fix the problem, otherwise I need to order a new one...

    • @DIYGarageProjects
      @DIYGarageProjects  Před 5 lety +1

      I dont have a schematic anymore but you could dissasemble the dash and connect it back on the car and turn your lights on and check the polarity with a multimeter

    Better blue plasma, with 10€ you buy 100 of them, i changed in a passat and bmw and the result is awesome.
    Combined red(audi) with blue plasma, the result is like a luxury car.

    Great video. If I tried it, I guarantee the lcd numerical display would never display correctly, tried it with a watch once. Useless afterwards. Would've been nice to see the dash display brightness dimmed to see how much they could be dimmed tho.

    You do know different colors of LED's have different power requirements right?
    Doing an LED swap in this half-assed fashion is a good way to have a cluster that lights up only partially at best.
