How To Install/Remove Backing Pad On Harbor Freight 2" Orbital Sander

  • This is how to install & remove the hook & loop backing pad on a Central Pneumatic 2 Inch Orbital Sander from Harbor Freight. It probably applies to other similar small orbital sanders as well. The instructions that came with tool are terrible, and don't even tell you how to do this that I could find. The backing pad screws on, but you need to use the tool that came with the sander, to hold the chuck in place, so you can actually screw the backing pad on. And also to remove the backing pad.

      You are the only person I trust on this matter (lol). I've searched, watched, and liked your videos. How do I find and replace this part on a Schwinn front (or for that matter rear) wheel? i.imgur.com/k4QyX5O.jpg That's a bearing race, but do they call it a 'cup'? Where do I find a new one?

    • @RJTheBikeGuy
      @RJTheBikeGuy  Před 2 lety +1

      @@TheFogLakeshore The cups aren't generally replaceable. A few models of hubs had replaceable cups, but the replacements are impossible to get. Replace the hub.

    • @TheFogLakeshore
      @TheFogLakeshore Před 2 lety

      @@RJTheBikeGuy Thank you for confirming this. It's so confusing, they do sell axles with the cups, but no cups I can find and well... these ones aren't coming out lol. I got new rims and I'll keep these for a hub replacement later.

    Thank you for posting this! I just bought the damn thing and couldn't figure out how to tighten the backing pad. You weren't kidding when you said the instructions are useless. My eye sight isn't great so I didn't even see the tiny hole where the rod goes in to. I kept putting into the Allen screw. LOL! Thanks again!

    Thanks so much for this video! I noticed that the instructions were lacking as well, and I was at a loss as to how to change the pad, since the hooks got damaged as I was sanding very organic geometry. This totally clears it all up! Thanks again.

    Bit of non-sequitur here, but RJ THANK YOU for your videos. I watched your basic suntour fork tear down over and over; then I dove in and and tore down my son's suntour fork that was not moving. Bought some slick honey, cleaned and de-rusted everything. Put it back together and boing, boing, boing, it worked like it was brand new. Couldn't have done it without your videos. Thanks again.

    Not quite the same level, but I'm doing a bit of DIY too, I'm trying to come up with a bracket to mount a front full fender on my bike with no mounting points anywhere. P-clips work fine as mounting points, I'm working on the bridge.
    Managed to find a bottle cage adapter that is the right length and is going to be the perfect fender bridge after some modifications. Tinkering is fun :)
    Good to have you back RJ! You inspired me a lot to work on my bike and get my own tools.
