Elton was lucky to have him and the rest of the band.
Thank you Tom! Very interesting for all Davey's fans. You really know your stuff ;-)
Nice interview. Spot on letting Davey tell these cool, musically valuable stories .
I've been a guitarist since 1974. I started listening to Elton John albums since the early 70s and Davey has been in inspiration.
Elton has one of the best backing bands ever - starts with incredible arrangements. 1969-1978 what a streak! Unparalleled.
Great job Tom; Davey’s a great talent & and class act.
One of the best on both acoustic and electric guitar--and backing vocals. Such a great addition to the core band of Nigel and Dee.
Absolutely love this Guys work.
Love this… ❤ Davey is lovely.
I love the Elton John Band and Davey's wonderful guitar. I also love the Grateful Dead (speaking of John Mayer) and would love to hear Davey play some Garcia/Hunter or Weir /Barlow songs in his own way. (Great Interview!)
Great interview, as always, Tom. Yeah, CAPTAIN FANTASTIC AND THE BROWN DIRT COWBOY sounds brilliant. Producer Gus Dudgeon, Elton, Bernie, Dee, Nigel, Davey, and Ray were hitting on all cylinders on that album. That album and BLUE MOVES remain my favourite Elton albums. Thank you Davey for all of your contributions to Elton's work in studio and live. Lots of incredible achievements and moments on stage and famous gigs.
Agree - I also loved The One
Great interview again with Davey. Amazing how many times I have seen him out and about here in London as he usually stays at a hotel near where I live.
❤😍😻 Loved 🤩 this interview and interview on my🎈🎂🎆💐 birthday 🥳 eve 🎉😀 two years ago 🎊🎈 on sxm 📻 Radio Beatles channel Fab Fourum. 🍀 ❤️💝🌹🕯️💖💙🙏🤲 Davey is so talented and seems like a good, 😊👍 true gentleman. EJ's band never presented with much drama; the only self-professed diva was Elton John, himself. Everyone else lacked controversy, from what I observed, over the decades. Tysm Davey for being a huge 🧩 part of my Absolute Best music 🎼🎶 🎧 📝 memories; Elton John band music of the seventies Is The Soundtrack of my lifetime. I love your background vocals 🔙 on the Goodbye Yellow Brick🧱 🛣️ Road album. I love harmonizing with you, Nigel and Dee ( Let 🕯️🕊️🤍🌹❤️🙏💙💖💝💐🎈💌 light perpetual shine upon Dee).❤ PS: You look healthier and well-rested since your retirement from touring with the Elton John band.✨🕯️🕊️🤍💛
Thanks Tom for this wonderful interview .
Brilliant interview, thank you very much!
GREAT interview guys.
I have also felt Captain Fantastic was their finest album. The songs, the musicianship, the vocals, the sound quality & production, the arrangements. There was not a weak moment on that record. And then, they recorded in those same sessions a couple of number one singles: Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds & Philadelphia Freedom. The EJ team was on fire.
Excellent interview Tom. Was there any mention off camera about the documentary Davey is apparently putting together about the band/Dee Murray? Also read/heard somewhere that he is going to write an autobiography.
Fui a um show em 2014 Fortaleza Brasil, fiquei próximo ao davy
❤Davey❤
Why is Elton not talking anymore to Caleb Quaye? He should have been part of one of the last concerts in my opinion.
69 thru 1976 were the best years
Smiling Face and China are both great Davey Johnstone albums from the 70's. Unfortunately, that style of music is no longer of interest...
44:35 I've heard this thought before 🤣I don't remember who said that. The thing is that in the 80s and 90s Elton John was not interesting to me at all, and what he was doing in the 70s, I did not know. Because his music was so bad that I didn't care what he was doing before. That's why I never bought his 70s album. I have bought a thousand nonsense, but not Elton John. You think that everyone knows everything. So stop fooling yourself and Elton and sell your 70s live concert videos in good quality 🤧sorry, I wanted to write good things, but at that point, I got mad🤣 Great interview👍
