Huge Beaver Dam Taken Down By Excavator

  • A huge beaver dam taken down by excavator. I removed the beaver dam with an excavator from a big beaver pond. Draining the beaver pond with the excavator. Beaver bond was on both sides of the highway connected with the culvert pipe. Beaver dam removal! Big beaver flood and beaver damage.
    Road service ordered a beaver dam removal of us because beavers raised the water level so high that it will have an impact to the road dam. We took the excavator and removed the dam. All the water flowed onto my estate. Big beaver flood and beaver damage.

    The best way to control beavers is to dig a channel through the dam. Then place a perforated metal culvert in the channel extending maybe 20 feet in front and behind the dam. The beavers cannot hear the running water and will not try to plug up the culvert !! Try it, it works great !!

The 1960s reintroduction of the beavers has been way too successful with limited predators now and the Soviet construction of the drainage systems under fields and the drainage canals.

Beavers never cease to amaze me at how much damage (or beautification) they can achieve with just their teeth and their flat tails. I have a beaver pond that abuts my property that has been there at least 25 or more years. The fact that their dam has lasted as long as it has is mind blowing TBH.

    Always interesting to see what it looks like with the water gone.

    • @AFHProjects
      @AFHProjects  Před 6 měsíci

      Yeah, the areas that you can't see when it's under the water.

    Ever hear the phrase “busy as a beaver”? They’ll just come back and do it again.. might take a while, but they will.

    This is where a drone would be helpful to show down stream! just a thought.

    • @AFHProjects
      @AFHProjects  Před 4 lety +1

      Yep. The drone would be very helpful but it's out of my budget right now.

    Drain the swamp. Wish excavators worked in Washington.

  • @neoskhaos
    @neoskhaos Před 4 lety +1

    Did u have to remove all of it? And now to prevent water rising so high when they rebuild ...?

    • @AFHProjects
      @AFHProjects  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes, we removed all we can. We didn't prevent that. If you wanna prevent that, then you can add a long pipe into the dam. So the beavers don't see where the water is going..

    Как красиво, Я бы всё это зачистила, высушила болото всё по хозяйски, весь сухостой и ненужные деревья срезать, почистить дно может и углубить немного. Весь берег и всё убрать, пустить опять воду, красивое озеро было-бы, и малёк запустить вот ещё и рыбалка с отдыхом. Ручушку тоже не мешало бы убрать берега подкорректировать, да и вообще нужно любить природу.!!
