  • Something in this Continental Engine has gone blewy.
Just a head gasket? A crack in the head? The block!?
Let's tear it down and find out.

So, the Massey, too, has received a visit from that old French painter, Too Loose Lautrec. He visited the valve train (I think he used to travel on trains) on both my old car & my riding mower. He gets around pretty good for a dead guy. I enjoy watching work on the tractor. There is a Tractor Club in my area that has quite a few members, a few are my friends, & they mostly focus on older/antique tractors. They usually have a show of them each year along with the antique/classic car show in the nearby town of Waynesboro, PA. Traffic is blocked from the downtown area -- one block east & west of the town square -- & it's one big hootenanny for about 6-8 hours. I did take notice that the Humble Mechanic was missing but that's okay. Don't hasten it if you're not ready -- things tend to get a bit messy when you do that. See ya later!

Waynesboro PA? Wow, I spent several years there in the early 80s...coolest hardware store ever was Beck & Benedict? Think it was in the town square, had to be over a hundred years old, never forget it, great memories of that area

Beck & Benedict's was quite an old store. It is now a tattoo parlor. Located on the corner of South Potomac & West Main. Back in the 20's or thereabouts, a gas pump was on the corner. At some point it was removed because they thought it might be hazardous -- imagine that.@@paulreft7133

Correction to my last reply. To be specific, Beck & Benedict was not exactly on the corner. It was the next building over towards the square. The place now is called the Crispy Biscuit -- a quaint little eatery. @@paulreft7133

Great job doing your diagnosis. I suspect head gasket also. As troublesome as removing that hood is, I suspect that it had never been removed.

Nice seeing that old girl back, I enjoy old tractors and seeing people work on them, I'm sure you'll get her back on her feet! Thanks for sharing this job with us! God bless! Btw, you had us all sweating waiting for your Sunday video 😅 we're a spoiled bunch here! 😅

Good clean schtuff. Those Continental engines are tough.

Basics: condensation, head gasket, cracked head, and cracked block are the main culprits to check. The head gasket has the lead as the main problem so far. Wish you had time to drop by and say Hi when you were here in We che ta LOL.
