How to Use Stripe for Recurring Payments & Payment Plans (Tutorial)

  • I've got another Stripe tutorial coming your way today! Some of you guys have asked me how to set up recurring payments on Stripe as well as how to do payment plans on stripe, if you are for example charging 12 payments of $XXX for a course or coaching program. So Stripe calls this subscriptions - so I will show you how to set up subscriptions on Stripe but have it have an actual end date, rather than recurring forever.
    So this tutorial is super to the point! I already talked about how to do this in the original Stripe tutorial but I know that one was a bit longer, so I figured doing one JUST for this purpose may be easier.
    So this is how to do it. As a heads up though I personally do not set up my payment plans directly in Stripe. Instead, I integrate Stripe with my checkout software that automates it all for me, as well as integrating other payment gateway merchant options together such as Paypal and Apple Pay.
    I use Thrivecart for my checkout software: heartbehindhustle.com/thrivecart

      It does include the initial payment. I just tested this on myself charging myself a $1 a day to figure this out. I set it for 3 cycles and after I paid the initial invoice it did charge me for 3 more invoices making it 4 payments in total. So I think you have to subtract one if you wanted them to pay over 3 months. Then they pay the first invoice then you set the cycle for 2 more months then that would make 3 payments.

    I need some assistance with finding a service provider that will allow my clients to pay my fee in installments. Does Stripe offer that and if they do, will you guide me through the steps or make another video piggy backing off this one?

      Yes you’ll want to create a payment link for that, I have another video that explains how to do it although I think it’s gotten even easier since I made that video.

    Hi..if recurring payment is declined. What is the step to charge and make sure the invoice is updates and show next recurring date?

    • @heartbehindhustle
      @heartbehindhustle  Pƙed rokem +1

      It doesn’t update the date, the original date for re bill stays unless you pause or cancel it so if it fails it will continue to attempt the charge but it will still get the next payment billed as scheduled regardless

    Greetings Kamila, I appreciate your knowledge. Please help me out. I offer style services and I.e if a package is $800 and I require 50% deposit. If the person does two installments will that mean stripe will be charging me twice for their fees I believe? Services will be completed in 1-3 days so I don’t see an option for that. Thanks in advance for getting back 😊

      They take 30 cents plus 2.8% of each transaction so if you have 2 payments then they’ll take fees from each payment

    What happens when you DONT know the customer and you have links in your emails or on you website that users can click on to sign up etc. Point being, after you filled out "product" in your vid, you said " now we need to go to customer" etc But what happens if you just want to create a product and link to have on your site for potential customers to subscribe with, whereby their month starts on the day they sign up?

      I wouldn’t agree. Thrivecart is still a great tool to use in addition. Stripe on its own doesn’t have affiliate management, Course hosting, funnels, or even offering PayPal as an option for some payments.
