    Thank you so much man as a progressive rock Deadhead old head I truly appreciate the education! Using all of my external instruments on the Akai is one of the reasons I bought it. I teach computer science all day and don’t feel like looking at a computer when I get home so the MPC one is the perfect solution for me.

    Say I wanted to use a saved sample as an audio track. What would be the process to link to a daw if the usb connection isn’t properly displaying the monitoring of the input. No sound on anything but software instrument (no wave on audio track). I’ve seen so many mpc users click record then they do the live effects and pad play through.

    • @DeeDotMajorMusic
      @DeeDotMajorMusic  Před 5 měsíci

      You would need midi cables from the MPC to the audio interface along with a 1/4 audio cable into the audio in on the interface then whatever DAW you’re using you’d have to go in and make sure you in’s and outs match from the MPC to whatever track you’re recording to. Would also be possible with effects in the DAW

    • @DeeDotMajorMusic
      @DeeDotMajorMusic  Před 3 lety

      When you export it would be a .wav file, where it saves would depend on how you have your MPC setup. It does have 4GB of internal memory but you can also save via an SD card or usb external storage. For the last question sounds like you are looking to copy and paste midi to 3 different tracks with different sounds . Whether you are using internal sounds or off hardware it will reference whatever track you have setup so you can layer your sounds that way

    • @DeeDotMajorMusic
      @DeeDotMajorMusic  Před rokem

      No problem the reason you’d have to record the audio is if you’re recording on an external synth and you export your song its coming from an external source so anything that is from an external source wouldn’t be exported unless it’s recorded as audio. If it was an internal sound or synth built into the MPC you don’t have to do that

    Dude 1 of all, you're amazing and please keep going!
    Now my problem, I've hooked up my mpc with the microfrrak via the tascam model 12 mixer as audio interface. So mpc via usb connected to esi m4uEX midi /USB hub at the hub there is the model 12 and the microfrrak connected via USB.
    The mpc is set as master in the mpc software and the mmc send and receive boxes are checked.
    So why the hell can I not push play or overdub or Rec when the microfreak is set to sync on the mpc? When it's turned sync off on the mpc, I can push Rec play and so an.. So when microfreak is synced, there's no way to record or play the previous stuff on the mpc.
    Really weird.
    2nd question is, why did my gear don't receive the clock information from my mpc when I hit play?
    How re the Midi/sync settings on the mpc to send midi clock data? (the boxes are checked)
    Hope you kind of understand me.. If not I got telegram and I could send you a video with my problem and setting? Or via email whatever
    I want my mpc to be the sequencer for my external gear but it somehow doesn't work well. Maybe it is because it's all rooted via the ESi M4uEX?
    Hope you can fit some time for me.. You're the best

It sounds like you’re doing it correct the way the track disarms is what’s getting me. I’d try it in the audio file window and then also check your input to see if it’s set to in or auto detection

    Thank for your informative video, DeeDot. I’ve been unsuccessful in recording audio from my iPad app (Neo-Soul Keys) to a MPC X, using the headphones out of the iPad into inputs 1&2 of the MPC. Despite dictating Audio on the MPC track, I’m unable to hear/see via the Audio track meter, after arming the audio track, the output from the iPad app. What I’m I doing wrong?

      I appreciate you checking it out, my apologies for the late reply. I just got my MPC back from getting repaired I hadn’t had much time to explore the new update yet but I do plan on doing some content on the update soon. I’m not sure I understand the question on the op-1 are you trying to just record the audio or use as an interface? Or is it just not showing up in the synth selection window on the recording screen?

      @joefarrin Před 3 lety

      @@DeeDotMajorMusic it’s not showing up in my mpc as a synth options. i actually just want to slave the op1 to the mpc using midi and audio thru the usb but but after countless days i’ve come to realize the Mpc isn’t a interface it only supports interfaces the op-1 update makes it an interface so i will only be able to slace the Mpc. even tho i know found a few hacks and i’m thinking of making a video to help everyone uncover the one possible way.Cause hooking up the op1 to the mpc there is no options to strictly controll and sequence to op-1 op-1 the mpc only 1 track and if you change the sound of that one track on op1 it changes in your mpc. which shouldn’t make sence bud there is to 16 midi tracks in the op-1 . but basically you gotta record and quantize your op-1sounds into your mpc with the midi one track they give you (without the sound changing if you switch the sound then record it into wave on mpc. or just sync your op-1 tempo midi to op-1 and make record four tracks on there using mpc quanasize but gotta press record on op-1 same time record starts on mp. after you got those four bars synced up to your mpc track then still have to sample in one by one on mpc from each of the 4 op-1 tracks separately but can’t have your op-1 (which is pain in the ass) bpm clicks on while doing cus it will record the clicks in the op-1- tracks. once it’s recorded in op-1 4’s and quantized by the Mpc sequences this is where the real fun begins cus now you can either record into Macbook with usb cable and turn the op-1 charging port off for less noise or you can reall be a boss and hook your OP-1 up to you Mpc as a drive and then just download those files you recorded in the op-1 about having to worry about re recording them in the mpc💪🏽💪🏽🙌🏽👍🏽👍🏽😎 took me 3 days to do a video if i don’t see anyone else do one soon ima just do it like fuck it . now it’s basically in our limited tracks on op-1 but at same time mpc quartasized

    Can you clarify your hardware connections between the synth and akai? Are you using both midi/in and out between akai and synth and audio cables so that after midi is recorded it will trigger the external synth and take input from audio in 1/2? - Thanks in advance.

    • @DeeDotMajorMusic
      @DeeDotMajorMusic  Před 2 lety

      USB out the Microfreak into a usb hub or if you don’t have a hub you can connect directly into the mpc usb in. And for the audio a “Y” cable out the Microfreak into the audio in on the MPC. It should then allow you to record the midi or trigger the synth if you’re using an midi keyboard

    Why would you have to record an audio track of the same synth that you also just recorded with the midi into the grid? Won't the midi data play the sound? What would be the reason you would do that, or would have to do that? I'm curious because this is where I am really confused myself, and I'm really glad that you did a video on it? Thanks alot...SBN RESONATE

    • @DeeDotMajorMusic
      @DeeDotMajorMusic  Před 3 lety

      It depends you don’t necessarily have to you are correct if you are arranging the song on the MPC then you may not have to record the audio, if you want to use the same synth but maybe a different sound for a different track then in that case it would be a situation where you would need to record the audio because most synths won’t allow you to change the sound and keep just the midi notes. You may also need to record the audio if you arrange in a different daw like for example I may make my beat on the MPC but I like to mix and arrange in Logic. Hope this helps and thanks for watching

      Most external gear you plug in is not "multi-timbral". So when you use it all the midi is recorded on one channel. Say if you use preset 21 on your microfreak...You save on the project on the MPC and turn your stuff off. You come back that microfreak will be on the first preset channel one and with the knobs in the position that you left them. If you had moved anything after you screwed up the whole sound because the preset is not the same. Thats called not having "recall". A lot of workstation vsts like kontakt, haliion, sample tank will give you the option for 16 channels...but hardware nah unless it's like a Triton or something. It's just easier to deal with audio in that regard it's in a single file and all retained as you heard it.

    This has me confused. As an experiment I connected an NTS-1 via 5-pin midi and recorded MIDI data as you demonstrated and then in audio track did as you suggested and used Record and Play. Data is shown in the Audio track window, but changes to the parameters on the NTS-1 were not recorded, new changes to those parameters on playback affect the supposedly recorded (ergo unchanging) audio track and if the volume on the NTS-1 is lowered, the audio track will go silent. So it would appear nothing has actually been recorded in truth. I have no idea what is going on.
