I feel like you guys are my favorite to watch out of all of the urban explorers just because you're both at least somewhat intelligent. You dont make rash assumptions about what a room was or what something means you just make actual educated guesses rather than saying everything was haunted or it was a torture chamber or "Look is that blood on the walls" blah blah blah. When you think you hear something you dont freak out and start yelling you stop and assess the situation and think things through like a normal person should. Just because an abandoned building is creepy and dilapidated doesn't mean its automatically possessed by demons.

Yeah you're totally right, I really enjoy watching them because they reflect my approach to exploring the most, compared to other big urbex-CZcamsrs. But if you want to see more Explorers like them you have to search a bit, there are lots of smaller channels out there producing great urbex-videos :)
I like that they're not dirty pieces of shit who creep me out like others....

I used to work here. At 5:45 you can see my work space with the fan. I used to rebuild electronics. It wasn't a bad place to work because most of us got the holidays and weekends off, except the orderlies and dietary, they were 24/7.

Most were good memories. I was there before it was converted into a jail, but it didn't change much. They offered most folks who had been there a long time early retirement, unfortunately I didn't qualify for it. They had no need for my services and subbed out pretty much all the work. They kept a good bit of the maintenance staff on board though. I heard a lot of weird noises in that place and seen some unexplainable things. Never believed in ghosts or any of that paranormal bs before I worked there, but now I'm a believer...

This is the Rivers building on the campus of Central State (Mental) Hospital in Milledgeville, Georgia. It was built in 1939 as a tuberculosis ward for mental patients at Central State Hospital. It was converted into a prison around 1980 and stayed a prison until about 2005 or 2006. I worked there from 1984 until 1989.

@KD we parked where our car couldn't be seen and found a hole in the fence. I'm sure the knew we were in there, as long as we weren't trashing the place. It's pretty neat
imagine being in there alone and walking in ones of those prisoncells only for the heavy door to shut behind you and lock you in :/

I know a place that was a mental hospital then it was converted into a prison it didn't last long because the government didn't need it so they listed it for sale now it's apartments and a hotel.

That "system" you guys saw with all the tools and utinsels being shadowed on the walls of the cabinets is actually a universal thing used in many prisons and industries. I used to work as a corrections officer for a maximum security prison and it had the same "system" as the one you guys explored. Great video
It's so nice to see a building that hasn't been vandalised in any way. Gives you more of a proper feel of the way it looked and how it was when it was open by it been u touched.

Do you ever worry that the doors would get locked behind you. I guess you have friends you could call for emergencies.
Good luck getting a cell phone signal in there.
All the locks are removed
They could also (ironically) call the police
Put a piece of cardboard between a door and it's bolt if you're worried about it locking. Make sure it stays in place and to slowly close the door behind you

You guys should check out the abandoned Granite high school in Salt Lake City. It was closed in 2009, for whatever reason? I've heard it still has something's left inside, like books, and desks.
It’s my life long dream to explore abandoned/deserted places and facilities. It’s so fascinating, I wish I could work aside you guys. You have the best job on this planet. Since I was a kid I’ve wanted to do this. Y’all rock, I can feel the mystery and excitement through y’all.

They don't have many subscribers because they don't click bait, and most people would rather click on video named "EXPLORING PRISON, FOUND HUMAN REMAINS" than "Exploring a prison" or something like that. People just scroll past them, and I'm kinda happy, their viewer community is really nice, and not cancerous.

Former Corrections Officer here answering your rank questions in the beginning. Corrections is law enforcement, so holds the same ranking structure. Law enforcement is para military, so holds similar ranking structures to that of the military. The ranks vary from state to state, but the states I was a C/O, the ranking structure went Officer, Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain, in that order. Also, yes, the tool boards where they drew outlines of the tools are called shadow boards. They are a quick reference for staff to ensure things are where they belong.
Your cinematography and ability to edit is what makes your channel a top tier channel. To bad it isn't as popular as it should be. Keep up the good work lads.

The brushy mountain prison in east TN should be open for tours soon hopefully, there was a famous escape which i can never remember the guys name.
he best known escape occurred in 1977. On June 10th, the famed James
Earl Ray attempted escape with six other inmates. He was captured less
than 58 hours later, only eight and a half miles from the prison. The
rugged terrain proved the greatest guard.
I've heard about that guy, I was looking up some trail running races around that area and there is a "Barkley Marathons" event whose designer, Gary Cantrell I think, spoke about that fugitive. The terrain over there is tough!

exact same floorplan and architecture of a prison in indiana i did time at in the early 2000's. The backstory is weirdly similar as well. This video was gave me spicy nostalgia

I was in this prison back in '98. I was in dorm 14. Place is just as creepy now as it was back then.

You can tell this was originally an asylum just by the layout of the place. Also, I'm quite surprised the place isn't entirely covered in graffiti.
Brendan Borders asylums are designed as confusing, with lots of turns and unpredictable hallways, etc. designed so it's difficult for the patients to escape.

Window design is a big indicator. Instead of bars over them, asylums would use checkerboard-like squares that are too small to fit anything through and you can only open one row, one sqaure high outwards for ventilation. Even a child couldn't fit through. The windows are so sturdy you can barely shake them.
@@projecto.t.s.1052 yeah! At that one part where they found the window inside the wall, it was quite old, framed in wood, and had the small square checkerboard panes.

Even more when you include the mentally and physically disabled ppls lives that lived there to.
I've been as well and agree. Spent a good amount of my younger years in jails and prison and it's a horrible place.

Do you think there is something wrong with taking something? I dont see that. If you are going with the intention to "rob" something from the building I see that being a problem, but if you end up going there and just taking something as a physical souvenir I dont see a problem with that.

Most UE's have the mindset of: Take only pictures, leave only footprints.
Of course not all of them are like that, which leads to them spray painting or damaging some of the places. TBH if I was a UE, I would take stuff...but only small things like for instance one of the key's we see hanging on that key rack in this video...just something to say I was there.
I always enjoy these videos. I think the proper people have very good content and I have enjoyed them for over a year.

You were wondering if they used a ranking structure like the military the answer is yes. The police and fire departments also use the same system.

The titles of Lieutenant, Sergeant, or Captain are for ranking, with regards to their level of experience/training in law enforcement, and yes, being a Correctional Officer is a part of Law Enforcement.
Hopefully you guys will explore the abandoned White House when we abolish the federal government.

In the 70's there was an abandoned military prison on the NW side of Milwaukee on the Army Reserve land there. There was an abandoned Nike Missile site there as well, with tunnels leading from the prison to the missile silos then to the basement of a fake farm about a half mile away. There was a big door that looked like a safe door in the basement of the farm house that lead to the tunnel. The 'farm house' looked like an old farm on the outside, but had offices, sleeping quarters, and modern construction inside. it was never a farm, it was the command center for the missile silos. The barn and outbuildings were props as well. We used to travel through the tunnels with old kerosene lanterns until they found a body in one of the tunnels and the army caved them in. The road that was on top of the main tunnel was repaired and is still there. We hung out at the prison a lot, but eventually it became home for lots of runaways and there were huge parties until they finally tore the place down. The rest of the large tract of land was an old-fashioned dump where they burned garbage, and an area where the reserve unit fired dummy tank rounds. The area is now called Havenwoods State Forest.

I always get depressed when people are exploring and find dead animals.
Guards are COs and Sgts, Lts and Capts are supervisors. Those keys are not for vehicles...it's a chit board. You leave a chit (ID) which are the round metal tag and you can get keys, spray, cuffs or a radio.

I was wondering for those people who used to work there watching this, I wonder what they were thinking? Same goes for those inmates who were released. Just a thought. Huge prison indeed. Can’t imagine.

It took me hours and hours of research, but I finally found this place with nothing but the info provided in this video. My point in saying so is that if you really are passionate about this stuff you'll put the effort in instead of just asking people where it is.

i’ve been there just last year on halloween, it’s trashed and the cafeteria has old food treys. and there’s this wall that says “she’s watching you” with a big whole in the wall and bible pages ripped out and stuck on the way.
they also locked a lot of the doors so u can’t really get to go on the top floors.
It's fascinating how little time is needed for man-made structures to start basically decaying without people being around and maintaining those. If your info is true, and it was abandoned just about a decade ago it's crazy in what state it is in now.
Are you guys ever going to feature music on your future videos? Like when you guys used the song pine trees by Purpan. on the video about the echo domes? I was curious because the music you used was very good and it fit in perfectly with the video.

In the USA we have what is called a militarized government. So yes the police and corrections officers are placed in ranks similiar to the military. Such as captains and lieutenants.
