@josephthemighty Maybe not the biggest men but certainly big men. Shot put and discus throw are very similar to punching (discus is basically a glancing hook and shot put is a palm strike) and I'm willing to bet that with minimal training a world class shot putter would punch far harder than any light weight boxer. You need long arms for maximum acceleration and leverage in a punch so someone like Floyd Mayweather could never punch nearly as hard as someone the size of Hulk Hogan; especially in punches involving circular motion like hooks.

Rocky 2 had premiere June 15th, 1979 so if Stallone started shooting scenes for Rocky 3 during fall 79, spring 1980 - then the Hulk would be correct. However, Hulk Hogan received the initial offer to be in the movie after a wrestling match against André the Giant at Shea Stadium. This wasn't the first match Hulk did with Andre at the Shea Stadium, but the 2nd one - that took place in august 1980. So Stallone saw the 2nd match between Andre The Giant and Hulk Hogan and decided there and then to cast him as Thunderlips. Rocky 3 would then premiere in may 1982, so it was probably in late 1980-1981 that most of the shooting took place.

Hogan was bigger than Rock and Austin and you are reading this ready to reply and disagree but you have to remember wrestling in early 80s was a very very niche audience with promotions all over the country with local TV in each area so there wasn't a national promotion...Hogan comes a long and makes the WWF expand nationally and he ended up on the cover of Sports Illustrated and back then pre internet magazines were huge and a SI cover only went to premiere sports athletes and with that WWF found themselves on NBC and Wrestlemania was formed thereafter...the rest is history...Stone Cold and Rock were huge stars with mainstream attention but Hulk Hogan got mainstream attention without the help of the internet and still became a household name...that is the definition of star power

There are lots of powerlifters out there that can deadlift, dquat and bench over 350...heck..there are many that can do that with around 500 pounds. And their about Stallone's size of smaller. I guess Stallone focused on "bodybuilding" than strength (Powerlifters, Olympic Weightlifters).
