Man these videos are awesome, I'm a young guy just learning welding now, I'd always dreamed of making my own car but never really thought it was possible but after seeing your work I'm inspired

Nice video. Polishing was quicker than I expected. Just sand and buff twice. : ) Mahalo for sharing!

I always enjoy these videos. I may never be able to build my own car but, besides being interesting, they inspire me with my own art. Thank you for taking the time to make them.

Love the updates. Do a video update on which car you're working on now and fill the gaps since your last big update video. Love the tips though. I feel like this channel should be at least at 2 mil.

I've always figured polishing aluminium of all the soft metals is a bit of an art. You can polish it, yes, but only those who've done it till their hands bleed, have figured out how to get it just perfect, that smooth surface that doesn't have imperfections, doesn't show grains, and in the light, makes the item/object you've polished, almost shimmer.

    •  Před 4 lety +3

I definitely started with an easy work piece in this video. I will do another where I’ll polish out welds in the fenders. The majority of the process is the same with the exception of more sanding work...

Great work and most folks would be too timid to take that course of a grit to that pretty surface but it does save time and even it out. I have a question I have asked a couple times but never heard back. Since these cars are not kits and not rebuilds how do you title these to be registered? Thanks!

I didn't hear you say. But people should know the finer the sand paper or buffing pad you use, use Less pressure as you go.

O.K. Polishing aluminium is a pretty well known process but, as I asked before, how do you KEEP you costly bespoke car shiny? Do you have to polish it a couple of times a year for it to shine or do you just let it oxydize slowly to a matt grey? Thanks for the video.

Your respirator is missing the particulate filter pad that go over the organic filters along with the plastic caps that hold them in place. You are NOT protecting yourself. A p100 filter would be even better.

I guess the finish comes down to the quality of the Aluminum, I know from experience from the various motorcycles Ive own European alloys ( Ducati, Moto Guzzi and Laverda) were always far better quality then American, referring to my numerous Harley's Ive owned.

Can you give some advice how to remove paint from an aluminium body before polishing it? I have a Caterham and I want to strip the paint and polish it

    •  Před měsícem +1

I know the aircraft guys use a specific stripper that's safe for aluminum. I do not know exactly what it's Called though. I bet "Aircraft Spruce" would have some info!

I like the look of aluminium and stainless steel and such, but I think polished aluminium is silly. It's so tacky, plus it's distracting and blinding which can be a safety hazard.

    •  Před 4 lety +1

@ I hope I didnt come across as sarcastic because I didn't mean to. Part of my frustration is that I don't hear very well, I'm 66 and not getting any younger. I have a laptop I watch your video's fed to my TV. I've noticed some channels are very loud and some very low, I wish CZcams would get things sorted. Wouldn't you think with the technology they have this wouldn't be an issue?

    •  Před 4 lety

Why polish, blind all other road users ...

    •  Před 4 lety +2

Not true. Ever been blinded by a polished Stainless dairy truck? Didn’t think so. The car has no flat surface for reflection to actually work the way you claim it would. Unlike say, the flat windshield of a Jeep Wrangler or G wagen which both are know to cause dangerous reflections from the sun (I know, I’ve owned them). Here’s a tip, take a compound curved piece of polished aluminum, go out on a nice sunny day and see how that reflection hits you...
