      I live in a hilly area. I weigh 17 stone. I am big and heavy. Not overweight. I just built a 1000w hub motor bike. It copes well on most hills but it does not like the steep stuff with so much weight on it. I built my wife the same kit on her bike, she gets twice the range a higher top speed and better acceleration and never has any problems on hills.. She weighs around 7.5 stone. Literally I will have to run two batteries as a solution I think.

    It’s pretty common for 750W motors to list a 80Nm output… but that’s just the MOTOR’s nominal rating. Actual on road performance depends on the controller (18, 25, or 35amp), the battery (36, 48, or 52V), and potentially regional restrictions placed on the program settings.

    • @jjm380t8
      @jjm380t8 Před 11 dny

      apparently the 500w motor sitting in my corner waiting to be installed is 80nm nominal, gotta wonder what the peak would be (whatever it scales at 750w peaks, controller allowing.)

    The ever increasing motor wattage is worrying. Seems only a matter of time before the Police start properly enforcing the law. I see ebikes going ridiculously fast, not long before the media jump on this and gives us problems

    • @e-VRC
      @e-VRC  Před rokem +11

      I know what you mean. Before getting the engine pro I never really exceeded the speed of a semi pro cyclist but now 1000 pushes past that speed pretty easily and of course some people are riding around on 5000w plus bikes that are basically electric motorbikes weaving in and out of traffic.

    • @Free__Speech
      @Free__Speech Před rokem +6

      250w is more dangerous as u are slower & more likely to catch fire on a hill. 250w is useless anyway as most people can output more than 250w

    • @uncrunch398
      @uncrunch398 Před rokem +6

      Aside from trying the worst hill in my area, my 350w gets me up to 20mph quick enough. I haven't been near that hill since I got it. Not sure I will unless I'm just curious. I won't be pushing for more until I'm properly protected from falling off. There are ditch drains around here that look like a person could be washed down after easily knocked into the ditch by traffic or a sudden gust. Or hit the cement just right to end them even if they don't go in.

    • @beentheredonethat5908
      @beentheredonethat5908 Před rokem +1

      Those people will have to deal with their own consequences. Most people can't break 15 miles an hour and the level of bike is easiest enough to find out.
      People who drive electric motor cycles are supposed to have the bikes registered and insured. So let them deal with their own problems.

      To be honest there is so much illegal ebikes around the world that noone can fix it at that point. I think they should make every ebike street legal, because they are just weak scooters. But faster ones shouldnt be allowed to speed on bike paths.

    This video should be essential viewing for old and unfit people who think that an ebike will do most of the work for them. You also were not riding into a wind, carrying shopping on paniers etc.
    If the UK government seriously wants people out of their cars and onto bikes they will have to permit 1000w motors, they can't just expect people to buy high end mid drive bikes of many thousands.

  • @Trillville43
    @Trillville43 Před rokem +5

    1. The first two were pointless especially having a 36v setup.
    2. You compared two bikes with a 750 motor because the rating is based on nominal, not peak which seems to only be disclosed on the engine pro. That display will show you the current in amps so it's easy to figure out what the peak is on the other Engine bike as 48 x Amps = peak output.
    3. Torque is meaningless because it can get geared for higher speed or greater pulling power so all these numbers are mostly marketing especially on ebikes sub $1800 USD to get business for a entry level ebike.
    4. I have two 750w ebikes and one peaks at roughly 1200w while the other 1335w.

    • @e-VRC
      @e-VRC  Před rokem +8

      I'm not sure 36v means it's pointless since as you said in point 2 voltsx amps = watts and I'm only talking about watts. Also I think the test is interesting since it will compare manufacturer claims. The eskute is advertised as 250 but seems to peak at 500. The ado and ep-2 pro do not have an advertised peak which leads some to believe the ado also peaks at 500 so should be labelled less with the ep-2 possibly peaking at 750. The ep-2 pro and engine pro are both labelled as 750 but the Engine is a much faster bike and now Engwe have started writing '1000w peak' on their page. I'm hoping to test a lot more vehicles on the same hill so will be a good comparison of performance based on manufacturer claims.
