Simon is the best character because Robert Sheehan is the best actor in this whole damn film. Honestly they should have written the film from his perspective.
Robert Sheehan is the best actor in basically everything he's in.
Simon is also the best character in the book, along with Isabelle? (I don’t remember if that’s her name or not) and her brother whose name I forget. They were the only three that actually felt like real people
I knew I'd seen him before but couldn't remember where. Turns out I knew him from TWO favorites and just never connected Misfits and Umbrella Academy
@@brettdallman3885 commpleteley agree Simon and Izzy are the best characters and couple in the shadowhunter chronicles period, I still don't forgive the author for adding more on them in the dark arifices and not giving them their well deserved wedding
not just that, he doesn't need to act like a queasy posh englishman like the demon hunter love intrest.
"I don't remember anything she'd want me to forget" Was this line actually written or was it an improve they kept in there because of stupidity?
bradwolf07 probably both
bradwolf07 that line still makes me confused
@@gracekim25 same here
Nah that's not in the book. . .it is a REALLY stupid line, though
Lol when I heard it I thought ‘wasn’t that the point?’ XD
I find it funny and disturbing that Lena Headey is Clary's mom, in a series with an incest plot thread. She just can't escape it.
For a second I was hoping this would be a comparison with Shadowhunters, but now I have an excuse to rewatch an old episode instead. Still fun.
If you have a bad editor, you get 50 Shades and Twilight.
Thinking they had editors is giving them too much credit.
+TheDanishGuyReviews good point
There is no editor.
I guess the Twilight thing was certainly predictable with a YA novel.
Oh, “Fifty shades of gray” had an editor - all of the poor woman’s suggestions were ignored and then she was told to pretty much cater to all of the author’s demands. Because E.L. James clearly cannot stand criticism.
"she might be a Mary Sue".
That was a laugh straight from the gut, thank you.
I always thought this was one of your better reviews and was sad to see it get taken down. I am a fan of the Mortal Instruments series and it’s many sequels, prequels and spinoffs. Even so, I can see the major flaws in it (the entire incest subplot was completely unnecessary) but still enjoy the series for what it is. Also, Magnus Bane is a really cool character and I’m mad that this movie made him boring
the incest subplot was badly executed. but I thought playing on that self hatred and disgust in two such young characters, even though it turns up to be totally false, was a good idea. I don't know if siblingary was the best option. maybe she could have written something further from reality, like twins blood that would react and hurt them but then they find out that its just because the clave don't want shadowhunters to pair off and be happy. it would have worked well if they did a parabatai thing. sorry, I've thought about this too much. 😂
@@insolencestar i've read the series a looooooong time ago so maybe me memories of the series aren't as sharp as they ought to be, but honestly, the first incest subplot was ... interesting. personally, i've never read a book prior to that that brought up such theme, and iirc i thought the way the characters handled it was pretty humane. i.e., their reactions were understandable and the denial (esp on jace's part) made sense due to the confusion they felt between how they feel toward each other versus how they _should_ have felt toward each other. that being said, the second incest subplot was just completely unnecessary and thoroughly yikey.
@@mophead_xu yeah, totally
I feel like it was brave and interesting and she handled it as delicately and maturely as she could in a YA novel from like 07..
idk, it was definitely thrilling
@@insolencestar
Yeah, what the heck were they thinking?
I mean were they even thinking?
Were they see the Luke and Leila insect thing?
What the heck is wrong with the world?
You're so right with the siblings thing, I haven't read the book but following common sense, that is not something that its reveal in the first movie of a series, maybe this was the nail on the coffin for this series.
It was obvious the 2 were not siblings - the film had to do it because it is for young adults who glorify incest. plus it is a PG 13 film and should not be compared to 18+ Game of Thrones
@@deusexmachina9776 No...that was in the book. It was the twist at the end. In another book they find out Valentine was lying, but that wasn't discovered at the moment.
@@taylorwiseman8078 in the first book it was revealed the two were not siblings?
@@deusexmachina9776 I thought it was the second? At the end of the first one, after Clary finds Jace with Valentine, he tells her that Valentine told him they were really father and son. I thought it wasn't until a good way into the second book that they realize he was wrong/lying.
@@taylorwiseman8078 i read those bokks 8+ years ago - but i could tell he was lying in the first. YA novels are messed up, CC is one of the worst offenders with her abuse/incest/violent relationships
Makes sense little Cassie Clair couldn't handle a negative opinion of her plagiarism
To be fair, they undo that later on.

I always found it annoying that they made Alec too confident. He's meant to be SUPER insecure.
I remember watching this in the movie theater. Everyone laughed during the whole movie. The more " intense" the scene was, the more we laughed. It was amazing. Such feeling of unity and brotherhood. So thank you movie for this moments of feeling like part of something biger than myself.
You know, on audible, I have seen multiple books where the main guy has multiple love interests, basically being in a polyamory relationship with all of them and the writer sticks with it. Sure, it's just for erotica's sake, but you know what? I think it would be best for all future writers of novels where the female lead has multiple love interests if they took the advice of ProZD. And if you don't know what I mean, look up ProZD anime love triangles.
Now, why am I suggesting this? Because I am sick of Fake Love Triangles in stories. What I mean by this is that whenever writers like the creator of Mortal Instruments do stuff like this where the Main Girl has multiple love interests, we know who it's going to be. Why tease us with Simon, we know it's going to be Jace she ends up with. Fake love triangles create false drama and pad the story out. There are plenty of anime that are guilty of this and the best ones, in my opinion, are the ones that pick a love interest and STICK WITH IT. Don't bs us around, writers. Either have one love interest, two that are equally valid and have an equal chance, or just have the main girl go "Why don't we all just move in together?" Screw monogamy if it ends the headaches of fake love triangles.
Well, you'll like this series then. The steampunk prequels to the city of bones do exactly that. Main char falls in love and ends up with both boys of interest and lives with them until the end of their lives while managing not being an actual threesome. Personally, I found it a fanbase pandaring cop-out but then I suspect I'm not really the target audience either.
As someone who is actually a fan of the books it pissed me off that they already put in the big reveal that Clary and Jace are not really siblings in the first movie. The big reveal as you pointed out doesn’t happen until the third book when it is revealed that Clary’s actual brother was working alongside Valentine find the Mortal Instruments and that Jace was actually taken from his dead mother after he was born and raised both his real son and Jace separately so he convince them to be loyal to his cause. Knowing that Jace is not really related to Clary too soon takes away from a lot of the conflict of the fact that they still had feelings for each other even though they still think that they are siblings for the audience. Also Simon is definitely the best character in the series, he is genuinely likable, has some of the best lines in the series, and he actually goes through a lot of things that give him a pretty interesting character arc. In fact I start to wonder if the last three books start to throw in a lot more story for Simon, Alec, and Isabelle because the author realized that people found these characters a lot more interesting than Clary and Jace. I also think that the prequel series The Infernal Devices which is a steampunk fantasy series set in Victorian England was the more interesting series, I definitely think it is the best series that she wrote. I also think that her current series The Dark Artifices which takes place about five years later and is about characters introduced in the last book in The Mortal Instruments series is a more interesting series too. With that said I still enjoy The Mortal Instruments and find that both attempts at adapting the story have failed miserably. The movie was not good, but at least they tried to stay as close to the source material as they could, the TV series made some very baffling and drastic changes that didn’t make any sense. Also having Clary’s mom be found at the Institute was very stupid especially since in the book the final confrontation of the first book took place in Valentine’s hideout where it would actually make sense to find Clary’s mother. Well at least her mother was played by Lena Heady and if he was made more like the book version Jonathan Rhys Meyers could have pulled off a pretty menacing Valentine, his work in things like The Tudors have shown that he is actually quite talented, but I chalk that up to him being given bad direction that I don’t think that any actor could pull off. They also made Jace seem bland and angsty, he is not one of my absolutely favorite characters, but at least in the books he seemed to have more personality and he is supposed to come off as more snarky and sarcastic which makes Clary’s assertion that he never seems to let things get to him make more sense in the books.
Morgan Young I agree with you 100%. Some of the characters in the books are more interesting than Jace and Clary. I mostly find Mangus Bane more interesting than Clary. But the one thing that I hate the most is that in both film and Tv show adaptations is that they make Clary the damsel in distress, and how they make things so overdramatic. They kill off characters tag are still alive (Jocelyn Fairchild) and stretches out the plot. I somewhat like the movie and show but I'll stick to the books.
Morgan Young I agree entirely, the movies and show did such a terrible job that I just really hope there isn’t even an adaptation attempt in the future, I adore the books(the dark artifices and TFTSA being my current favourites) but I totally agree about the TMI part, I feel as though the first 6 were setting up a lot of the characters that were going to get their own main entries later but where mainly meant to focus on Clary and Jace, however when Cassie realised just how popular the others were(Magnus, Alec And Simon especially) she did show off a lot more of their characters, which I appreciate and it sets up their later books nicely.
Dude, you have one vindictive cat.
Can you do 'The Host', please? I would really like to hear your reaction to it. It stands alone and is not terribly long.
I asked Krimson about that, and he's not even ready to dive into another Stephanie Meyer book.

Using 'Mundane' is perfect in many ways. It's meant to be forgettable, the entire mundane world is meant to be boring because the Shadow Hunters are detached from it and don't actually care about it. Their entire focus is the war against the demons, regular people are ignorant to it and therefore have become literally unimportant. That's why Clary is supposed to be so important, as she provides the bridge between the Shadow Hunters and the human world. She may fail in that regards, but it gives Simon the opportunity to became a much more important bridge between the Mundanes, Underworlders and the Shadow Hunters later on.
In regards to not using a specialised term like 'Muggle', I'm happy they didn't make up too much of their own terminology when there are words that describe the same thing. 'Muggle' became iconic but when Fantastic Beasts introduced 'No Mag' (and had to slow the film down to explain it) it detracted from the story - nothing about it added to the plot. And it easily goes too far, especially with Young Adult books (and their subsequent film adaptations that don't have time to explain what the phrases mean). Look at the Jabberjay Mutts in Catching Fire, without the knowledge from the books about the genetic mutations performed by the Capital it just sounds weird that they're called Mutts as there's no context. The Hunger Games film didn't even introduce the concept like the book did. The Mockingjays just happen to copy songs; the Tracker Jackers are described as genetically engineered (but not as Mutts); and the dogs at the end are implied to be holographic creations of some sort (why would Crane ask to check the design moments before they're used instead of just asking if the dogs were ready to be released?). The Push film went overboard, renaming pretty much all of the psychic gifts (which were fairly standard powers) so that the film started to get hard to follow as you're having to constantly translate what people are talking about. I think it's the films biggest weakness.
In the books there's world building, and there's desperate attempts to stand out. In the following films they often struggle to effectively explain the jargon, and rely far too much on the fact that you've read the book(s) first and can back fill the gaps.
Black Duskull I totally agree!! well said :)
Well said, I was about to write about the mundane part myself, but you got everything spot on, ShadowHunters are so dismissive of the mundanes that calling them such is so fitting, to think of something as “mundane” is to believe it to be so boring or regular that it doesn’t even bare mentioning. They’re there, they’re in the way most of the time and 90% of ShadowHunters avoid even being seen by them as much as possible, it isn’t like in HP where there are even “muggle born” wizards, the worlds are very mixed so seeing humans as something different to you but still equal enough to warrant having their own name to distinguish them is a key part of that world. Where as in the shadow world, mundanes dont even bare mentioning, which is ironic considering their mandate...
I think every ShadowHunters fan on the planet agrees that this film was abysmal, and I really hope they never even attempt another one. Although I would love to see the world I’ve come to adore so much on the big screen, I just don’t think it’s a world that could be captured very well, at least not without a huge budget, and the numerous attempts(movies and Netflix show) just fall so short it’s painful to watch
This is an old post, but the term Mundane was stolen from Babylon 5. It's what telepaths called humans born without psychic ability.
Idk, I feel like calling them humans would have been fine. I mean, if they care so little, why give it a specific name at all?
@@Lynn-ee9hq It mostly because in the books, Shadowhunters still had some interactions with the mundane world, be as minimal as it is. The very reason that Shadowhunters even exist as a race and profession is to protect the world, more so the human world, from the threat of demons. So even if they don't interact directly with mundanes as part of day-today life, they still can't brush off completely their existence.
There is also the factor that in some small cases Shadowhunters do interact with mundanes, whether it's because they got attacked by demons, the mundanes have the sight that allows them to see the true "magical world" around them (or the truth was relieved to the mundanes by some sort of accident, and the shadowhunters can't hide it from them anymore), or in a very rare cases, shadowhuners form close personal connection with regular humans (usually love connections), and want to either bring the mundane into their world as a new shadowhunter or defect from the order and live among mundanes as regular humans. And yes, there are even some half- nephilim half- mundane shadowhunters, who were born as a result of one shadowhunter falling in love and marrying to a mundane person.
So it's not like shadowhunters have zero interactions with mundanes, it's more that they voluntarily don't interact with mundanes and stay away from them. so by doing that they can keep the secret "magical world" a secret. Shadowhunters do very much care for mundanes, they just choose to not have any contacts with them.
Mundane...yeah, I completely forgot about it. So point to younger Krimson
Wasn't there some controversy about Cassandra Clare and plagiarism?
Vulpine Deity the charges were dropped, tons of her claims happened in Cassie’s books first, and the claims she made were ridiculous (saying things such as bisexuality, father figures, and flannel were all plagiarism)
Oh, how ludicrous. Thanks for telling me.
Yeah in her Draco Trilogy fanfics. And it was definitely really bad plagiarism and blatant stealing of ideas that she tried to hide

My personal definition of a mary sue is a character who's setting will bend itself around *them* instead of them existing in the world, making them infallible simply because they can do no wrong because the plot won't let them
tldr: a situation where the plot serves the character instead of the character being a part of the plot

Read the book series and was disappoint. The love triangle and the whole 'is he my brother or not' had me rolling my eyes. Can we not get a book series or book where the female hero has no love interest and if does she puts it aside and focus on saving the world!
Yes, thank you!
There was really nothing wrong with it imo. Even if it is stereotypical it was still handled surprisingly well, for the most part, and is realistic seeing as she is still a teenager. As a teenager myself it's very realistic and speaks to the mindset that many people in the teenage age range would have.
Yeah, it would be nice to have a book series where either the male and/or female hero had no love interest and put aside to it while trying to save the world.
It would've been about an coming-of-age story focusing on someone who discover he or she might entirely asexual and had to overcoming both the challenges and hardships of being an asexual person.

I like to compare checking for a mary sue to checking for a mental disorder. there are several telltale behaviors to check for, such as rarely being challenged and learning skills with little to no training. It's doubtful you'll check off every one and checking off one or two is fine, possibly even expected, but if your checking off more than half you should probably get a professionals opinion.
As someone who was a fan of the Mortal Instruments book series in my early teenage years (11-14yrs old), I must say I hated this film with a passion. I had a feeling it was going to fail the moment they announced the cast. Most of the characters in the books are young adults, yet the entire cast looks to be well into their 30s. Then there is the fact that, with the exception of Magnus Bane, none of the actors looked even close to the overall description of their book counterparts. I swear the casting director and production team didn't even try. I mean, just look at Clary and her mom whose fiery red hair is one of their most recognisable physical attributes in the books... were hair dye and wigs not a thing in 2013?! The film industry has to understand that when adapting from literature, there is an entire preexisting fanbase expecting that movie to give life to some of their favourite characters. Still I gave City if Bones a chance, and oh did I regret that decision. The script was TERRIBLE, the acting was cringy, the special effects were laughable, and there was no real attempt to stay faithful to the original story. I am well aware that transforming a book into a script is a complex process that takes a lot of editing, but is it that hard to keep to the bloody storyline? My little teenage heart was absolutely shattered. All I wanted was to see my then-favourite series materialised on the big screen, yet this sad excuse of a movie is what I got. I am glad they never made it past the first book.
Would you also be willing to review the show?:)
Enough people seem interested in it, so I guess I'll have to. XD

SPOILERS
I agree that the movie was disappointing. The books were not perfect, but they had some great points. It has been nearly a decade since I read the original trilogy, so I hope nostalgia doesn't screw my recollection too much.
I liked Valentine as a villain. He reminded me of Tom Riddle. One of the few things I did not find perfect about Harry Potter was Lord Voldemort.
He could not formulate a cunning plan to save his life and only seemed to rule through fear. The diary Horcrux was much more interesting. Except for Crouch Junior that Horcrux was the only 'villain' that at least had something resembling a plan. If it were not for the miraculous appearance of Fawkes, it might have even worked. The diary and locket seemed much more threatening than Voldemort himself. Where was the intelligent, charismatic, manipulative villain that was promised? I think his soul pieces took his brain with them.
So I really enjoyed Valentine as a villain. The things he did to his best friend, his parents-in-law and his damn children were chilling. The short-story in which he put silver coins on a werewolf child's eyes was nauseating. Especially since the parents and descendents of the heroes were just watching and doing nothing. Most stories don't do that. They want their heroes to have perfectly virtuous families... or no family at all.
The fairies were well done, too, actually resembling the fairies in folk lore, for once. Most of the really non-human characters did not act human.
To be honest, I found the world itself to be quite interesting. The 'mundane' thing was not the most intelligent decision, but biblical stories and myths were brought into it quite well. This somewhat reminds me of the Percy Jackson books.
The aspect of sacrifice was appealing, too. The Silent Brothers having to more or less give up sight and speech and life for knowledge. The Mortal Cup, that may turn you into a badass mystical warrior, but might just as well transform you into a mindless atrocity...
The characters were not totally flat either, most of them were flashed out and their decisions made sense. There was background information that explained who they are and why they act the way they do. Like Isabelle finding about her father's infidelity when she was little, but bring told not to tell and protect her siblings from the truth, explains why she acts the way she does to distract from her brother's sexuality and her reaction to Max' death. The falcon-story explains aspects of Jace's behaviour.
Clary was a Mary Sue, though not a disgustingly irritating one. Definitely not the worst one I had the displeasure to encounter.
Most of the other characters had quite well thought out strengths and faults. Some of them were quite close to bring annoying from time to time, but didn't cross irrevocably over.

As to Jace and Clary, I read the books. Okay, they weren't a couple, explicitly. It was a book of "will they, won't they?" Except everyone thought they were related. Ew.
Cassandra Clare had a lot of issues with plagiarism and I believe this series was based off of... Two of her Harry Potter fanfics? One of Ginny (fiery red head) and Draco (pale asshole blond with an abusive father) and another about a romance between Ginny and Ron. There's a lot of controversy surrounding her and it honestly feels like she's really milking the series. Should've ended it with City of Glass before she started recycling plots.
Also, while Nephilim are cool they're hardly unique to her, they're in dozens of other books, art and stories and have roots back in the Bible.
Enjoyed the review even if I didn't wholly agree with you on the points about Clare and the books. Had honestly completely forgotten some points like Clary's mother in the basement. The only criticism is that you didn't really talk about what was changed and added character wise or, really, much about most of the characters.

Hey Krimson, I'm trying to start writing, but, among other things, I have no knowledge of fighting and hence no idea how to write a fight scene. Is there any advice you could offer me?
Aside from practice by writing fanfiction (and seeking constructive criticism), I'd say research is your best friend. Find a fighting style for your characters, learn at least the basics of how it works, then think about how it can be applied in a certain area when a fight occurs.
For example, how would someone using a polearm fight on a pirate ship? How could you make a laser cannon effective against an oncoming attack wave in a cave? How could a swordsman beat a soldier with a rifle in the jungle? Give yourself mental exercises and let your mind wander for a bit.

I don't even know why I kept reading this series. I hated Jace, Clary was the author's self-insert, etc. like why did I keep reading? Was it because my friends loved the books and I wanted to feel included? Was it because I was a dumbass who thought it'd get better? All of the above I guess.
RIP Godfrey Gao
To be honest i did forget about the mindane thing and to be fair Fables also used mundane for non magic folk but at least they shortened it to mundy so sounded differnt lol
maybe the downstairs neighbor demon kept the piano around for protection, like how ppl keep guns, rather have one and not need it then need it and not have it
I still think the Percy Jackson films are the worst book to movie adaptions ever.
Hahahah!!! The movie was so bad! Please, I'm begging you to do the show!! Please!!! (seriously, it's being canceled and the last season is coming out next year, it's be great publicity to just jump on the bandwagon)
OMG! I just realized even Jace (Jamie) is staring at her weird and judgmental!! "I don't remember anything she'd want me to forget" - bad lines that /weren't/ in the book
I forgot how absolutely stupid this movie was!!
OMG THE DAMN PORTAL THING!!!
You're not the only one who thought Robert Sheean (Simon) was the only good thing in this movie
uhg the movie was so bad, at least the book could stand on it's own (cattery to teenage girls or not)
Hey have you read the other books? You kind of imply it but I'm not sure if you didn't just wiki the plot to the rest of them (and if you read those, are you still reading them? Did you read The Infernal Devices?)
Oh yeah, the ruining of the plot was so bad
Clary was slightly less Mary Sue-y in the books (the books also explain why she's so good), also she's kind of annoying which is more character than bland (at least 'cough cough Bella Swan')
At least you get to drink this bullshit away
Seriously though, the tv show (wait till you get to the tv show)
Sara Sleightholm Wait Its canceled but it gets another season tf?
It's really weird and kind of confusing. Basically they had already filmed the next season and were probably going to be green light to film the finale (so the fourth season had just finished, the fifth season was already filmed and in like editing) but Netflix, which is actually where the show was making profit through international viewing, for some reason decided not to renew it's contract with Freeform to continue showing the show, so without enough income to willingly continue for the final season, Freeform decided to release the already filmed fifth season and then allow for a two part finle to the whole show (I'm not sure how that works, what they're doing, or anything. All I know is that they moved the airing of the whole thing to next year).
Sara Sleightholm That really is weird
yeah
I love the series. It's so horrible. ♡
Yay! I've been wanting to rewatch this one for some time. Thanks for reuploading it :D
Look, I love your content, but what’s your beef with Pink Panther 2? I loved that film.
love your reviews and analyzing style. I'd like to recommend a comparison between Gail Carson Levine's Ella Enchanted and its film "adaptation". The film thinks it got the plot but so much of it was watered down that it becomes a Disney Channel original movie ( also Vivica A. Fox as the fairy Lucinda, R&H's Cinderella with Brandy this is not).
I remember Mundanes because in the Xanth series people from Earth were called something similar. She could have 'borrowed' that like how she would 'borrow' quotes from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Glad to see this review back up. I love this review of yours.
Fun fact: the book is a Harry Potter fanfiction that ships Ginny with Draco
Fuck, are you serious? My hatred for this series has just been increased a thousand-fold. But thank you for reminding me of why I loathe it so deeply.
So Simon is Harry Clair is Ginny and Jace is Draco. WHAT!??........WHAT THE FUCK!?
@@thewlf-man4191 claire's Ginny actually
It is one of the worst fanfics I've ever read in my life-nobody is remotely recognizable from the books, and the new plot elements and characters are just dreadful. And then I found out she wrote one about Ron and Ginny being together. She is just awful.
Love your review Krimson.
I once watched a review of this movie then of the pilot to the tv show and i actually started laughing at the disparity of acting quality from Lily Collins to the chick from the tv show. Lily collins is such a better actress its hilarious.
Movie is still crap though
Lily is definitely better than Kat, but you can't entirely blame her because Kat is just the actress, she has no control over her lines.
To the movies credit Madame Dorothea was not possessed until Jace and Clary visited the second time so she did not put the piano in the house. It was already there. The demon even told Jace that the piano was out of tune to try to get him to stop. That is what made him certain that she was possessed. So he continued playing Bach who, according to the movie (not sure about in the books since I have not read them in years), was a Shadowhunter who discovered that certain sounds caused demons pain and made it easy to weed them out from "Mundanes."
I didn't know what I was stumbling into when I started watching this review but after a few minutes I realized that I had watched the "Shadowhunters" TV series a few years ago, so somehow I'm familiar with this story already XD
Consider checking that adaptation out as well, I think the cast was definitely better even if some of the plot elements were predictable and the story strung you along with each passing episode.
The actor who plays Jace is who I always picture when reading the book, even though the movie was trash. Fun fact, the actor was in the twilight movies too
I’m glad you reuploaded since I’m a brand new viewer and have only seen like one of your other videos lmao
Well, this was fun. The book had its issues but was definitely better. There were aspects of the movie I enjoyed. But no question there were plenty of problems. I read four out of the six books in the original series and clearly, this director didn't care. Why adapt a book if you're not even going to try and follow the source material? There is even a series on Freeform now. I would love to see you discuss that adaptation.
You know it's bad when you don't even remember if you've seen the movie or not XD
On the note of "stop making stalker protagonists", I'll add "stop trying to make incels sympathetic".
There's nothing more pathetic and self-serving than wait until a girl is in a relationship with someone else, and then confess to her (I say girl because that's the standard incel target). If you're too much of a coward to tell someone how you feel, then you don't deserve to be with them.
i question his "STOP MAKING STALKERS PROTAGONIST" since i wonder if Steven Universe was a bad protagonist cause he stalkes Connie (Steven Universe), Marco Diaz for staling his crush Sam, (Star vs the Forces of Evil) and Usui for stalking Misaki (Maid Sama) like are they bad protagonist ?
@@WhiteDarkness3113 Yes
@@NeroCM wait really, you think the characters i just say are really bad protagonist for stalking their crushes ?
@@WhiteDarkness3113 yes. Absolutely. 100%
@@NeroCM oh, yeah im just gonna go....... thanks for awnser my question ?
Hey there Krim, you are a really good reviewer and you deserve a lot more subscribers :)
Also, the idea for the book series seemed interesting with a war of angels and demons, but I’ve never read the books so I don’t know if they are good or not
Hi! i just discovered your channel and have watched a coupe of your "the book was better" reviews. I think it's safe to say you now have a new fan; your reviews are hilarious!
The Mortal Instruments is my all time favorite book series, so logically: i loathed the movie with every fiber of my being :). I like how you mentioned breaking points, and this was mine: Not the choice of actors (which i hated), the writing ("I dont remember anything she'd want me to forget!") or the lame action sequences. It was the scene when Jace and Clary are being chased by the wolf pack. it happens so quickly and is not a huge plot point, but in the book it was a VITAL part of Clary's character development. It follows:
1.Clary & Jace are BACKED INTO A CORNER
2. Werewolf: CHARGES TOWARD CLARY & JACE
3. Jace: fumbling to unlock door.
4. Clary: with a rush of clarity and adrenaline, is snapped into her warrior/fight or flight/whatever you want to call it instincts and throws her daggar at the CHARGING WEREWOLF.
The Movie: C&J on their way OUT THE DOOR
werewolf: DOESNT MOVE
Clary: Says "waitI" ....AND THEY STOP SO SHE CAN THROW HER KNIFE AT A WOLF WHO IS STANDING COMPLETELY STILL
This was very important in the book because even more than seeng magic and vampires and werewolves, Clary starts to realize that maybe she is strong, a warrior descended from angels, and not just a damsel in distress.
Aaaand of course the movie craps all over this by just giving her a power no one has ever seen before with little to no eplanation. :)
Allow me to translate Leia's cat speak for you: "'Come on Krimson, stop procrastinating and just GET IT DONE. I'm locking you in here until you get this over with. It's for your own good, the sooner you finish this, the better off we'll all be."
Would you do a review for the film adaptation of Beautiful Creatures?
Spoiler !!!

They aren't brother and sister at the end !!!
Honestly, I threw the book down as soon as *SPOILERS* they were revealed to be siblings at the end. I know that they were later revealed to not really be siblings, but that's no excuse. The author continues to ship them for an entire book while they and the audience are under the impression that the ship is incestuous, before revealing that it isn't. That's gross!
Despite having that sour taste in my mouth, Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace is really hot.
Valentine in this movie pissed me off. In the book, Valentine is one of the most evil villains that has been created. I wont go into spoiler territory, but some of the things he did made readers scream "What the fuck?!" Out loud. Not only that, he was cunning, calculating, but smooth. He spoke in a very intelligent and old fashioned way, and he was a master at manipulation. This valentine? The worst villain ever.
"Muggle" is such a British word. Like bumpkin, or plonker. It was a stroke of genius, it's not fair trying to compare other words to it.
You could say calling them Mundanes is...mundane.
Wait a minute... holy crap is that Nathan Young from The Misfits (UK)? *quick IMDb search* Yeaaaaayup. Actor's name is Robert Sheehan. Weird to see him playing a mild-mannered character after witnessing him playing such an asshole.
The Mortal Instrument Series has a very special place in my heart. It was the pallet cleanser for the first time I read the series that shall not be named but starts with a T and ends in abuse.
I didn't enjoy the book either. The main character bored me (she was pretty selfish), the best person in the book was Simon, the friend. I wish she made Simon the main character. He's awkward and likeable rather than the main character. Plus Sheehan is so enjoyable to watch :3 The rest of these actors suck.
