      He did the same at Monaco as well. That version of the Ferrari had no right to be on pole. It was there because Michael put it there.

      96 and 97 seasons were his peak performance, driving garbage cars to poles and wins

      @@erminiopreziosi1967I'd say the '97 car was still rather average, Schumi did very well to be leading the championship for most of the season, even considering Villeneuve being error prone

    If the rear suspension failure wasnt so easy to spot people would be saying the spin was intentional by the Michael.

    What Schumi did and put it on pole is such an extraordinary achievement taking into account the more competitve Williams

    That '96 Ferrari was garbage, but still looked and sounded great.
    Anyone else miss that chicane before the start/finish line?

      It wasn't that bad. Irvine had some good results in that car as well. But Ferrari used Irvine''s car as a testing ground, so he had many reliability related DNFs. But Ferrari did many important steps with that car, especially ditching the bulky V12 engines and adapting the high nose.

    Say what you want, for me, this ferrari looks wise is among the all time favourites. It wasn't a rocket, poor handling, but these allowed Michael to showcase his amazing talent. The skills he demonstrated keeping the car on circuit during the argentinian gp as an example, was more impressive than some of Hamilton's titles. 96 was also an amazing year for Bulls fans. In a 2000 interview Michael said, outside f1 the person he looks up to the most is MJ.

    I completely forgot at this time, F1 had paddle shifting and at this time/era the USA's Indy Car's were still doing gear shifting where they had to lift one hand off of the wheel to change gears.

      imagine irvine (beat barrichello early career, and herbert ,so he's a decent driver), was outpaced by 1.3 seconds. Post 2005 we have never seen gaps this big (even lewis or prime seb was 0.5-0.8)

    • @bbbazzinga
      @bbbazzinga Před 12 dny +1

      @ajitrajendran63 We saw this kind of gaps between max and several of his teammates but yeah, this is peak Schumacher. Only a very few drivers in all of history could have a chance at beating him throughout an entire season and with equal machinery.

    Wow, stop this clip at 1:19 to 1:20 and watch the left rear wheel. Schumacher was glad, that the Tamburello was already slowed down in 1996. Otherwise this could be ended like Senna

      Agree. When Hamilton does not have the best car on the grid he will not play any role for the podium at all. This was with McLaren and now Mercedes. The same with Ferrari if this contract is valid.

      Kids really love hating nowadays. Tell me any driver for the past 20 years who got pole in a shitbox on pure pace? Nobody’s gonna get pole from 1sec slower machinery nowadays. The cars became a much bigger factor than even 20 years ago. Pointless comment

    If that had happened when the chicane was not there, like when Senna died, Schumacher might have gone out the same out.

      @Balnazzardi Před 11 dny +1

      True. In moden days safety has improved so much that in my honest opinion those corners should be removed or atleast changed in order to create more overtaking opportunities. Its good they removed the last chickane already but even so Imola still produces quite boring races with its current layout, just like in 90s and early 2000s
