I'm not sure if HMB was just a newer supplement when this video was made, or if the price came down dramatically, but it seems like with bulk supplements, leucine is significantly more expensive. HMB is 300 capsules/ 150 servings at 1g for $22, vs leucine 300 capsules is 30 servings, for $20, but the serving is 5g. What would you recommend, or should I be looking elsewhere?

Im sorry but im 64 years old been working out pretty much all my life, and every time i start taking HMB my strength goes way up my muscle gain goes up and my lean muscle mass is so much better...just saying...i know everyone is different But it works for me...thanks for what you do..
hmb has helped me. i,m a tradesman working 12h days. i had an right arm tendon injury for months. i was putting up with the pain, cause the moneys good. then i got a bicep muscle strain, i didn,t know what do. this hmb story popped up in my youtube stuff, so i tried it, within 5 days at 2g per day my injuryies are almost gone. i,m so happy about it. i,m 54yo.

Excellent video Thomas. Obviously this isn’t something that you can take when you’re fasting because it will spike your insulin and break your fast. But as a carpenter he takes wear and tear on the body. I would recommend taking this in the morning before you start work or at least by lunch. Catabolism in the muscle and maybe take two more grams before a workout. It’s all about the Preservation of muscle. When you’re not benefiting from the elevated human growth hormone from fasting. You’re a wonderful teacher thank you !
I knew this when I started weight lifting in high school in 1998. My go to supplements were HMb, CLA and creatine. Use these three with clean food and aminos and you will have a more defined muscle mass. All of these supplements I prefer are safe as long as you follow the recommended servings and you can take more depending on your growth.
I remember when creatine first dropped. That was an amazing time. Flex magazine, Muscle and Fitness, all the hype around Cell Tech and EAS. Andro was sold at GNC. It was a great time to be in bodybuilding.

I took creatine with HMB. It was never easier to make gains in the gym, at 5'10" I used to be 225lbs with a 31in waist until I was in an accident that destroyed my shoulder. Anyway, I used to try to make myself sore but it never happened while taking HMB. People think I'm crazy when I tell them this so than you for making this video.
How is hmb on the liver. I’ve lost 48 lbs on keto between your videos and Dr berg. Thanks for all you two do. I feel way better. I have nafl and it’s all but gone. I went from 209 to 161 and still need to lose a few more before I start bulking up.
Well a supplement store owner i trust said to me when asked about hmb that it is slightly more effective than leucine that you have to take it for a long time period in order to notice its full effect and that it will make you smell

There was a study done the UK with creatine and HMB together on longevity and they couldn't determine if there was any effect. But they did see the difference in strength increase. Plus they said that there was an increase in testosterone.from taking the two together. I had been taking them for a couple of years before I read that and it seamed like it was true to me. I was able to get better progress with them. I'm 73 years old now and you need all the help you can get at that age. Both work separately gwit well but combined it was magic. The older you are the better they work.

Not using technical names just knowing A1 A2 B1 B2 B3. This will help you to how to get to your goal. You can target them better. Also there are different systems to achieve the objective you want. Your muscles have a mind of thier own you can make them do what you want if you train them like a dog to behave, and they will obey. PS. There are percentages involved here as well like 30 to 40% targets the A muscles. Say you can lift a 100 lbs, then 30 to 40 pounds would hit these muscles with at least 20 to 30 reps. for one to to two sets. The B muscles would be 70 to 80%. The high B brut strength ones would be 85 to 90%. These all take time to work up to. Healing time can be different for each one and there is different reps as well, including sets. Also, do you want to be a body builder or a power lifter?
Years ago when I was training heavily, the best period of training I did was when I was taking a berry flavoured Met-Rx product which mixed creative and HMB. Sadly I couldn’t get hold of the product anymore. Having switched to other products here and there during my training I felt that the HMB was the difference. I didn’t know much at the time, but I became a fan of HMB lol

Just started using HMB three weeks ago. I’m going to put it right up there with Creatine and ZMA. Fantastic results. The drawback? The smell is somewhere between gym socks, split oak and zesty Doritos.
I went vegan for last 2 month, main source vegan protein, I had tricep pain near elbow for last 4-5 days , I ordered HMB , its not best version one like muscletech clear , but its nutrex 1000 a cheaper one, I took 2 caps today (4-5 hrs before writing this) , pain is gone, it recovered my tricep pretty fast. I think HMB 's mix result is if you are vegan kind of guy who taking kind of inferior protein , not much BCAA etc. HMB works pretty well in there .
It's good stuff. I could see the difference between working out with it and not. No noticible energy level difference for me but I see results more obvious, and quicker. You don't feel like you're wasting your time at the gym. You actually get results you can see just putting in basic effort at the gym. But you still gotta lift and workout
I have been taking HMB for 3 weeks, before even watching this video (crazy how this came up on my youtube feed? lol) and i take 1G (1 scoop) of HMB every morning, to go along with my morning shake. I mixed it with whey protein (or half serving of weight gainer), cistanche, and pine pollen powder. Mind you i did change my diet a bit too. I went from 4 cups of caffeinated coffee a day to just 1. I eliminated a lot of the snacks/chocolate i was eating throughout the day and my lunch strictly consists of chicken, kale/spinach, and potatoes (i'm getting tired of the same lunch LOL). 3 weeks later i can absolutely see improvements on energy levels, recovery, and strength when i workout. I find myself lifting the weights much easier, not getting fatigued midway or losing focus etc. When back in the day it felt like the same weight i was doing, i couldn't even do, even though some days i could. Some days i just couldn't. There was no consistency. So i won't say HMB is the magic formula as i changed a lot of other things to see improvements. For 20 bucks on amazon, and 250 servings, HMB is worth trying.
I started shedding my hair. Well just the center and my face started to look like a sad looking basset hound. Inalso just stopped brushing my teeth as well. Been about 6 months or so. Also threw a few batteries at a hobo last week. Sheering half of his ear off.
Cutting out all that junk food and starting to eat healthy is enough on it's own to make you feel more energetic and stronger, with all that going on who knows if it's the HMB that's making the difference or not
@@carterhayes4624 I didn't cut all junk food out, i would say more than half though. Before i would eat cookies or a donut and coffee mid morning breakfast but it's replaced by a protein/fruit smoothie. Then for lunch i have the chicken (or salmon) with kale.spinach and potatoes. Then mid afternoon snack i would do the same thing, either chips or cookies/donut and another cup of coffee. Now that's replaced by a whey isolate protein shake. I get home from work and have decaf cup of coffee when before EVERYTHING was caffeinated coffee. Then for dinner will be whatever i can make or find. So it's not a perfect diet but i did make some improvements. With those improvements i noticed more energy throughout the day and i just feel better. I'm sure if i went on a strict ZERO junk food diet i would feel even more amazing but i'm not trying to do all that because while it's good to start eating a bit healthier, i am trying to bulk so i need calories.
I'm 50. In last 2 years I've had both hips replaced. I have an artificial knee, pinched nerves and arthritis in cervical spine as well as 2 broken vertebrae with nerve damage in my lumbar spine. My hips were going for years and I waited too long. Atrophe was an issue. Excercise is very difficult because recovery is extreme. Excercise Monday and cant function for days. Repeat. I began taking hmb (and make sure I'm getting vitamin D outside) about two months ago. Enables me to recover and keep a routing workout schedule. I can walk stairs now without it being a project. I need fewer meds now. I cant say I know all about hmb. I just know what the result is so far. No weight loss noted but I'm just taking it one step at a time. Itll come as I grow stronger maybe

Also tumeric helps me with inflammation in the joints. Collagen has help me tremendously also with knee problems. Creatine is decent but didn't push me to run a marathon or anything. This CZcamsr is very wise and does his research! Hmb is a must
@thebeetsy you would have to be a moron to take 600 mg of depo-testosterone in a week. The average person on TRT takes 100 mg/week. You also have to factor in the effects that exogenous testosterone has on your cardiovascular system. It increases RBC, hemoglobin and hematocrit levels already in people who are taking just 100 mg/week, sometimes to dangerous levels and you think 6 times that is going to be healthy or safe?! You're living in a fantasy dude. That much testosterone can make your blood like jelly to the point that you can have a cardiac event or even a stroke, but go ahead.

Used about 20 tubs of this in capsule form each tub had 120 capsule's i took 3 capsules 4 x a day along with all other supplements + gym & cardio eat clean = lots of wasted money that would of been better spent on whole foods etc.

Long video: AFAIK HMB doesn't build muscle better than steroids. As for the first study the placebo group lost weight while the HMB group gained weight, I feel that's kinda relevant when looking at strength gains over a 4 week period.
Correct. Without using a metabolic lab to control caloric intake, the study is dead in the water. Equate calories in the context of a surplus, then they can begin the study.
I'm 72, I've taken steroids and I've taken HMB and HMB most definitely builds muscle faster in older adults. About 9 months ago, I discontinued HRT (hgh, hcg and testosterone) with my doctor because the only result I saw in 18 months was a thinning head of hair. I have only been taking HMB for about 3 months. All my gains have come recently. Best shape (muscle wise) of my life and I have been an (amateur after college) athlete all my life. The HMB extends the duration of muscle density for people my age. This and H I I T has changed my physique. Cheers!

So if I lost weight vs if I gained weight I'd assume that would affect my strength. Now if it's just 1 kg difference over a month then maybe not. But I'd expect weight gain/loss to affect average outcomes.
Please someome answer. Is this safe for type 1 diabetics? I kind of got confused on the insulin spikes on this. I know diabetics cant take prohormones or anabolics. I have to be very care with what i take. Im at a point im not getting the gains id like even changing my work outs up with heavier weights shorter reps and alternating with lighter reps with more reps. I only take whey, creatine, glutamine, and bcaa.

Organic hexane free castor oil pack on your liver while you sleep. Add a little castor oil to the cloth every couple days. (You’ll have to apply cellophane wrap over the cloth to minimize the mess, and wear an old shirt.) Do it every night, with a heat pack for a month and see how you feel. A little DMSO on your liver before the castor oil is even more effective. Also, take a supplement like NAC and/or TMG to increase glutathione. To assist your kidneys with the chemo dissolve 1/4 teaspoon baking soda in 6oz water and take it 1-2 x day between meals.
I started taking HMB roughly 2 weeks ago. I do Keto and IF. I take 1.5g of HMB before my morning cardio/weight training. I take 750mg after my workouts. I take 4 750mg capsules per day. I then take my last capsule 2 hours before my last meal. For a total of 3g per day. I pay $30 for a bottle that lasts 30 days. I do my workouts in a 12 hour fasted state, as that's what works best for me. I have notice massive reduction in recovery time, more energy throughout the day, my strength has increased. Before I started HMB, I would struggle with 130 pounds squatting for 5 reps *not including the barbell*, after 2 weeks of HMB, I can do 170 pounds *again not including the barbell* for 10 reps. But with HMB, you have to take it everyday and try to take it at the same time everyday to notice the changes.
I can confirm same. I give most things a try and have no expectations really. Most stuff is minimally effective, if at all. I take 1g HMB morning, afternoon and night. I got it from the local big box chemist, $30 AUD for 60 x 1g capsules Within in a few days I found levels of intensity and strength gains I haven't seen in quite a while. The range of motion seems smoother and I was able to "find more" at the end of sets : leads to a pretty intense workout, so be prepared for that. As an example, say your best working set weight is 200lds on a lift for 10 reps at 5sets, you might feel stronger whilst doing 215lds for sets. I'll need to see how the body composition settles out after 10 to 12 weeks on it. Currently cutting some mud from the midsection so this strength is impressive. TLDR, i'm supplementing with 3gs a day and confirm decent effects, at least for myself.
HMB has been debated for over 25 years. And still no real answer to if It works.or not I first read about it in Muscle Media 2000. If I try it. I would probably start with 3 grams a day. And maybe later add 400mg of ATP. But if it really works it would of caught on by now.
I may still have one of the first issues of MM2K where Bill Phillips was breaking the news on HMB. I tried one of the first batches before it was EAS branded. It -may- have helped with recovery? But I was much younger back then so maybe it’s more beneficial as you age.

I’ve used HMB before and now just got on it again and recently I’ve had joint pain from working out 4 days a week and training jiujitsu. My experience is my joint pain started to go away literally and I don’t mean to post this just to talk but I mean it literally went away the first day I got back on HMB ( no joke ) I take muscle tech HMB it’s a great product. I was also feeling like I wasn’t recovering fully as of late due to all my training. Now I feel fantastic it’s what I really needed. I did research the first time I got on it just to make sure I wasn’t harming my own health taking it. I’m 47 years old and seeing the positive research made me want to use it and I have no regrets. I highly recommend it. Even if you don’t believe me try to research it first and have your own assumptions. I absolutely love it I know the p90x guy has a HMB product I saw which I see positive reviews it’s worth checking out.
Same thing happened to me. I'm in my 50's and was just taking Creatine. I was sore all the time so I wasn't training as much. As soon as I started taking HMB, the muscle soreness went away. It literally disappeared the next day. I do get muscle fatigue which prevents me from training everyday but the soreness is minimal even after a very hard work out. The other side effect I noticed is that I'm constantly hungry, famished in fact.

I'm 59 years old I haven't had a lot of muscle since I was about 22 started taking this twice a day believe it or not in 3 weeks I gained 51 lb of solid muscle went from 150 lb 201 lb more definition you could see my abdominals for the first time in years I stopped bench pressing some years ago started about 6 months ago my Max 205 for one repetition now I'm capable of doing 525 lb for 16 reps
Taking HMB might be just the thing to take on fasting days. And what about us older folks? I'm 77. Building and keeping muscles is tough! I think I'm going to give this a try.
Most expensive and well promoted placebo on the market. In the price of creatine, I would go for creatine, which is one of well tested and proved supplement.

I’ve heard it can help retain muscle but ONLY during a fast. It’s a bcaa metabolite and bcaas do not help either unless there is adequate other amino acids to use.
It supposedly works well for elderly but not so well in younger men supposedly if I remember correctly. I have use it with creatine and I give it a thumbs up.
I used to take it all the time, its honestly just for people who workout in a fasted state. Slows muscle breakdown and speeds up recovery. It was good at first but i found just eating a small snack or meal b4 a workout does me more justice.
HMB is not hormonal. It is a metabolite of leucine which is why it prevents muscle protein breakdown. You can take it whether you are a man, or a woman. Does not matter and will not affect your hormones at all.
I like hmb seems to give me more energy pre workout, don’t know if it’s a placebo I’m getting but I’ll continue to use it. Don’t dry scoop btw this it tastes very bitter indeed
My experience with Transparent Labs creatine/HMB supplement was a shorter time spent in the gym. E.g., decreased rest intervals, increased load/intensity, and improved overall satisfaction with gym time and work output. I was taking it along with preworkout before my lifts, the product suggests taking it 30min after your workout. I’ll be trying out the suggested directions with the last half of the tub.

@@Glyn23 Bottle? It is in powered form, what to make sure you aren't taking something else. I am 5 weeks in while on a 2 mg 2 times a day (one as a meal replacement and one as part of a pre-workout). My strength might have gone up just a small amount in certain areas, but my weight loss has come to a standstill. Wondering if I will start losing weight again or if my strength will go up more or if it is all placebo effect.
I have supplemented HMB-ca for over 8 years now. I don't like the fact that you don't get into a tldr for people who don't understand you. The basics of HMB is that it's a leucine metabolite used to prevent catabolism, it does not promote anabolism, it's used in muscle wasting diseases and those on chemo, and also in livestock. It has minimal to no effect in all moderately trained individuals. The only use it would have in trained individuals is for cuts/caloric deficits which require preventing going catabolic, the same reason I use it. It's not recommended for anyone or anything tbh. Taurine is where the magic is
Hmb + creatine can help, but in no way compared to even low dose test. Hmb has been around since 90s and prices come down significantly. But leucine is cheaper, however to leucine can spike insulin if you need to be low insulin hmb better than leucine . Hmb pretty mild on the body like creatine and best when these 2 are combined, but you need do research and find a manufacturer that has independent inspection and proof the product is what claims it is . as supplements have no regulation in u.s. and can put saw dust in it and sell you it , you have no right to know. Many times if you have digestive problems with creatine, protein powders etc it's because the product is filled with unregulated filler garbage.
If one is worried about insulin spiking, taking the leucine with a complete protein, or some fat, should slow down and regulate/smooth out that process more.
If you can afford to take about 9-10grams a day, then the stuff does actually work pretty good. Decreases muscle soreness big time, more energy, fat loss: but I think that has to do more with increased muscle mass. Reduced joint soreness. Slightly increased strength, but again I think has to do with some increase in muscle mass. Biggest thing was endurance for me. Very noticeable endurance increase after about 2 weeks. I did this for 2 months. Workout days:3g in morning, 2g before workout, 2g after, 3g at bedtime. Off days: 3g, spaced out AM, Afternoon, PM. I was 205, probably 15%BF, dropped to 193ish at around 8-10% BF. With thighs and arms about a half inch bigger. I personally had no stomach discomfort, which some people do. If the stuff were cheaper, I’d definitely use it. I just don’t think the results are worth the money you spend.
@@aphexish No problems, you just don’t continue to see the benefits. Having said that, once you increase your muscle cell size(hypertrophy) that cell remains stretched out. So, when you lose some of the muscle size you gained while taking any supplement really, you are able to gain most of it back. Basically it all depends on what your goals are. The stuff does work, but unless your body is very good at absorbing and utilizing it, you’ll just need a lot more than the dosage on the bottle. I didn’t see any negatives except for the cost. Biggest thing I noticed after stop using it for about a week was the return of muscle soreness.
10:09 your not getting soreness because you are not switching up your routine enough. Muscle memory is the reason for that, instead of weight lifting so intense crossfit excercises. Superset push ups with pull-ups/ plyo push-ups with muscle ups. Get crazy with it and punish yourself
Just to let everyone know (bc 99% of the fitness community doesn't know this): Rodent studies with regards to metabolism/microbiome/nutrition in general have absolutely zero correlation to humans because their digestion system and metabolism are inherently far too different to provide any value. Just thought you guys should know and not base decisions off of rat studies. Worth noting that anything related to neurobiology with rats is very valuable so not all rat studies are equal.

Tell me about it, the VA is my healthcare provider and they have an absolute war on "steroids." They do not even want to prescribe prednisone when I have a bad outbreak of hives from being in the sun too long. Even T for low T they make near impossible to get. It is so bad that I am continuing my TRT from sources off the net. I have to pay out of pocket but it is better than dealing with government doctors who do what bureaucrats tell them policy is rather than what is best for the patients. I imagine insurance gives doctors a lot of the same pressure and it is all about $$$$$$$.

true, but to get 3 grams of it in one sitting you would literally have to eat several pounds of those foods. more than you could physically eat in a day.
Been taking it for about 6 weeks now. Putting away 6 to 9 workouts a week and it really does not exhaust me or leave me fatigued. Never thought it could be from HMB
@@justindover859 regarding Sarms that's an issue of availability. When I was a teenage lifter in the mid 90's nobody I knew had ever heard of a SARM. Now almost all the teenage guys I work with know about them.
I used once HMB back in the days when going for losing fat, i fasted 16 hours every day and training on the gym 4 times a week and also daily hour walks. Dont really know how much it really helped my Journey but i did get the results i wanted so thats that
I'm 52, I'm in very good shape (competitive Tennis player and working out/stretching daily) therefore always eager to find something that could get me even in better shape. I know one of the most over-utilized expressions is "game changer" but man, HMB is. Big time. Strenght levels went up pretty much after just one day of use (taking 1,5gr when I wake up before working out and another 1,5gr at dinner), quality of sleep is so much better (struggled to get 6 hours in a row, now I'm getting 8+ w/o any problem). The overall feeling is that I'm assuming something that is actually good for my system, and that include my general mood. The only thing at the moment is that I didn't find any big difference on the Tennis court while the difference when working out (with weights or without them like planking, pushing up, etc) is huge. Guess that when it comes to training HMB is better for explosive force than for regular Sports but I'm curious to see if I notice any difference on the Tennis court after some weeks of use (it's just a few days now). Bottomline: HMB is a total must! Ciao
I followed Dr. Lowery & Dr. Wilson from 2015-2018, their research is dead on. I returned to the gym after a year off, I used pharmacy grade HMB, Amino Acids, Whey w/ Luciene & Dr. Wilson’s mass project routine to include the diet. In less then 30 days I went from a 95lb incline bench to a 135lb for high volume days. Is it better then steroids, I think so.
The truth is, HMB and every amino/supplement you can think of, alongside gear = unreal gains. Anavar with creatine is an unreal combo. Every supplement alongside test = unreal gains. This is what was left out in the video, and what all these influencers forget to tell people, and how almost every single one of them does in reality.
Hmb is the only thing I know that helps me lose fat and keep muscle when cutting. Before it I would always lose gains when trying to reduce fat. I don't know if it makes a difference in getting stronger though. Never seen much improvement in that regard vs anabolics.

I'm not sure if HMB was just a newer supplement when this video was made, or if the price came down dramatically, but it seems like with bulk supplements, leucine is significantly more expensive. HMB is 300 capsules/ 150 servings at 1g for $22, vs leucine 300 capsules is 30 servings, for $20, but the serving is 5g.

hmb has helped me. i,m a tradesman working 12h days. i had an right arm tendon injury for months. i was putting up with the pain, cause the moneys good. then i got a bicep muscle strain, i didn,t know what do. this hmb story popped up in my youtube stuff, so i tried it, within 5 days at 2g per day my injuryies are almost gone. i,m so happy about it. i,m 54yo.

Excellent video Thomas. Obviously this isn’t something that you can take when you’re fasting because it will spike your insulin and break your fast. But as a carpenter he takes wear and tear on the body. I would recommend taking this in the morning before you start work or at least by lunch. Catabolism in the muscle and maybe take two more grams before a workout.

I knew this when I started weight lifting in high school in 1998.
My go to supplements were HMb, CLA and creatine. Use these three with clean food and aminos and you will have a more defined muscle mass.
All of these supplements I prefer are safe as long as you follow the recommended servings and you can take more depending on your growth.
I remember when creatine first dropped. That was an amazing time. Flex magazine, Muscle and Fitness, all the hype around Cell Tech and EAS. Andro was sold at GNC. It was a great time to be in bodybuilding.

I took creatine with HMB. It was never easier to make gains in the gym, at 5'10" I used to be 225lbs with a 31in waist until I was in an accident that destroyed my shoulder. Anyway, I used to try to make myself sore but it never happened while taking HMB. People think I'm crazy when I tell them this so than you for making this video.
You and Thomas are right TRY it and see if it works for you. I am now cutting so like the fact it doesn't spike insulin.

There was a study done the UK with creatine and HMB together on longevity and they couldn't determine if there was any effect. But they did see the difference in strength increase. Plus they said that there was an increase in testosterone.from taking the two together. I had been taking them for a couple of years before I read that and it seamed like it was true to me. I was able to get better progress with them. I'm 73 years old now and you need all the help you can get at that age. Both work separately gwit well but combined it was magic. The older you are the better they work.

Not using technical names just knowing A1 A2 B1 B2 B3. This will help you to how to get to your goal. You can target them better. Also there are different systems to achieve the objective you want. Your muscles have a mind of thier own you can make them do what you want if you train them like a dog to behave, and they will obey. PS. There are percentages involved here as well like 30 to 40% targets the A muscles. Say you can lift a 100 lbs, then 30 to 40 pounds would hit these muscles with at least 20 to 30 reps. for one to to two sets. The B muscles would be 70 to 80%. The high B brut strength ones would be 85 to 90%. These all take time to work up to. Healing time can be different for each one and there is different reps as well, including sets. Also, do you want to be a body builder or a power lifter?
Years ago when I was training heavily, the best period of training I did was when I was taking a berry flavoured Met-Rx product which mixed creative and HMB. Sadly I couldn’t get hold of the product anymore. Having switched to other products here and there during my training I felt that the HMB was the difference. I didn’t know much at the time, but I became a fan of HMB lol

I went vegan for last 2 month, main source vegan protein, I had tricep pain near elbow for last 4-5 days , I ordered HMB , its not best version one like muscletech clear , but its nutrex 1000 a cheaper one, I took 2 caps today (4-5 hrs before writing this) , pain is gone, it recovered my tricep pretty fast. I think HMB 's mix result is if you are vegan kind of guy who taking kind of inferior protein , not much BCAA etc. HMB works pretty well in there .

It's good stuff. I could see the difference between working out with it and not. No noticible energy level difference for me but I see results more obvious, and quicker. Im only 10 seconds in and I want some.
I have been taking HMB for 3 weeks, before even watching this video (crazy how this came up on my youtube feed? lol) and i take 1G (1 scoop) of HMB every morning, to go along with my morning shake. I mixed it with whey protein (or half serving of weight gainer), cistanche, and pine pollen powder.
Mind you i did change my diet a bit too. I went from 4 cups of caffeinated coffee a day to just 1. I eliminated a lot of the snacks/chocolate i was eating throughout the day and my lunch strictly consists of chicken, kale/spinach, and potatoes (i'm getting tired of the same lunch LOL).
3 weeks later i can absolutely see improvements on energy levels, recovery, and strength when i workout. I find myself lifting the weights much easier, not getting fatigued midway or losing focus etc. When back in the day it felt like the same weight i was doing, i couldn't even do, even though some days i could. Some days i just couldn't. There was no consistency.
So i won't say HMB is the magic formula as i changed a lot of other things to see improvements. For 20 bucks on amazon, and 250 servings, HMB is worth trying.

@@carterhayes4624 I didn't cut all junk food out, i would say more than half though. Before i would eat cookies or a donut and coffee mid morning breakfast but it's replaced by a protein/fruit smoothie. Then for lunch i have the chicken (or salmon) with kale.spinach and potatoes. Then mid afternoon snack i would do the same thing, either chips or cookies/donut and another cup of coffee. Now that's replaced by a whey isolate protein shake. I get home from work and have decaf cup of coffee when before EVERYTHING was caffeinated coffee. Then for dinner will be whatever i can make or find.
So it's not a perfect diet but i did make some improvements. With those improvements i noticed more energy throughout the day and i just feel better. I'm sure if i went on a strict ZERO junk food diet i would feel even more amazing but i'm not trying to do all that because while it's good to start eating a bit healthier, i am trying to bulk so i need calories.
Bulk supplements have great prices. I just started getting Collagen, HMB, and L-Glutamine from this place.

I'm 50. In last 2 years I've had both hips replaced. I have an artificial knee, pinched nerves and arthritis in cervical spine as well as 2 broken vertebrae with nerve damage in my lumbar spine. My hips were going for years and I waited too long. Atrophe was an issue. Excercise is very difficult because recovery is extreme. Excercise Monday and cant function for days. Repeat.
I began taking hmb (and make sure I'm getting vitamin D outside) about two months ago. Enables me to recover and keep a routing workout schedule. I can walk stairs now without it being a project. I need fewer meds now. I cant say I know all about hmb. I just know what the result is so far. No weight loss noted but I'm just taking it one step at a time. Itll come as I grow stronger maybe

You also have to factor in the effects that exogenous testosterone has on your cardiovascular system. It increases RBC, hemoglobin and hematocrit levels already in people who are taking just 100 mg/week, sometimes to dangerous levels and you think 6 times that is going to be healthy or safe?! You're living in a fantasy dude. That much testosterone can make your blood like jelly to the point that you can have a cardiac event or even a stroke, but go ahead.

Correct. Without using a metabolic lab to control caloric intake, the study is dead in the water. Equate calories in the context of a surplus, then they can begin the study.

I'm 72, I've taken steroids and I've taken HMB and HMB most definitely builds muscle faster in older adults. About 9 months ago, I discontinued HRT (hgh, hcg and testosterone) with my doctor because the only result I saw in 18 months was a thinning head of hair. I have only been taking HMB for about 3 months. All my gains have come recently. Best shape (muscle wise) of my life and I have been an (amateur after college) athlete all my life. The HMB extends the duration of muscle density for people my age. This and H I I T has changed my physique. Cheers!

So if I lost weight vs if I gained weight I'd assume that would affect my strength. Now if it's just 1 kg difference over a month then maybe not. But I'd expect weight gain/loss to affect average outcomes.

Please someome answer. Is this safe for type 1 diabetics? I kind of got confused on the insulin spikes on this. I know diabetics cant take prohormones or anabolics. I have to be very care with what i take. Im at a point im not getting the gains id like even changing my work outs up with heavier weights shorter reps and alternating with lighter reps with more reps. Organic hexane free castor oil pack on your liver while you sleep. Add a little castor oil to the cloth every couple days. (You’ll have to apply cellophane wrap over the cloth to minimize the mess, and wear an old shirt.) Do it every night, with a heat pack for a month and see how you feel. A little DMSO on your liver before the castor oil is even more effective.
Also, take a supplement like NAC and/or TMG to increase glutathione.
To assist your kidneys with the chemo dissolve 1/4 teaspoon baking soda in 6oz water and take it 1-2 x day between meals.
I started taking HMB roughly 2 weeks ago. I do Keto and IF. I take 1.5g of HMB before my morning cardio/weight training. I take 750mg after my workouts. I take 4 750mg capsules per day. I then take my last capsule 2 hours before my last meal. For a total of 3g per day. I pay $30 for a bottle that lasts 30 days. I do my workouts in a 12 hour fasted state, as that's what works best for me. I have notice massive reduction in recovery time, more energy throughout the day, my strength has increased. Before I started HMB, I would struggle with 130 pounds squatting for 5 reps *not including the barbell*, after 2 weeks of HMB, I can do 170 pounds *again not including the barbell* for 10 reps. But with HMB, you have to take it everyday and try to take it at the same time everyday to notice the changes.

I give most things a try and have no expectations really. Most stuff is minimally effective, if at all. I take 1g HMB morning, afternoon and night. I got it from the local big box chemist, $30 AUD for 60 x 1g capsules
Within in a few days I found levels of intensity and strength gains I haven't seen in quite a while. The range of motion seems smoother and I was able to "find more" at the end of sets : leads to a pretty intense workout, so be prepared for that. As an example, say your best working set weight is 200lds on a lift for 10 reps at 5sets, you might feel stronger whilst doing 215lds for sets.
I'll need to see how the body composition settles out after 10 to 12 weeks on it. Currently cutting some mud from the midsection so this strength is impressive.
TLDR, i'm supplementing with 3gs a day and confirm decent effects, at least for myself.

HMB has been debated for over 25 years. And still no real answer to if It works.or not I first read about it in Muscle Media 2000. If I try it. I would probably start with 3 grams a day. And maybe later add 400mg of ATP. But if it really works it would of caught on by now.

I may still have one of the first issues of MM2K where Bill Phillips was breaking the news on HMB. I tried one of the first batches before it was EAS branded. It -may- have helped with recovery? But I was much younger back then so maybe it’s more beneficial as you age.

I was taking HMB but it really irritated nerves in my hands. Like they swelled and even the smallest contact was excruciating pain.
I’ve used HMB before and now just got on it again and recently I’ve had joint pain from working out 4 days a week and training jiujitsu. My experience is my joint pain started to go away literally and I don’t mean to post this just to talk but I mean it literally went away the first day I got back on HMB ( no joke ) I take muscle tech HMB it’s a great product. I was also feeling like I wasn’t recovering fully as of late due to all my training. Now I feel fantastic it’s what I really needed. I did research the first time I got on it just to make sure I wasn’t harming my own health taking it. I’m 47 years old and seeing the positive research made me want to use it and I have no regrets. I highly recommend it. Even if you don’t believe me try to research it first and have your own assumptions. I absolutely love it I know the p90x guy has a HMB product I saw which I see positive reviews it’s worth checking out.
Same thing happened to me. I'm in my 50's and was just taking Creatine. I was sore all the time so I wasn't training as much. As soon as I started taking HMB, the muscle soreness went away. It literally disappeared the next day. I do get muscle fatigue which prevents me from training everyday but the soreness is minimal even after a very hard work out. The other side effect I noticed is that I'm constantly hungry, famished in fact.

I’ve heard it can help retain muscle but ONLY during a fast. It’s a bcaa metabolite and bcaas do not help either unless there is adequate other amino acids to use.
It supposedly works well for elderly but not so well in younger men supposedly if I remember correctly. I have use it with creatine and I give it a thumbs up.
I used to take it all the time, its honestly just for people who workout in a fasted state. Slows muscle breakdown and speeds up recovery. It was good at first but i found just eating a small snack or meal b4 a workout does me more justice.

HMB is not hormonal. It is a metabolite of leucine which is why it prevents muscle protein breakdown. You can take it whether you are a man, or a woman. Does not matter and will not affect your hormones at all.

It boosted my energy also and on the first day I took it. You’re the only person I see mentioned that.
My experience with Transparent Labs creatine/HMB supplement was a shorter time spent in the gym. E.g., decreased rest intervals, increased load/intensity, and improved overall satisfaction with gym time and work output. I was taking it along with preworkout before my lifts, the product suggests taking it 30min after your workout. I’ll be trying out the suggested directions with the last half of the tub.

@@imlevitating___ it took about two weeks. I thought I’d been ripped off but because I’m a cheapskate, was determined to finished the bottle. Then noticed the weights ide been struggling with was all of a sudden easy.
Could have been a million things, but I think that HMB helped.
@@Glyn23 Bottle? It is in powered form, what to make sure you aren't taking something else. I am 5 weeks in while on a 2 mg 2 times a day (one as a meal replacement and one as part of a pre-workout). My strength might have gone up just a small amount in certain areas, but my weight loss has come to a standstill. Wondering if I will start losing weight again or if my strength will go up more or if it is all placebo effect.

I don't like the fact that you don't get into a tldr for people who don't understand you.
The basics of HMB is that it's a leucine metabolite used to prevent catabolism, it does not promote anabolism, it's used in muscle wasting diseases and those on chemo, and also in livestock.
It has minimal to no effect in all moderately trained individuals.
The only use it would have in trained individuals is for cuts/caloric deficits which require preventing going catabolic, the same reason I use it.
It's not recommended for anyone or anything tbh. Taurine is where the magic is

Hmb + creatine can help, but in no way compared to even low dose test. Hmb has been around since 90s and prices come down significantly. But leucine is cheaper, however to leucine can spike insulin if you need to be low insulin hmb better than leucine . Hmb pretty mild on the body like creatine and best when these 2 are combined, but you need do research and find a manufacturer that has independent inspection and proof the product is what claims it is . as supplements have no regulation in u.s. and can put saw dust in it and sell you it , you have no right to know. Many times if you have digestive problems with creatine, protein powders etc it's because the product is filled with unregulated filler garbage.
If one is worried about insulin spiking, taking the leucine with a complete protein, or some fat, should slow down and regulate/smooth out that process more.

If you can afford to take about 9-10grams a day, then the stuff does actually work pretty good. Decreases muscle soreness big time, more energy, fat loss: but I think that has to do more with increased muscle mass. Reduced joint soreness. Slightly increased strength, but again I think has to do with some increase in muscle mass. Biggest thing was endurance for me. Very noticeable endurance increase after about 2 weeks. I did this for 2 months. Workout days:3g in morning, 2g before workout, 2g after, 3g at bedtime. Off days: 3g, spaced out AM, Afternoon, PM. I was 205, probably 15%BF, dropped to 193ish at around 8-10% BF. With thighs and arms about a half inch bigger. I personally had no stomach discomfort, which some people do. If the stuff were cheaper, I’d definitely use it. I just don’t think the results are worth the money you spend.

@@aphexish No problems, you just don’t continue to see the benefits. Having said that, once you increase your muscle cell size(hypertrophy) that cell remains stretched out. So, when you lose some of the muscle size you gained while taking any supplement really, you are able to gain most of it back. Basically it all depends on what your goals are. The stuff does work, but unless your body is very good at absorbing and utilizing it, you’ll just need a lot more than the dosage on the bottle. I didn’t see any negatives except for the cost. Biggest thing I noticed after stop using it for about a week was the return of muscle soreness.

10:09 your not getting soreness because you are not switching up your routine enough. Muscle memory is the reason for that, instead of weight lifting so intense crossfit excercises. Superset push ups with pull-ups/ plyo push-ups with muscle ups. Get crazy with it and punish yourself
When a survey study based on several of the available research publications it was found that HMB wasn’t very effective.
Just to let everyone know (bc 99% of the fitness community doesn't know this): Rodent studies with regards to metabolism/microbiome/nutrition in general have absolutely zero correlation to humans because their digestion system and metabolism are inherently far too different to provide any value. Just thought you guys should know and not base decisions off of rat studies. Worth noting that anything related to neurobiology with rats is very valuable so not all rat studies are equal.

IF...IF..it really grew muscles better than roids. The government would make it a controlled substance. Anything that really works..will be removed or under government control.
Tell me about it, the VA is my healthcare provider and they have an absolute war on "steroids." They do not even want to prescribe prednisone when I have a bad outbreak of hives from being in the sun too long. Even T for low T they make near impossible to get. It is so bad that I am continuing my TRT from sources off the net. I have to pay out of pocket but it is better than dealing with government doctors who do what bureaucrats tell them policy is rather than what is best for the patients. I imagine insurance gives doctors a lot of the same pressure and it is all about $$$$$$$.

Hey, I have just done my search and HMB is naturally found in Avocado, Cauliflower, Grapefruit and Alfalfa, all vegan foods. Not bad, isn't it?
true, but to get 3 grams of it in one sitting you would literally have to eat several pounds of those foods. more than you could physically eat in a day.
Been taking it for about 6 weeks now. Putting away 6 to 9 workouts a week and it really does not exhaust me or leave me fatigued. Never thought it could be from HMB

I used once HMB back in the days when going for losing fat, i fasted 16 hours every day and training on the gym 4 times a week and also daily hour walks. Dont really know how much it really helped my Journey but i did get the results i wanted so thats that

I'm 52, I'm in very good shape (competitive Tennis player and working out/stretching daily) therefore always eager to find something that could get me even in better shape. I know one of the most over-utilized expressions is "game changer" but man, HMB is. Big time. Strenght levels went up pretty much after just one day of use (taking 1,5gr when I wake up before working out and another 1,5gr at dinner), quality of sleep is so much better (struggled to get 6 hours in a row, now I'm getting 8+ w/o any problem). The overall feeling is that I'm assuming something that is actually good for my system, and that include my general mood. The only thing at the moment is that I didn't find any big difference on the Tennis court while the difference when working out (with weights or without them like planking, pushing up, etc) is huge. Guess that when it comes to training HMB is better for explosive force than for regular Sports but I'm curious to see if I notice any difference on the Tennis court after some weeks of use (it's just a few days now). Bottomline: HMB is a total must! Ciao
I followed Dr. Lowery & Dr. Wilson from 2015-2018, their research is dead on. I returned to the gym after a year off, I used pharmacy grade HMB, Amino Acids, Whey w/ Luciene & Dr. Wilson’s mass project routine to include the diet. In less then 30 days I went from a 95lb incline bench to a 135lb for high volume days. Is it better then steroids, I think so.
Where did you buy that grade stuff?
The truth is, HMB and every amino/supplement you can think of, alongside gear = unreal gains. Anavar with creatine is an unreal combo. Every supplement alongside test = unreal gains. This is what was left out in the video, and what all these influencers forget to tell people, and how almost every single one of them does in reality.
Hmb is the only thing I know that helps me lose fat and keep muscle when cutting. Before it I would always lose gains when trying to reduce fat. I don't know if it makes a difference in getting stronger though. Never seen much improvement in that regard vs anabolics.
