Hey, can I use this book when I have water rower as well? What will I be missing out on something?
I don’t see the link to your ebook
@@lisathompson1153 , www.trainingtall.net/shop . Good luck!
I just bought a home rowing machine and I'm already stronger
To anyone who disagrees, this is exactly the technique that Ivy League rowers do when they are training inside, it’s how we perfect our technique and reduce back injuries. Feet out is the best way to erg. Solid video.
Thanks man, I appreciate. I come from the college club rowing scene (didn't row in high school)... I admire the dedication and work ethic of the Ivy League teams. Good luck this spring!
Wow so excited to try and very happy I stumbled across this
will do I row anywhere from 8000 to 10000 meters at a time, will try this technique
I row every day 30 mins about 4700 to 5300 meters depending on how hard I row. I'm going to start doing this technique. I'm sure it will kick my ass. I'll report back.
100% agreed. I was a D1 rower at St. Joe’s University in Philly and we would do entire pieces on the Erg with feet out. It focuses on the proper leg drive and prevents you from rushing the slide on the recovery. Keep up the great work with these instructional videos.
I'm 42 and thanks to your tips, i'm getting a sixpack for the first time ever. Thank you.
AMAZING, Raf!! Keep up the great work, man!
Awesome! 👍
@rafael , hello. This is awesome. Do you provide online training/guidance for a few?

@@djsrze5808 I'm not a trainer. I just followed this channels tips.
Holy smokes! I didn't even realize that I wasn't engaging my core. Apparently, I've been keeping my back mostly vertical. I tried going past vertical today, and it's like a whole new workout. Thanks, man! 👍
Dude i love how you teach everything and break it down in a professional and kind manner. Rowing has gotten me back in shape after I left the Navy.
I appreciate it, Garrett. Thanks man! Happy to hear it's been keeping you in shape!
7:41 EST. I’m 75 and started rowing (2) months ago. I found your instructional videos a few weeks ago and find extremely helpful.
I row every other day for (30-40) minutes and alternate on the stationary bike every other day (5-6) days a week. Once a week I do them both back to back. Anyway your videos are great both informative and instructional. What I need to improve my time rowing. Thanks!
I've been doing feet out because I get to lazy to strap in and turns out it's been benefitting me this whole time lol
ayyyy nice!
Great tip....Rowing is a great exercise; It incorporates 80% of the total musculature of the body in it's motion.
Never thought of releasing the confines of the foot strap.
Thanks for these videos about rowing and how to properly use a rowing machine. They have been extremely helpful!
Newbie rower here and absolutely loving and appreciate your videos! I've been spending the last few sessions working and focusing on proper form.its a mental workout as well! It will probably take me a few weeks to perfect it
Informative vid in less than 5 min 👍🏼 keep up the good work
Appreciate the comment. Thanks, friend!
I tried this today for the first time, and experienced an immediate improvement in stroke power. Combined with the forced slower SPM necessary to keep my feet in the feet rests, and I added another 100 meters to my 30min rowing distance. I'm rowing this way from now on. Thank you for the great info.
Recently joined a gym for the first time and got on the rowing machine, I wasn't sure of the technique. Thanks for the great video.
Cheers mate, just hit holidays and doing a lot of training, and this will definitely be in my schedule throughout
Great Vid..I have been rowing for years on the concept 2 and NEVER thought of not using the straps. Always thought the straps were for safety and for help with the last 500 meters BURN. Now, because of your info I warm up 2 min without being strapped in..wow..what a difference and a great way to check the correct technique..Thanks and thanks again because now my wife loves watching you and she now rows.
Thanks for the form lesson. I tried it out, much slower until I get better at it, but I can feel a significant difference in the core and lats. I am doings legs, arms and then core to pull the rowing handle back and under my chin. My abdominal muscles are now so much more involved and I realize that the (broken up) session of 500 or 1100 strokes will now be diminished but much more effective for my core and other muscles. I simply took the straps off and had no problem. Thanks
Excellent, concise video. Thank you mate, I used a rowing machine first time today, enjoyed it and this has helped tremendously!
Love the directness...no bs: just great instruction!
Thank you for this information. I started rowing about 2 months ago and my posture has really improved. I’m excited to use this new tip to engage my core more.
WoW! That was a real eye opener! Without the feet in the core is instantly put to use and engage. Thanks!
Thank you so much! I've improved a lot since I watched your video and followed your advice! ❤️
This was a GAME CHANGER for me, thank you! As a newbie rower I started out rowing vertically, then attempted to learn proper form but think I overcompensated and went too far back on my row, which would lead to my lats feeling like they were on fire. I couldn’t go more than 15 minutes straight and it was a miserable experience. Took my feet out and voila I can’t go too far back or my feet will come off. Did a whole workout without pain and have the best core burn afterwards 🎉
Thanks so much for this! Glad I "Googled" rowing because I just finished my first gym session and heard rowing was a good full body workout. I did it for 15 minutes and felt it along with blistering hands...I also learned now from several videos I *may* have been doing it slightly wrong. Thanks for the instruction. I'd prefer to get a good workout with correct form than look like a doofus and get nothing out of it.
Hello people. I am a new subscriber to this channel. I find it super helpful and will be purchasing the concept 2 by early March. I have never rowed a stroke in my life. I have so many questions, but I will keep watching so hopefully they will eventually get answered.
Thank you for the tips, i just started rowing and i love it! Thanks to you im seeing results ✌🏼
I am SO happy to hear that, Karla! Keep up the awesome work :)
Very original insight/take on rowing technique. Definately will add another element to my training. Thanks for this.
I appreciate the kind comment - I am glad you found the info helpful! Would love to know how it works out for you!
Most sensible rowing instruction video I’ve seen. Short and sweet.
That means a lot - I do my best! Thanks!
Trying this in the morning. Love the rowing machine.
I just started rowing and is so much fun! I watch your vids as a guide.
You have an awesome body, congrats!
Hello got a machine in December, been using it ever since, started out doing tension 2 doing 25 rows, now upto tension 5 out of 8 upto 50 to 100 rows in a day. Have been following along, and love the results. Thanks
Excellent advice 👌
Especially like this video and the fact that you can do the feet out in your warmup. I’ve been rowing for fat burning for about 5 years now and it’s the fountain of youth for me at 63 years old. I do it 4 times a week for 30 mins and do it a couple of hours before the gym.
You Rock! Thanks for sharing your information. It's a great help.
Nice man! Nice & quick video 🙂
Excellent! Thanks for the great tip!
These rowing videos have been so helpful. Thanks so much! Also subscribed! 💜
I'm so glad you like the videos! Thanks, Lise! :)
Hey man, it's a good video. Thanks for it. Help me a lot... I've just started work out with rowing machine 2 months ago. So this video helped me a very lot. Thx. :)
Sweet. I tried this today, and I can feel it in my abs after the workout. Thank you for the tip!!
Rock on, Kish! Awesome man - keep up the great work!
Love your videos!! You seem like a fantastic trainer!
Excited to try this tomorrow! Thank you!
Don't fall off, Steph!! ;) You got this!
Same!
My first of your intermediate workouts!! AWESOME!! 😎😎😎
This is very helpful! I'm gonna try this tomorrow during my workout.
Omg what a great tip! Thank you so much. Every time I row I don’t feel like it’s working out anything, but after doing it they way you suggested and I could totally feel my core working! Which is exactly what this moms body needs.
Yay!! Glad to hear that this technique could help you "feel it more" when you row! Keep up the great work!!
Firstly thanks for your rowing vids, I have found them very interesting and informative. I started indoor rowing some 20months ago as part of my rehab from a triple heart by-pass op - the rowing machine was something I always avoided when I was a gym bunny in my 40's far too much effort needed. But now it has become my best friend due to what you get out of it against the time and effort spent on it. I have progressed from 5 mins 1000mts and being shot to a 3k Mon - 4k Tues & a 5k Fri at a pace of 500mts / 2.30mins which I don't think is bad for an unfit 59yr old with a scarred left side heart in about 5-6months. I have just had my technique looked at today by the gym instructor who is NO rowing expert btw and my form is not bad but sounds like I do the almost vertical row - think I pivot maybe 11.55 to 12.55. I am going to try the feet out tmoz when I go for my 5k Friday ignoring my pace time but working on the technique for the duration and see if I can feel anything in my core - wish me luck lol, I am also using your lowering the foot position tip due too belly fat gut and the dip thing with the handle.
Your videos have been a huge help! I just started rowing today, and I’m excited to keep it going especially after seeing your videos on form, especially focusing on my core. Thank you!!
I’m definitely trying this. I have a rower at home. Thank you!
Thank you for info. I can't wait to try today in the gym. Never thought we can do rowing without strips...it's new and sounds effective info. Thanks 😁
Thank you for your videos. I rowed crew amateur-level on the Charles near Boston prepandemic. One of the best sports ever. Great workout, and can’t beat the camaraderie of teammates.
Thanks Shane, this helped a lot.
Gotta show more love w options of rowing... I work abs by turning handle vertical and pull on the side of my rib cage L & R sets of 20.. also sets of the 10 doing curls, lastly I lower tension & work shoulders sets of ten from starting chest level arms locked straight an d ending w arms straight ending near my forehead. Many dynamic options pep..
Thanks for the video! Love how rowing makes my core feel afterwards! enjoy this much more than the treadmill and actually see results :D
Good idea man
This was a helpful tip, never thought to try this
Looking forward to trying this and not falling off!
Thank you! I remember this drill.
Just getting back into fitness and used to love rowing back in the day.
As a key part of my regime with swimming, running and cycling.
An oldie now, I am going to set about my targets of a decade ago - weight, core strength and stamina.
Could do 2K in 6m 30 at my peak 25 years ago. First time for a long time, did 1K in 5m today and it hurt.
Just want to thank you for the inspiration.
Back to it for next 3 days and then a rest and repeat!
Loved the strap recommendation.. thanks
Interesting. I never had thought of that. Will try it.
Hope it works well for you, Robert!
I have just starting rowing ... this is a massive help Thank you so much massive massive help .. help me with my stomach and core 😘
You are so so welcome! I am glad this could help you out! Keep up the amazing work :)
Thanks for all of the rowing content. This will probably take my rowing workouts to the next level.
I started my rowing journey 20 days ago, and even though I was pretty heavy when I started, I am already starting to see my abs.(fasting + 1500 calories made up mostly of protein+fat as well).
I think I am currently losing approximately half a pound per day, or 3.5 pounds per week. Not only that, but I am clearly building muscles all over my body.(legs, arms, back, abs, and throwing in some pushups for good measure) My shoulders actually feel stiff from all of the new muscle that I am building.
Just tried this and my abs don't like you very much. I'm new to rowing and have learned so much from you. Thanks for all the great information.
Love these rowing tips videos!
I am glad you like them! :)
Daaaamn! I just got a rowing machine and I’m so thankful for your videos! So informative, so useful. Thank you!

Thank you for talking about key point for core activation! Great video.
Totally! Thanks for watching, Courtney!
Glad I found this channel! New rower here, and really want to get the most out of my time on it. Although I'm a shortie, so I will have to be careful not to shoot myself off of the seat thinking I can go as far back as you can lol. Thanks for the tip!
Haha yes don't shoot off of the seat! It is an experience that I wouldn't wish upon my greatest enemy ;) Thanks for the support!! Keep up the great work and let me know how things go :)
Awesome video im just starting out st the gym and was looking for a good tutorial on how to use the rower for core workouts. Helped heaps. Nice bod btw 😉
Glad this could help you out, Kerrie! And thanks for the compliment :)
Great video
Excellently info!!
Thank you, Jeff!
Rowing completely changed my body, helped correct pain all over my body, got me ripped and I am the most cardiovascularly fit I’ve ever been. I “race” on the rower to 200 calories which usually takes 15 minutes. Then I walk on an incline for another 200 calories, then I do some light supplemental lifting. It works the best for me.
covered the very problem I was having on the water yesterday love this
Thanks, Chris! Glad this worked for you!
Great video Thank you
I love rowing, always my go to exercise. 🙌🏼
It is GREAT exercise!
Wow, great tip! thanks
I tried rowing without strapping feet to the rower. Found it is a better work out for abs. Thanks for the tip
Right on! Glad you could apply the drill!
Great advice!!! Thank you!!
Thanks D S!
Just bought a rower. Your videos are helping me start out with the correct form. 😎
Awesome Idle King!! I have an eBook coming out in a few weeks that is a beginner's guide to rowing and fat loss! Be on the lookout for it! Thanks for your support!

Thank you this is very helpful today was my second day on the machine and I'm going to take the insights from your videos to better my technique I have a super under developed core and slight bend in my lower spine and I'm excited to incorporate this machine along with yoga to reach my ultimate goal of... Doing a cartwheel 😆. ✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽
I like your goal, Alonso! And I am glad this video could help you out! It is all about consistency and practice! You got this!!
Great - i will do this. thanks.

Thanks, friend!
Great tip. Thanks.
Happy to help!!
I do rowing and my coach made us do this and I had to be in the bow that day I almost fell out. The wind picked up when we were going back in and it became very wavy and we had to concentrate a lot which really helped.
Haha glad you didn't fall out! But yeah it really is a great drill!
I loved this video! Rowing has become my new favorite exercise at the gym and you seem to know your shit about it
Thanks, Kevin. I'm happy you enjoyed the vid. And I am happy to hear you've incorporated rowing into your fitness program! Let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to answer them!
