Damn, at 0:30 that fool wasnt even harnessed in with safety rope. Imagine that shit happening today. I used to do housing construction in Arizona back in 1995 and we never wore shirts to work. That would never happen now.
I stood on top of that damn when it was a few feet of going over the top and told one of the mgrs he needed to call Eddy Childs Of the Western Co to being in a fleet of frac trucks, He gave me a yeah right look. I asked him if he had ever seen a Detroit Diesel manifold turn cherry red and the water they move..
Whew, if they had run those tubes further the wall of the canyon could have gone away and taken away the dam abutments. Hoover dam might not have taken such a flood. They probably should have armored the tube with steel plate after this, instead of just concrete.
Lake Powell and Lake Mead are both more than half empty, and several states depend on them for a lot of their water. The Southwestern drought will continue for years to come, and this is the normal state of affairs. Water treaties that favored California were made when the years were unusually wet and California was the only state there with a lot of population. Severe water shortages are very close now per our local experts and yet water conservation is no where to be seen. There are far more legal claims on Colorado river water and underground water sources than there is water to meet those demands. Most of the people who live here are in denial of this and have no idea what's coming. Rationing and water wars in inevitable, once the laws and treaties are no longer enforceable.
***** That's just today, you would need a decade of it to make any difference. California needs to have desalination plants to create fresh water from the ocean. If Mexico and Israel can afford to do this, CA can.
Why do you use tunnels to remove the excess water from a dam? Why not an open channel with a gradual slope? Do i have to do all of the fucking engineering around here?
Engineers save more lives than doctors. God bless them all!!!
Awesome video. Some brave men, right there!
Had no idea that hole was that big. I heard plenty about the spillway problems but you don't realize untli you see it here. Wow.
5 stars .......... !
thanks for sharing
This is awesome.

Drilling something that could collapse at any moment on you even with drills that long...that seems dangerous.
Glen Canyon Part 1 has the wrong Dam on your cover photo. I looks like Morrow point or Flaming Gorge Dam.

Maybe this time they installed air vents to prevent cavitation. (the word is not on spell check)

the canyon would look better without the dam
