- The plaintiff brought his truck to the defendant for repairs. Unfortunately, the plaintiff claims the defendant played him and did unnecessary work to up the price, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant insists the repairs were necessary, and the plaintiff still owes money, so he's countersuing.

So the plaintiff goes to jail on a DV charge around the same time he stabs this man, and the judge also sees the video and finds him not guilty.... that 100% tells me the plaintiff assaulted the defendant and has a violent temperament.
There was no video available for the judge to view. The plaintiff was being sued for the defendant being locked up for 3 months. She clearly said that the detective and prosecutor decided to pursue charges against him. She said the plaintiff can't be sued for the penal system deciding to imprison the defendant. Whether the plaintiff was guilty of violence was not relevant to why he was being sued.
@blackberry1670 I think it's relevant. It shows a history of violence. I think the judge also thought it was relevant since she continued to ask him about it until he actually answered her question.
@whitechris720 it has nothing to do with why the case against him was dismissed. That was the point being made by the initial statement questioning how the judge could find the plaintiff not guilty. Her verdict had nothing to do with any of the points brought up because they were irrelevant to the reason that he was being sued.

even so , the defendant should have released the car and handled it the legal way by suing him , not waiting until the man gets pissed off and then pulling a gun on him . mechanics who overcharge dont get to keep your car hostage .

The defendant didn't state his case right. He should have said the plaintiff lied to the cops about him just bringing out the gun for no reason... that it was all self defense, because the plaintiff attacked him first. Had the plaintiff told the truth, the defendant wouldn't have wasted so much time and resources in jail.

This is why it's important for people to know how to articulate, and defend themselves. The judge totally would have awarded the defendant money, if he knew how to articulate his case. Literally all he had to say was " He stabbed me, then called the police on me and said I attacked him. He was the aggressor. I was found not guilty by reason of self defense." At the very least he should have sued for medical bills and pain/suffering.
