- Former Colchester, Bristol City, Peterborough and current Blackburn Rovers player, Sammie Szmodics is our special guest on No Tippy Tappy Football.
Sammie Szmodics sits down alongside Sam Allardyce & Natalie Pike to discuss all things football from his phenomenal season to what the future holds for the Championship golden boot winner.
The Blackburn bagsman talks about how he’s taken on the main man role at the club, the devastation he felt when Jon Dahl Tomasson left the club as well how John Eustace changed the mentality this season.
Sammie and Sam also chat about growing up as a West Ham fan, the job David Moyes has done at the club and how Sammie still finds time in his busy schedule to watch the hammers up and down the country.
They then talk in depth about what the future holds for the Irish international and why people shouldn’t begrudge him for potentially chasing a dream move to the Premier League.
Finally Sammie mentions how good ‘generational talent’ Adam Wharton really is, his joy of winding up opposition fans and how underrated the Blackburn vs Burnley East Lancashire Derby is.
All of this and more in the latest episode of the No Tippy Tappy Football series, brought to you by William Hill.

Sam Allardyce and Sammie Szmodics..two names that Blackburn Rovers fans love 💙
As a Blackburn fan be gutted to see him go but he deserves it. Seen many a player come and go but Sammie will always be a legend to me for what he did this season 🔵⚪️
We would have been relegated without this fella's goals. Love you, Sammy.
As a Rover, I truly hope he stays, but if he gets a Prem move I'd wish him nothing but the best of luck 🔵⚪
Sammie please stay mate, a club legend
Super Sammie smzodic, single handedly kept us up ,33 goals for a team what finished 19th is insane, how he didn’t get championship player of year is a disgrace
Sammie what a player my hero 💙👊🏽
Love Sammy, please stay at Rovers. You will become a club legend. You are better than either Armstrong or Brereton.
With Eustace next season we will go up with you.
9:40, Sam talking about new owners sacking managers for no reason, "it happens" was definitely a dig at the Venkys and there horrendous decision to sack him 🥴
you deserve everything that comes your way Sammie!!
Thank you for everyrhing mate.
as a blackburn I would hate to see him go but he has earnt it more than most
What an absolutely blinding brilliant chat. Best 1hr 1 min listening.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great Work, Big Sam, Natalie and Sammie
As a Blackburn supporter, if he goes to a PL club, good luck to him. Nobody could begrudge him a move after what he has done for us this year but of course, I hope he stays and does the business for us again next season. All I will say is the rest of the team needs a revamp without a doubt.
Class work getting this lad on. Excited to see what other guests come in for the Euros 🔥
Sammi don’t go. One of my favs ever 💙 absolute star this year 🥰
Absolute legend this mon 🔵⚪🌹 whatever happens in the summer 🫡
Tells a good story. The rivalry between us and dingles intense.
What a player. Please stay and if you don't just make sure it's the right move for you and not just for the sake of the prem. You will always be a rovers legend
Great interview! Interesting comments on JDT. Hope Szmods gets his Prem move to a team that plays to his strengths.
Quality player. Always gave Charlton the runaround when he was at Posh.
What a top class man 🫡
Sam any chance of going for the ireland job. You started your career at limerick please finiah woth the national team 🙏
What a baller . Gonna miss him so much
class watch / listen, but how many times does Big Sam say 'Like Ya Mean' 🤣😅
Get in super Sammie szmodics 💙
Going to miss super sammie he is a once in a lifetime player for our club🔵⚪
Sammie means so much to us Colchester fans! One of our own! 💙🤍💙
Thank you so much for him
@@Confidious It's really good to see how well he is doing and how much he has progressed.
The comment Sam made about Moyes’e and a small section of fans is like what happened to Sam at Blackburn. Fans be careful what you wish for. No way would we have been relegated with Sam in charge
Top lad Sammie, couldn't deny him a move to the Premier League, just hope we get a decent fee. Still wake up with cold sweats some nights over that effort v Luton during the penultimate season tho 😆
Fair play samuel😂 good luck in the prem 🌹💙🤍💛❤
Erm well not very many at all English born players that play within top sides in Epl > or managers
Can't lie and say think he's a bit of a knob on the pitch shushing the fans etc when he's scored but every team needs that and off it he's a class act and a top guy
Sammy smodz baby ….. poshie and proud
Eustace saying the players will get 3 days off if they beat Sheff Wednesday clearly didn't work 😂😂
If we get offered good money I wouldn’t begrudge Sammie getting a Premier League move, IF, the owners let us use the Sammie and Wharton money. If they don’t, I’ll be devastated.
Never have I wished a player all the best on moving from us .. he deserves a premier league move and goes with best wishes … Venkys won’t give us any of the money to spend though
Could be a real goal threat for ireland
Just do one more season or compete until january!
Then adios amigo and good luck!
We are a selling club, but this club belongs in the premier league and we should proritise that.
Welcome to Leicester ?
Big Sam , dont look now , a Brown envelope stashed full £50's under the table.
Love big sam. Rovers fan
Would have him back anytime
Get back too Blackburn big sam
Anyone looked at his stats before Blackburn. 💩
Because he was playing in a different role are u thick☠️ did u watch the podcast he litt says it in this episode
Hes shite mate saw him live v Belgium and Switzerland hes found his club and level
@@Donatello-br4fd33 goals in the Championship.
“He’s shite”
🤡
Club legend🔵⚪️🌹🫡
💙🤍🌹
I don’t think I would have been to happy if I was one of his team mates.
He might have scored loads of goals, but there are 10 more players in a team.
He seem like a nice lad, but it wasn’t exactly entertaining or humorous!
What are you referring to?
@@Charlie.c19 Hi Charlie, I don’t think he particularly gave any credit, to the other 10 men the team.
I think also, no one would blame him going to a Prem team, but somethings are better not said till they happen, it could cause jealousies within the team & is not particularly conducive to teamwork.
I think we know who the worst manager was.
I would love to see big sam as next rep of ireland manager
Are you joking
@@Rasher1974 why not
@@darrenroche9225 A bit behind the times and somewhat up his own.
@@Rasher1974 yea I suppose the last few years were amazing, with a modern coach , alladyce knows how to set teams up against stronger ones , he knows how to get the best out of his players and he can adapt with players .
@@darrenroche9225 Never got the Kenny thing because he just didn't understand the meaning of flexibility
In addition to his total lack of nous regarding international football, as for Sam he was caught out in the England job because of his lack of integrity, it's possible to integrate both modern technologies and old fashioned shut up shop methods when appropriate it's always a balance but as a coach my mantra was always win first and entertain second if you can do both fine, even Man City go long when its needed.
Nice to hear from you we both want the same I'm sure, I've been a BIG supporter ( not just a follower) for over 50 years and can remember us being in the backwoods of international football for years mainly because of the amatuers running the FAI blazers who sucked the organisation dry, sorry getting carried away in the past we have had good players who performed far better for their clubs than for us why is that, lack of planning organisation and treating players to second class seats on away trips on aeroplanes I could go on that's why I would never accept someone like SAM A.
He's not Irish
Don't be so negative, if he wants to play for the country his grandmother is from, we should be so lucky to have him! He's a quality player and a good attitude too
@@johngranahan6102 we've enough talent at home to be looking over the Hedge
@@bravojohnny3199 Respectfully we absolutely don't! If we put together a team solely from the Irish league featuring solely players born in the republic of Ireland (since that would be home soil and home country of birth) we'd get nowhere, with guys like Sammie putting on the green jersey the next generation of Irish players watching him are more tolerant, more interested in soccer and they'll have the bonus of knowing that if they do go abroad, they won't be forgotten about if they decide to play for Ireland.
@@johngranahan6102 respectively as you say.. its bad mindset to calm evidence without proper examples of say failed culture.. Rugby set a prime example for national team/league to follow, albeit in a football context
@@bravojohnny3199 without respect, I didn't say respectively. I used a different word respectfully! Second rugby is a sport which has benefited massively from foreign influence and players not born in Ireland so I'm glad we agree that people not born in Ireland should absolutely be able to represent us.
