    Just an anecdote - been on blood pressure med for about a decade. Started taking TMG and a multivitamin with methylated forms of several of them about 2 months ago.
    I have had to cut my BP med in half because I checked my BP after feeling very sluggish and it was 110/69 when it’s typically 135/85 while on meds. Have cut it in half for 4 days and it’s still perfect so it’s possible I get off the med completely in the near future. It’s the real deal for the right people.
    Great topic, Tom!

    • @synthclub
      @synthclub Před 4 měsíci +9

      Dude it's not he tmg... It's the methylated B12, 6 that fixed your bp. Or more specifically your vascular system... (I had the same experience with my BP, all my issues have disappeared after the B12, and B6 supplimention.

    • @WideAwakeHuman
      @WideAwakeHuman Před 4 měsíci +8

      @@synthclub yeah could be, although I don’t think you can actually know that - they are sort of synergistic in that you’re adding the ability to methylate so it’s possible the TMG would’ve had an effect on its own but who knows.
      There are studies clearly showing TMG lowering homocysteine which can have a lowering effect on the BP so it’s possible either one alone can have this effect and both together are better. I haven’t seen any studies on methylated B vitamins, but have done the research on TMG and it clearly has the potential, alone, to lower BP. Either way, I’m happy with it.

      @moonstrukk126 Před 4 měsíci

      @@chadh9457 My doctor tested me about 7 years ago because I was struggling with pain, fatigue and some clear nervous system issues. Turns out B vitamins are critical to the function of the hypothalamus, which regulates the autonomic nervous system.
      It's a cheap supplement, TMG AKA, betaine androhydrous and it has few to no side effects. My 85 year old father is starting it as well. He has not been tested but he also takes methylated B vitamins because it's very possible that he has the mutation as well, and these supplements do not cause any harm.
      My mother died of "Parkinson's" but it was not diagnosed as such until she was 78 because she had almost no symptoms, just some very mild shaking. I think she had a lifetime of b vitamin deficiency which caused problems that weren't necessarily huge until they were. My poor mom went from functioning pretty well to sever vertigo, dysphasia, dystonia and couldn't get out of bed and death within 6 months. So, I'm very focused on this area of information. I'd definitely give it a go, it's tasteless ( the TMG) I just throw it in water a few times a day. I love it during my workouts, I also take NMN which definitely helped with my energy.

    I drink plenty of water everyday, but whenever I fill my water bottle I'd put in small scoops of creatine, TMG, L-citrulline and L-leucine. So it's pretty much like I'm dosing small quantities of these all day long. I've been doing that for the past couple of years, drinking at least 3 liters a day from my water bottle that's been spiked with these compounds and I can really feel the difference. I get tired less easily. I can get by with less sleep on long days. My focus is better. I can do longer evening runs and more intense weight training with very fast recovery times and hardly any muscle and joint soreness. For a guy that's past my mid-40s, this concoction certainly feels like an anti-aging potion to me.

    Thank you, Thomas!! High homocysteine in conjunction with elevated uMMA also indicates a B12 deficiency. Never rely on serum B12 testing. My point: If you lower your homocysteine with TMG, you might be missing the true cause of why it's elevated. Read "Could it be B12" by Sally Pacholok.

    Excellent material & very helpful; Quick clarification question for you: I've always been taught that DNA methylation is associated with silencing of gene expression & that when methyl groups are present, that gene is turned off or silenced & no protein is produced from that gene. Can you clarify or help to understand how to think of "methylation as a switch that turns on certain gene functions, etc?" I couldn't find an email address to ask you privately; I stay off social media deliberately; I'm sure I'm missing some important detail, so please help. AJ.

    Might want to add in that betaine is a choline metabolite, thus tmg should help preserve choline. Alpha gpc and citi-choline are likely made more available as they won't be converted to betaine.
    Also creatine works with methylation as well, thus stacking all three likley magnify the methylation pool.
    Finakly, Taurine increases betaine's effetiveness by restoring bhmt activity that downregulates as you increase betaine supplementation.

    • @garyschomberger2291
      @garyschomberger2291 Před 4 měsíci

      Help me out here are you saying that TGM supplementation down regulates bhmt and that Taurine is a way to "buffer" this effect?

    • @alexzbiciak
      @alexzbiciak Před 4 měsíci +2

      Look up taurine restore bhmt activity. A lot of things down regulate via feedback. If more homocysteine goes down the transulfuration pathway, then we could see increased taurine being formed. It makes sense to balance, thus once taurine hits a high enough threshold, bhmt would turn up activity to restore methione recycleing via betaine(tmg) and folate. Im not positive this is why, but the feedback from taurine would make sense.
      The down side is that this could mean less glutathione because homocysteine wont be taken down the transulfuration pathway.

    • @chadh9457
      @chadh9457 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@alexzbiciak I think a simpler way of saying it is that Taurine supplementation inhibits homocysteine conversion to cysteine... thus creating an excess in homocysteine which will /necessarily/ lead to higher activation of BHMT and MTR... It is the excess of homocysteine which creates the increase in activity and personally I don't really want to increase my homocysteine levels just to activate higher conversion from homocysteine, that doesn't make sense to me. If people want to increase taurine and glutathione and conversion of homocysteine to methionine then I would recommend focussing on consuming cofactors for enzymes along those pathways and not to supplement end products like taurine, but that is just my opinion.

    Not sure if you will see this since its been awhile, but It tried this for a few weeks and decided to stop after two blood test. I had been taking this for 2 weeks prior to a blood test and my AST and ALT levels were off the charts, talking 4-5x higher than the max range. To be fair I had taken it 2-3 hrs before the blood test, but still surprising results. My doctor was shocked and wanted a re-test. 2nd time around I didn't take TMG prior to blood test and was well within the normal range. I quit it completely after.

    • @chadh9457
      @chadh9457 Před 4 měsíci +2

      Like he said the TMG has three methyl groups attached to the amino. The methionine cycle's main feature is the recycling of homocysteine back into SAMe. Since SAMe is the primary methyl donor in numerous biochemical processes in the body, it is critically important that the methionine cycle functions properly. If the methionine cycle is dysfunctional, methylation
      becomes inhibited and homocysteine levels may increase.

      The problem is that quinoa can vary in the amount of betaine by 10 fold. The range is from 0.061g to 0.63g for 100g dryweight of quinoa. According to the same source, a 100g of Beetroot (canned) varies from 0.26g to 0.33g. While a 100g of Wheat Bran has an amount ranging from 0.23g to 0.72g. A 100g of amaranth varies widely like quinoa, from 0.065g to 0.74g.

    TMG lowers blood pressure.
    Many people will need to have their prescribing physician adjust their medication(s). Some have to come off heart medications.
    If your body is happy with a lower blood pressure this is good. Your arteries are stronger ( they are muscles in your arteries) & healthier. This can be seen in your skeletal muscle growth.
