It’s not simple at all. Getting everything you need takes physical effort not an exchange of money. Quiet is nice but isolation is painful.

So much good information in a single video - beginning with how you embellished the wooden crate that holds your index cards! Love the idea of having embellished index cards at hand. Thank you for sharing your homestead journal - what a fabulous idea! You have inspired me to create a similar journal for our cabin in the north woods. 💕

Love this idea. I live in a log cabin on a river in Illinois. It was an old 1930 hunting lodge that Mt husband and I spent 15 years, pay as you go, fixing up. We don't have bears but we have a pair of great horned owls, deep, possum, groundhogs, raccoons and all numbers of delightful birds, my favorites being the woodpeckers of all sizes, and of coarse the stunning cardinals and yhe humble titmouse and my wake up calls in the summer mornings..the tiny wrens. I love them all. Thanks for sharing the ICAD system. Looking forward to seeing your garden this spring!

A new chapter in our lives as we begin to develop the property for our retirement homestead. Your journal is brilliant! So excited to get one going! The well driller comes Saturday! Yay! Now I will have the perfect avenue for organizing thought, ideas, maps, plants, animal life, oh my the list goes on. Whoop whoop! Thank you, thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much Julee! You must be so excited to move forward with the next chapter of your lives. Make sure to ask the well driller before he leaves what the "static water level" is and what the "recovery rate" of the water in your well is as you use it. It's amazing (in a homestead geek sorta way) to learn all the things that go into our comfy modern living. Happy homesteading and journaling, hugs!! :-)

Thank you for sharing Mrs. Cog!! Your talking about the homesteading you are doing makes me remember my Mom and step-dad, who in the 70's began the very same thing and relocated to the woods in Tennessee to do it. Mom was a country kid but step-dad was a city mouse and it was interesting seeing Mom teaching him about chopping wood for the woodstove; but he taught her to take care of the cows and horses he raised (his degree was in animal nutrition). Lots of very hard work involved and I remember many a time the well running dry. They're both gone now; but thank you for sharing and bringing back some memories long buried.

Oooh My Goodness!, I never knew how much there is to know about living in a cabin in the woods. I've always loved the idea of living in the woods, but small city life was as close as I got. Sounds like hard work. The journal is very nice and you have a very creative way of how to fill the pages. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for sharing with us!!! I love seeing those if you with such amazing journals share how you use them!! Your journal from Wendy is gorgeous!!! I also love using coffee dyed index cards but have never thought of embellishing them to that extreme and using one a day to write down something on!! I love that and will be using that idea for sure!! As for as the country, I’ve grown up in the country! We are in between right now and will prob always stay in our very small town (like with one red light) lol but we love country life!! ❤️

I so enjoyed this video! I loved your journal. I have a simple note book that I had to do the same thing in. My husband when he was still in the military. And was either TDY or deployed. I had to know how to do or fix things. He is now retired and with the blessing of God home all the time. But you have inspired me to transfer the info to a beautiful journal. I have been wanting to do one on our home. Tyfs. Can't wait to see more of your work in this journal. Hugs V

I love this idea of using it for such important info that we have to have in a moments notice! I am thinking about doing this with all my financial info so it is easily available and not so conspicuous! Wendy does great journals! Thanks for sharing how to use them for us newbies!
