Robson was a one-man team. Phenomenal all-action midfielder, he could pass, shoot, head, score. And what a ferocious tackler, the ultimate hardman. And, if all of this wasn't enough, the most influential captain on the field I have seen. When Robbo demanded, his teammates responded. At his peak would be worth 150-200 milllion at today's prices. Rice, as competent as he is, is a pale shadow of Robson in his prime. He can only dream of aspiring to the heights of one of England's greatest players. What Utd would give to have Robbo in today's spoiled, overhyped, overpaid, underperforming team.
i was born in 1974 and robbo was my first hero as a kid watching united and still my fave united player ever , what i would give to see robbo parter mainoo now .
Good post ! Same. I'm 56, Robbo was my first hero and favorite player for United. I remember him walking out at OT and thinking, now that's a player..... Other players idolised hm to. Quiet master.
Robbo at the peak of his powers was absolutely up there with the very best players in the world. His power, competitiveness, drive and ability were awesome when you saw him play. He could kick Maradona off the park, finish as well as Boniek and out pass Platini.

As an Evertonian growing up Bryan Robson was my Hero I would still love too meet him when ever I played I always tryed to be like him.. A Gentleman aswell respect and love Robbo.. Legend 🫵💙🫡
Yessss legend! I grew up playing football for a local team with Bennys Nightclub as our home pitch! And Robbo owned that nightclub. Plus I grew up round The Cliff so to me Robson is a massive legend.
As a Palace fan, it's a shame (and a surprise) how poorly Bryan remembers the events of The Great Escape. Norwich had it in their own hands but lost the plot getting battered 6-0 at Fulham. Southampton took the lead vs Man United, who turned it around to win 2-1. I was at The Valley watching us lead 2-1 away to Charlton on the verge of survival, until they equalised in the 82nd minute, taking great joy in sending us down. That goal is what kept West Brom up.
Not sure about that foreign manager shout, Capello didn't work, thought Sven did a fine job during his time, could have been better, but overall I enjoyed his spell as boss. Convinced we haven't had anyone better since. McLaren, Capello, Hodgson and now Southgate
For me Robbo still doesn’t get enough credit for the Stella player he was. God only knows what his worth would be today. A complete player if ever there was one. Is last ever professional game (I think) was as player manager for Middlesbrough at Highbury. Old and racked with injury’s he was still the best player on the pitch by a mile. Will always be my favourite player…..just above Eric 😁
I’m so glad to hear Sam mention Woodward in this light. Everyone knows he was a huge part of Uniteds downfall since Gill left, him and the glazers. But you don’t often hear mainstream knock him.
Woodward was the prime cause of Utd's deterioration, and of course the Glasers were to blame for appointing him and not sacking him when it was obvious he was wrecking the club.
Ole's two recruits of Bruno & Maguire that got Ole the sack, of course they have the 'Captain's Curse' & they are still at the Club, Joke Thing, Bryan & Sam! We w ant to Cash in on Greenwood, Sancho, Mount, Bruno, VDB, Maguire, Lindelof & Antony etc.. ASAP & recruit at least 6 players this summer e.g. 2CB, 2CM, RW & ST! Then we can seriously challenge for league & champions league Next season!
Martinez should be Our long-term Captain, when the opportunity arises it's best to sell Bruno in the summer & replace him with Barella & 6 more then we can seriously challenge for league & champions league Next season! Man Utd should Cash In on at least 10 players in the summer.
I agree that Fernandes is not a captain, but a good player. Thats why Man U needs to sack Ten Haag and get a manager who can actually manage the Players.
Phillips was player of the tournament. Why isn't he in this one? I knew City might flatline his trajectory. He's guts and bone, outside of Peps vocabulary clearly and needs a new club.
It's absolutely criminal with all this talent England have we have an absolute clown in charge, bottled it against Croatia to get us to a WC Final in 18 and it was unforgivable losing to Italy in the final of the last Euros
Hate the way everyone loves to take piss out of Neville, there like the kids at that join in when they see someone getting picked on, Neville is and was more successful than all!
Robbo, Giving 'em stick for wearing coloured boots, TOP man, 👍 Was Allan Hinton at Derby C the 1st to wear white boots ?? anyway, Present day, if anything, The boots should be the same colour as the socks,, part of the kit, & easier to see who's doing what....to who.
Allardyce is a legend in his own head. The only time he had the reins of a top club, in Newcastle, he got sacked after just 6 months. Could never cut it at a big club, just came in to rescue smaller clubs in lower divisions and help prevent relegation.
I wouldn’t be able to get close to him as he’s so well protected by that half a million quid he was paid for four games to keep Leeds Utd in the premier league last season!! Another failure by Allardyce! Thank God he didn’t keep them there or he would’ve been paid £1m!
cmon, Maguire, Casemiro, these guys are passed their best. If we gonna win the PL in 5 yrs, we need to harness the youth. Anyone over 30 needs to be released over the next 2 yrs.
Love the podcast generally, but without sounding all ‘Joey Barton’ , Natalie is painfully out of touch. She’s always struggling a bit when older players and managers reminisce, but on this occasion her interjections were particularly awkward. For a credible podcast not sure what she’s bringing to the party to be honest.
With all due respect, what does Natalie actually bring to the table with this podcast? Sam is fine, but all she does is fake smile everything and play ping-pong with the guest and Sam. Unnecessary middle-person/intermediary, sorry, just my opinion.
I disagree. My parents moved from their hometown of Cardiff to Derby long before I was born so that's where I've spent my whole life and I'm English, end of. Same thing if they'd moved down from Scotland.
What an embarrassing podcast! First and only time I have tuned in. Big Sam just bumbles along with no real imput and the presenter has quite plainly not done any research and knows absolutely nothing. Felt sorry for Robbo.
Can't Man City afford to pay a sound engineer to set up their microphones correctly for their propaganda channel?. As for Natalie Pike, the false smile and incessant stroking of her her is so annoying. I think she should either learn to conduct an interview by at least looking and acting sincere and interested in the people she is interviewing, or stick to doing the quick pitch side stuff.
Its funny how certain managers win nothing in their careers yet are doing "a top job", yet others get a truckload of criticism. With Alladyce, it's also a its a case of the Emperors new clothes. There are pundits in the game that will talk highly of him but if you take a closer look, theres very little there. Sam never played for a big club and all he won were the championships of lower league football as a player and for him to have a go at other players is a absolute joke to be honest....
A true great that doesn't get the recognition he deserves. Superb captain as well.
Even as a Chelsea supporter I love Bryan Robson. What a player, and the best England Captain in my lifetime👍
LEGEND, LEGEND, LEGEND, LEGEND, LEGEND, LEGEND. LEGEND THE GREAT BRYAN ROBSON. UTID

I think you will find Brian that Kevin Moran was sent off in about the 75th minute, 15 minutes before extra time.
Robbo one of the best, injuries got him but it was always on the pitch during tackles etc
Hon Robbo, me fav UTD player, ever!

Declan Rice but better. Robbo had so much. Fantastic Player was bryan Robson. World Class.

That was me who tweeted about the Maldives job 🤣
These two were fantastic players.

I agree with Robbos idea of a captain.
but which player is avaliable to captain the team

Sam's favourite condiment I was hoping he'd say Asia.
First time watching.... the Robson factor
How can they think England are favourites with Maguire in defence and Southgates awful tactics.
