Pretty sure that isn't the only time that towing company pulled that scam. Great job by the plaintiff for providing that recording. He was prepared for court.

I had a car in the city for about 5 years and never once got a ticket or a tow because I PAID ATTENTION to the signs and would take the time to find a valid free parking spot.
Too many towing can be scammy AF unfortunately. I'm glad the plaintiff had everything in order to win ~

Notice he said he walked everywhere though - so he didn’t have evidence of a rental car or cab fare. If he had presented receipts like that he may have been awarded those reimbursements.

The fact that the person who actually towed the car didn't also come to court immediately told me that the company was either super disorganized or flat-out running a scam.
I wanted the plaintiff to get more than $200+; I hate tow truck people.
Me too. I had the same thing happen to me.
She did give him pre statutory interest from the day that it was towed until whenever he had to bring this to court so he did get plus I don't know how much the interest rate is on the $200 but he's getting more
Same here if I was in judge Milan’s chair I would’ve awarded the plaintiff over $500 with the all the evidence he had
I set for 4 hrs. on the interstate because of a tow truck company. They accepted the tow, then wouldn't come and tow me. I had to wait on another company to get dispatched. AAA and their fine dispatchers.
At least for no use of his car for 18 days.

Some of those towing companies are abusing their Authority and scamming motorists

The Bible is clear about what happens when people mistreat other people. I've seen God's justice in action several times.
They are scammers, as once they knew they didn't have the paperwork to back up their tow, they chose not to refund and fix the situation.

The defendant already looked guilty when she walked in. Later, this was clearly a scam. Her body language clearly shows she was in the wrong.

He probaby could have gotten even more money out of them if he had also asked for compensatory damages of inconvenience. Not having his car for that long, at no fault of his own, was certainly an inconvenience.

That's an old scam...it's never happened to me, but at certain businesses I've worked for had crap like this all the time...and it's nothing new.

Tow truck company has a lot of nerve to take this to court and not just give this guy his money back when they clearly were in the wrong. Would have liked to see him also be compensated for 18 days without a car.
I wouldn't expect everyone to come in dressed for a formal dinner, but you could at least wear something that is fit for a courtroom, especially when you are representing a company. That top looked like it has been stretched so much that it won't go back into shape and holes have opened up. Besides that, how can anyone tell so many lies, no legit company is going to allow an ex-employee to talk to their customers. That employee was fully involved in that tow and is probably still on the companies pay roll.

Yes!! He might not be on payroll any more but their paying him under the table to get them tows. When I use to repo, if we had trouble finding a car the big boss man would offer the neighbors money if they called when they see the car at home. You would be shocked at the number of people that actually did call just to get that money. One was a hellcat and the offer was $500 dollars. I swear I think people went looking for that car. We had so many "neighbors" call and say they think they see the car. Funny thing the old lady that lived a couple of doors down told us he was hiding it on the next street over 😂😂. She got that money!!

Not usually normal. I'm not sure if any of the parts that are marked are parts that would be used for repair.
You can find the vin number one the dashboard..and also on the inside if the driver side door..same number just two different places to look

Towing companies get paid to tow cars, they don’t care if they towed the wrong car. Most people will just pay it. Of the dozen tow companies I’ve dealt with, 1 was a good company.

Something odd about this towing company - I realize this is only one case, but they were lacking so many documents and their lack of standards in processing raises the question of illegal behavior.
Plaintiff was great by recording the phone conversation and playing that in the courtroom and the defendant trying to explain in gibberish what the person on the phone was saying in gibberish. She was red faced.
