Gordon scored this superb chart for a good high school jazz ensemble to be played around 126 BPM with a straight-eighth feel into a rock groove. The saxes start things off a capella then things heat up in a quirky but clever "Goodwin" way. Solo space is provided for a variety of players with separate sample solos provided for C, B-flat, E-flat, and trombone soloists. An auxiliary percussion part plus all the usual optional parts plus vibes are included. (5:35)

Can somebody please explain to me how solos and chords work
Chords in solos are guidelines for what notes you need to play
You can solo over chords using a blues scale to match the key (which is taking the easy way) or You could use the notes of the chord, plus the scale to go with it. For example, a Bb7 chord has the notes B, D, F, and Ab, so you can solo using those note, and the notes in between.( But usually keep in the key unless you can get away with it)
