- Here’s my review on the PSX DESR-7700 with an original Matrix Infinity modchip installed!
It was a lot of fun to talk about the PSX, however since this is the longest video I have released to date, I will be leaving some chapters in case there are topics of interest you want to watch over others!
Chapters:
0:00 Introduction - What is a PSX?
1:57 Form Factor of the PSX
8:16 The PSX OS
15:38 Matrix Infinity Menu and features
23:47 Pros and Cons of the Matrix Infinity
29:00 Two Laser Lenses inside
30:17 Free McBoot Compatibility
31:48 Types of games to test on the PSX
32:58 MechaPwn - Brief Summary

If you are trying to create a PSX compatible Free McBoot memory cares, I followed this video's tutorial:
• How To Install FMCB On...
I also want to give credit where it's due. The modder who worked on installing the Matrix Infinity goes by Gusse. Here is the link to the Matrix Infinity install in this PSX:

Awesome vídeo!!!! :-O
Thank you!!
Cool videos man. I am looking at an ebay listing for one of these cib w freemcboot and english menu… i would def need a matrix mod chip installed right? Where can I find one today? Can you link me to one? Thanks.
Awesome video I have a 7100 myself though surprised yours takes so long too boot mind takes 10 seconds 15 at a push an it’s up and running on the xmb
I always have think that sony and other companies should release the source code for olds devices that they no longer support. This would alow to restore a lot of psx for example.
So - what discs CAN this read in A) Factory settings B) Modbo C) Free McBoot. Is there any reason to use the hard mod and soft mod combo? What does MechaPwn add to the mix?
Great question!
A) Factory Settings will only read Japanese PS1, PS2 games and Region 2 DVDs.
B) Modbo/Matrix Infinity will allow all region PS1 and PS2 gameplay (both original and backups), but unfortunately there is some interference with DVD movie playback.
C) MechaPwn will allow Japanese PS1 original and backup discs (unfortunately no US PS1 discs can be played either originals or backups), all region PS2 discs but only originals, and Region 2 DVD movie playback.
Hey @Phatnightmares
i have bought me a PSX but it has the problem that it ejects the discs immediately.
So i thought maybe it is a problem with the ribbon cables for the disc drive. Do you know which cables i need to buy for the disc drive? I cannot find anything about the cables or a service manual... cheers :)
My suggestion would be to open up the console and see what the problem might be. If you check out my channel, I have a tear down video that can help you take this apart.
@@Ex_Savior i already opened the console. I just wanna know if you know which ribbon cables for the disc drive i need, because i cannot find anything with the serialnumber on the cables
@@PSXHeaven actually try this.

I ordered this ribbon cable a while back, but I never got to test it. It should be the correct amount of pins. However, I strongly advise to do your own research to see which ribbon cable will work. No guarantees with this one.
@@Ex_Savior ok thx. Could have been that you knew which one is needed :)
Do you update your psx to 2.11 firmware? I posted the link in your reddit
Yes! Thank you!
you should run some psp games on it!
Actually the PSX is only D1/D2 via D-Terminal, so 480p MAX.
You know, you’re right. I read the manual and it does say that 480p is the max resolution out, but how do you explain 1080i support then? For example: there are a small handful of games that output at 1080i, one of those being Gran Turismo 4. The PSX DESR 7700 (and other models according to my testing) can output 1080i as well.
@@Ex_Savior My guess is when the PSX was designed and the manual was made, no one expected game designers to push limits and output games on the PS2 at 1080i. (That's a lot of pixels to push)
