I was recently surprised to learn that LEGO is the world's biggest manufacturer of wheels. Like, by a LONG way. It's not even close.
I always heard it as tire manufacturer when counting numbers of tires.
If you look carefully on a Lego tire, you'll see its size on the sidewall, just like a vehicle tire.
This is the kind of conversation I could imagine having with my buddies at 3am when we're all blitzed out of our minds.
"But you can't make a door into a wheel"
Bruh forgot that carriages with wooden wheels was the norm for centuries
He even forgot his own point a second before "Bilbo Baggins' house"
If you took a wheel door off the wall and onto a car would it be a door on a car or a wheel...?
@@K0STKY Yes
2-door cars have 5 doors : Two for people, one to access the engine, one to access the trunk and one to access the gas cap.
hot wheels have 0 doors and still have wheels
and the glove compartment. The console between seats may have a 'door'. the CD player (old car) has a 'flap' (door), part of the back seat folds down making an opening into the trunk (its on hinges and flips back and forth, so 'door') , the windshield washer fluid access point has a flip cap (door). If gas cap counts, then the 'adding motor oil' screw top is a 'door'. The radiator has a screw cap as well.
Is a gear a wheel?
@@unvoicedapollo3318Even if not every wheel on every belt in the engine, fly wheels. There are far far more wheels in the world than doors. Most of modern world is based on the wheel,
Don't think I can characterize a hood as a door but who knows.
When he said a wheel can be a door, my mind went to revolving doors. I was not along for the ride to Hobbit houses.
Catheter jokes are a risk, someone might think you're taking the piss out of them.
That was funny! 😅✌️
By Brett's logic, a door can be a wheel since Baggins's door is round..
Most wheels are far too small to be doors for humans, so turning a door into a wheel is much easier than the other way around.
Many jobs require you to have wheels to work there, so in a way wheels act as a door 😂
A catheter is more of a window than a door.
Ever since I heard this question, I think about it once a month. The “is a gear a wheel” debate was settled by my friends a while ago. It was not a civil debate. The two current unresolved issues are: Is a cylinder a wheel? Should a revolving door be counted as one door or four? I don’t know why revolving door is even debated. It has to be less than 1% of all doors, so giving it a value of four can’t be enough to put doors in the lead.
I think my solution to one of your unresolved issues would be that a revolving door is both a door and a wheel, and so it should only count as one door but also counts as one wheel, so it cancels out?
@@CZcams_Hivemind_Member THANK YOU. Bringing that up made everyone decide to drop the debate on revolving doors and move on. No progress on cylinders
But if a wheel is functioning as a door, it isn't functioning as a wheel. Does that make it not a wheel? If I cut two circles out of door and attach them to a bike? Are they still a door?
I find this question upsetting
everything is a wheel if you are fast enough. At that rate everything is a door if you hit it fast enought too.
Wheels become doors in every Zombie movie
Wheels. And using Bret's very weird usage, I can call the hinges on my doors wheels, because they turn.
That was hot nonsense! 😂😂😂😂
Lego said it makes 700 million wheels a year in 2019.
What an awesome question!!!
This question reminded me of a old video, for the scientific answer search "Kyle Hill Doors vs Wheels Meme SOLVED".
There are more doors in a single modern computer than wheels on the whole of the Earth. Yes, they are LOGICAL doors, but nontheless doors.
Definitely wheels. Engines have several wheels. Cars have steering wheels. Most toy cars only have wheels and not doors. Sure, there are a lot of doors inside many, many buildings, but where there are doors, there are usually more wheels to be counted. For every one or two cabinet doors, there is a drawer or two with two or more wheels each. Carts and storage have wheels. Appliances like dishwashers use wheels and refrigerators have wheels. Machines and manufacturing have a LOT of wheels. Your mouse probably has a scroll wheel. Wheels are e v e r y w h e r e.
You gotta think about which is more useful. Wheels are simple machines, so they help us get a lot of work done. Even doors can have wheels on them! (Pocket doors and automatic doors, mostly.) But wheels don't really have doors on them.
Surprisingly funny.
There's wheels on sliding glass doors as well as "turn style" doors. Yes there are a LOT of wheels on doors. "Farm doors" Brett isn't wrong.
Elevator doors have wheels. lol
"How many wheels are in an apartment?" I don't know, like ten in the chair I'm sitting on, 32 in my kitchen drawers, 16 in my dishwasher, 10-20 in the drawer under my desk (they're screwed in so I'm not gonna bother to check if it's two or four per box), four in luggage bags I forgot I had, three in my vacuum cleaner, at least four on a pair of sliding doors that I keep open and forget they're doors and not a wall. I don't know how many I have in less obvious places, but that's 79-89 depending on the desk drawers at the minimum. And these are only the wheels in the traditional wheel job of rolling so something can move.
Doors on the other hand? 36 total, and that's counting everything that could be called a door, including the sliding doors I forgot were doors, and appliance doors like for the microwave and washing machine.
Wheels include gears, and doors include hinged access panels.
Brett is talking complete bollocks 🧐
I was on Brett's side originally, because I was thinking "oh revolving doors, that's technically a kind of wheel yeah I can see that" but then he started talking about round doors and just....
I think skyscrapers and rich peoples houses are a win for the door side of the argument.
That's still an irrelevant number. In China alone there are over 100,000 times more bicycles than skyscrapers. And that's not counting cars, planes, trains, toy cars, baby strollers, skateboards etc. There's no way the number of doors is larger.
You can't turn a door into a wheel... unless your door is a wheel.
Of course you can, you just need to make it round.
No it’s easy wow. Most people live in one house with maybe a couple of doors. Most live doubled up or more in the same house but have multiple vehicles each with 2-4. Every single vehicle has minimum of 1 wheel (unicycle super rare) or 6-18 wheels (shipping trucks most common)There is no chance there is more doors than wheels.
Are doorknobs wheels? I read somewhere that all tools boil down to levers and inclined planes. A screw is just a tiny spiral inclined plane. And a wheel is a lever with a fixed point.
What about pocket doors?! They have wheels AND are doors!
Wheel. Because there are bacteria who have wheels. Spinning flagellum rotators are actual molecular wheels. And these bacteria outnumber any number of man-made or even animal related "doors" (as in heart valves, sphincters etc) By many magnitudes
If a flagellum rotators count as wheels, then every cellular membrane channel on every cell counts as a door, and suddenly doors are winning by what I suspect would be several orders of magnitude.
I wanted to hear the Jim Morrison joke...
What about rolling the stone away from Jesus' tomb...oh wait, nevermind...still wanted to hear the Jim Morrison joke about The Doors.
Is any orifice a door? If so. Doors.
I'm definitely thinking wheels, by a wide margin. So many things have wheels on them! I work in a small restaurant. We've got 13 doors. I count at least 62 wheels, and that's not counting moving parts inside of appliances that might possibly count as wheels. Just using the more colloquially recognized definition... Ope, 63, just realized my computer mouse has a wheel for the middle button!
Cabinets, trunks/hoods, anything with a hinge that opens and closes could be considered a door. but theres gotta be more wheels, right?
When is a door not a door?
When it's a jar
Are we including cabinet doors, the average kitchen has more doors than wheels in the cars of that house.
Is a real reel a real wheel?
zero cars exist with more wheels than doors because every car has a hood, a trunk, and a fuel door in addition to at least 2 doors for the passenger compartment.
Limos have more doors than wheels.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Discussing the important things in life......
my house is not big.. maybe 3000ft and i counted 22 doors off the top of my head and probably missed few...
I’m often somewhat with what Brett says. Even if I don’t agree with what he’s saying, he can make coherent points. I have no idea what he was going for here. Also, a door CAN be a wheel, if you cut it into a circle. If he’s gonna make the stretch that a wheel can be a door, the fact that he didn’t think for a second that a door can be a wheel, baffles me. This is the weirdest thing I’ve thought about this much in recent memory
Gears are also wheels so you think of even a wristwatch.
Vault doors in Fallout are wheels.
Its wheels for sure tho. The chair im sitting in have 10 wheels alone.
*NERD MODE -- ENGAGE* I immediately thought of the airlocks on DS9, so I'm "Team Brett".
Theres like 100 billion buildings in the world and only like 1.something billion cars in the world. 100 billion is a hard number to beat, I mean there's like 6 billion hot wheels and that's still only 24 billion wheels.
24 billion wheels from a single brand of toy.
@dh8203 the most popular car toy. 100 billion buildings are multiple times more doors. It would take a lot to get to 100 billion wheels, and that still would not equal to the billions more doors there are.
@@SunBeeSmoked Sure, there are lots of buildings, but if we're talking toy wheels, do you know how many toys have wheels that aren't "car toys"? It's a lot. I have 2 kids, and between toy trains, Lego, and all the other random toys there are at least 10x as many wheels at my house as there are doors.
@@dh8203 cool, buildings with multiple doors, many of them having hundreds of doors, still outnumber toys with wheels. There's also lots of toys that have doors.
More wheels.... think about it. Under a lot of windows, wheels to run on the track. In Pulleys on cranes, wheels etc. Cars... 4 wheels... but same doors... Bikes, no doors... but 2 wheels. But... engines motors etc etc etc. Full of flywheels etc etc.
Many machines have many wheels in them is barely any doors
Are sphincters doors?
There are more doors
You should’ve spent more time on this question, imo.
Wheels. Millions of cars and 18 wheelers, and when the tires become useless they often still hang out. Doors get broken down faster. Thats my logic 🤷♂️
Using the very loose logic on display here, many doors have doorknobs, and when you think about it that's kinda a sort of wheel.
