Loving the dots next to the GPU being talked about, makes it so much easier to track what is being talked about on the graph. I would always have to listen, pause to look over the graph, then continue the video. Huge improvement for these super info dense videos.

Im outraged at the lack of GT710 comparisons.
7900 XTX is way cheaper than RTX 4080 and provides similar performance. Most Nvidia cards are way overpriced for what you get, but their top cards really takes the cake. It's astonishing how they get people to buy them.
7900XTX provides better performance per dollar than 4080 (incl. SUPER) and usually beat Nvidia's significantly more expensive card in rasterization performance. Only in ray tracing is where Nvidia has an edge, sometimes, but the performance in ray tracing titles is so low it's kind of irrelevant.
7900XTX should be on the charts, period. They should also show prices and performance per dollar - to show where people should actually spend their money.
That's why they are called SUPER lmao

Just a friendly correction: AFMF (AMD Fluid Motion Frames) is not the competitor to DLSS 3 Frame Generation. FSR 3 is. It is a very similar procedure. Both combine motion vectors (getting that from the game's engine) and optical flow compute (Nvidia has fixed function hardware for that - AMD does it via compute). Both have latency reduing procedures to compensate the added latency of compute and delaying a frame. Nvidia has reflex and FSR3 has a reflex equivalent baked in. Both require explicit implementation into the game by the developer. But both are so similar (as FSR2 and DLSS2 are very similar how they work) that modders had a easy time to inject FSR3 when DLSS3 Frame Generation is supported and likely vice versa. AFMF on the other hand is not reliant on implementation by the developer - it works transparent to the game. This procedure uses a similar optical flow procedure as in FSR3 but since it does not get motion vectors from the engine it is more limited in terms of stability. Also it does not have a lag reduction mechanism built in. Although both AFMF and FSR3 FG are somewhat similar those are not the same. DLSS 3 Frame Generation should be compared to FSR3. Also an unrelated question: why is there no Radeon 7900 XTX in the benchmarks? That is the competitor to the Geforce 4080 / 4080 Super...

One thing to add, AMD does not have an equivalent to Reflex. Its the other way around. Reflex is an equivalent of Radeon Anti Lag. AMD was the first to add the anti lag features.
@@greenking7390I'm pretty sure that reflex is better than anti-lag, but AMD released anti-lag+ recently and it's about on par with reflex. The only issue was that they made it available at the driver level and it tripped anti-cheats, so a lot of players had problems and they took the feature out temporarily.
The reason for it being worse is the different approach to it. DLSS vs FSR is a good example. @@leonro

I notice a glaring hole in these graphs.... the 4080 super is MSRP at $999, the exact MSRP of the 7900 XTX yet the numbers for that card is nowhere to be seen on these charts.
"Flagship" card or not, the XTX is the exact same price as the 4080 super and should be in these comparisons to show potential buyers all the options

quick research shows the absolute cheapest 4080 (not super) sells for the same price as 7900xtx, with most 4080's being about $250 more for the same level of card. the 4080 supers look about $500 more expensive than a similar 7900xtx. Honestly not sure why the AMD card they chose to put up is one that competes with a 4070.

@@jawohlbxb3534it would not be an apples to apples comparison. The 7900XTX is up to 18% better in raster vs the 4080 and the 4080 Super. AMD has released a lot of improvements, FSR3 exists and in the few games where is supported works almost as good as DLSS3 and no way in hell it’s just 2% better, otherwise here we are saying that internet is wrong and LMG is not. This review is, once again, bullshit. No sense in saying 20min of why Nvidia is releasing flawed products if you can’t bother showing the improvements of the others. Intel has made improvements, AMD has made improvements (even in RT, and not showing how AMD fares better with lumen is pure crap and not the full picture).
I miss magazines, product coverage used to be slower but it was indeed thorough…
Please add the Intel Arc range to these comparrissions, even if it is only to show how far behind it is.
Driver versions have been coming and usually always a good perfomance increase with them.

7900XTX is actually about 100 bucks cheaper than the 4080 SUPER and performs considerably better...
Not including it in the review is poor journalism to be honest. It made AMD look unfairly worse, but still Nvidia managed to look bad. That says something about how overrated and overpriced team green's cards are. Nvidia COULD beat AMD if they want, but they'd rather trick customers into paying WAY more than the product is worse. Reviewers aren't really critical enough. Again, that's saying something as Nvidia is getting roasted for their SUPER release.

@@spicywater1494 It's not wrong. It's pretty simple, you take results from review and calculate it against the price. If you end up with more performance per dollar, that's the card you should buy. 7900 XTX provides more performance per dollar.
Besides, saying it's worse because of VR is biased cherry picking. You have to look at the overall performance versus price.
Also, when it comes to VR, that's something that can be improved upon in driver updates. Nvidia tends to improve less over time in driver updates because they're better optimized on launch. Meaning, over time, AMD tend to improve quite a lot compared to how it was in reviews.

Not really a defense because I agree that it should have been on the slides, it probably boiled down to not a good video. I know people like to shout at the wind about numbers but the truth is that the xtx and 4080 were like within 5% of each other in the 95% percentile of games. The major knock on the 4080 was always the cost vs the XTX. Now that the Msrps are equal and the costs are so close together, the cards are again pretty much a full push (I mean the super per other reviewers only offered a 1 to 3% better performance then the 4080. So that isn't game changing, the price is the bigger change).
If you don't need or expect to use any of the other features like dlss and crap, then the XTX is the better buy for a little cheaper. If you expect to use any of the features and crap then the 4080 super is the better buy for a little more money. Both cards are too expensive in my opinion so I am still not buying this gen, but it is what it is.

Appreciate the 3 in 1 video, and glad that the 7900XTX got a shout-out in the table later in the video, but if you ran the benchmarks to qualify it being a percentage faster, then you should have showed those benchmarks in the charts

7900 XTX is slightly more powerful in raw power but quite a bit worse in ray tracing. In raw power benchmarks, it beats out all Nvidia cards but the 4090.

Why wasn't the 7900XTX included in this testing? The 4080 Super is directly in it's price bracket.
I think they deemed it as not necessary in their Nvidia card comparison video as it does not offer too much more than the 7900 XT in these charts. It'd only really be one or two places higher for a card that only compares with the 4800 Super for price point, which I think the 7900 XT is sufficient enough for.
That said, AMD really makes bad office work chips.

@@ReasonableLogicFrom what I've seen in Benchmarks, FPS tests, and DLSS/FSR comparisons, they seem pretty neck and neck, with some games working better on the XTX and some working better on the 4080 S.
That said, I do agree that it would've been a fine addition to the scores, but I think either they didn't add it, considering that they haven't done a review for the XTX (probably don't have one in their lab), nor does it give any comparisons that the 7900 XT doesn't already prove.

People searching up SUPER reviews likely won't see a point in watching a review for the 4080 as it's the older card. So they are likely to be left with the wrong impression by this review and the failure to provide the proper recommendation for what to buy. Remember that those who need the information are those who don't have it. They likely won't have full overview over AMD's and Nvidia's lineup, let alone half of it. And they need reviews to be properly informed, because most people aren't looking to do in-depth analysis. That's the job of the reviewer, and the reviewer didn't do that job.

He was talking about AMD's driver-level frame interpolation technology by itself and why it was not included on the charts (where only Nvidia's equivalent was listed). Not a single graphics card was mentioned to be put off for a later review. You are the one who should watch before commenting: 8:22
What they actually said was that they "couldn't get a consistent outputs such that we would be confident putting them on our graphs". They are referring to AMD's equivalent of DLSS + driver-level frame interpolation, it should be very obvious as they even show the option in the control panel and talk about AMD's release of the technology, never mentioning 7900XTX once while doing it!
You just assume that it was somehow related to 7900 XTX because they showed a video clip of AMD's video of the release of FSR 3 and 7900 XTX is used by AMD in their benchmark. So you probably saw that while not actually paying attention to what was said.
Besides, there are no good reason 7900 XTX shouldn't be included if other 7000 series AMD cards are. The point you seem to miss is that the results from 4080 S was presented without comparison results from the competing product. That should never happen in a review.
Please be more mindful of the accuracy of your statements. Having that said, it's not the end of the world to make a mistake, just try to be more mindful of it next time. :)

Some feedback on the comparison graphs in the "What's New" section, it would seem to make more sense to have the percentage color coding flipped for detrimental increases such as temperature and power. I had to do a triple take when a 10% increase in total graphics power was coded green and not red.

I find it odd the 7900 xtx was not added to these graphs. Maybe in the US you can't get that card below the cheapest 4080 Super, but here in Canada, where you guys are located (and similarly for most of the world) you can absolutely get a top of the line 7900 xtx for cheaper than the cheapest 4080 Super available...
Theirs no point the 7900XTX is faster and will always be faster it doesn't have to be in the charts for anyone to know this all the Nvidiots can't get it through their head Nvidia is selling you the same card for less that's it it's not faster 4080never came anywhere near a 7900XTX.

@@johngaltline9933 depends where you live. Here i canada the 4080s and 7900xtx were within 10-20 bucks of eachother. I snagged a 4080s for 1369 canadian rupies, i think there was a listing from pcpartpicker that showed a 7900xtx for 1355$ or so? the xfx speedster card i had my eye on was 1369$
I wanted to go AMD, but given the benchmarks I found comparing the 7900xtx and 4080 all had the 7900xfx only slightly ahead in raster, and FAR behind in dlss
ay tracing, I just couldn't justify it. Nvidia's software and features are just better\better supported. As a consumer, I go for what i think is the best value, and the tiny advantages off the AMD card just don't outweigh the downsides. If the xfx was 100-150 bucks cheaper, i would have absolutely gone for it.

I don't normally comment but the exclusion of the 7900 XTX from the charts is really a problem with this review. It is THE direct competitor to the 4080 Super (you even say this in the video at 9:33.) You also say the 4080 Super has "slightly better raster" performance than the XTX, which contradicts your own graphic you're showing at that moment. I'm seeing some people comment "he addressed why the 7900 XTX wasn't included" which is wrong. He addressed why they excluded AMDs frame generation from the charts, which is a totally separate issue from the 7900 XTX. I love LTT and will keep watching, but the XTX needed to be on the charts in this video.
Odd that you'd show a 7900XT, but not an XTX. You' ve got $1k cards in the chart. So why not the amd one?

This is a review on the new variants of the 4070 and 4080 so it should be compared to the equivalent models of AMD. The 7900XTX is the equivalent of the 4090.
The 7900XT is on the same level of the 4080 super both on it's position in the series and the price.

@@AL5520 AMD doesn't have a 4090 level card. the XTX ought to be in the lineup, being $300-$500 cheaper than a 4080 Super By price, the XT is a competitor to the 4070... The very cheapest 4080s (not super) I can find start at the same price as an XTX, but most are $200 or more higher. There's no reason not to put a less expensive competing card on the list.

I like that this video was pretty quick and to the point with minimal fluff and no reading the graph line by line force feeding me the results. Almost perfect for me personally. I know some people want to hear far more details and want longer videos with reviews like this, but I hate video for long data presentation. If it's too long and just data presentation of something "routine" like this GPU release has turned out to be, just give it to me in a written article so I can read it myself.
7900 XTX is missing from most of the benchmarks though. I get the 7900 XT has fallen in price and gotten to be a good deal, especially in comparison to the 4080 and 4080 Super. But the 7900 XTX is the price competitor. And Microcenter, my preferred retailer, only ever really has one SKU of 7900 XT at a time with limited stock, 7900 XTX is way easier to find.
Boy am I happy that I went for a used 7900 XTX.

It points out that the marketing hoopla around new graphics card releases often overshadows the actual performance differences, which aren't always as significant as they're made out to be. Agreed about NVIDIA having to better cater to gamers on a tighter budget.
They have to cater to gamers better ON ALL BUDGETS. At every performance to price point except ray tracing Nvidia loses.
The only thing they have going for them is, IF you want the best of the best, they offer it. But at a steep price increase over second place

I suspect nVidia is just reading the room. They know AMD is now on the socket (AM5) and node sizing that will finally enable them to completely obsolete entry level discrete GPUs with their future APUs. nVidia very likely won't be able to please investors with a profit margin large enough to bother creating low end discrete GPUs that can match the performance per dollar, footprint, or power efficiency of AMD APUs, so the logical pathway forward is to abandon the low end/low midrange and go full Apple style boutique and cater only to the people working with AI, or to gamers with far more money than sense.

Between botching the charts by not showing the direct competitor and claiming AFMF is the direct competitor to DLSS 3, everyone should be getting their tech reviews literally anywhere else.

Im still using my 1080ti and its still running great. I don't get RT or DLSS but I do get 60fps in pretty much all games at 1440p which is perfectly fine and barely a difference to 4K.
I feal like the RX 7900 XTX is missing hear. It would have made a lot more sence for comparing 4080 / 4080Super Performence. Also I feal like AMDs best card is often missing from your charts, is there a reasen for that?
Any particular reason the 7900XTX was left off the benchmark comparisons throughout the entire video, despite acknowledging it was the direct competitor to the 4080 Super at 9:33? Even compared the 4080 Super to the 7900XT instead in some graphs? Seems like a major oversight.

I really do appreciate these type of videos and miss the ones about motherboard too. I love the new direction of the videos that tell us about the different parts of the motherboard recently too. Nvidia's latest graphics cards might be boring, but your videos about them are not boring.

I've seen this on a few reviews already. They don't put the xtx because it does better. I use mine for productivity work and can't rely on amd for that. If I only gamed I would get the xtx.

Just an FYI, AMD Fluid Motion Frames is AMD's driver-level frame gen. Their DLSS 3 competitor is FSR 3 which has to be implemented in the game itself.
I mean, it's a competitor in the same way that a Porsche is a competitor for a Tesla.
(for anyone who doesn't get it, the Teslas are technologically superior to Porsches just like Nvidia's solution is dramatically superior to AMDs - both are still better than having a Volkswagen which is the 1080 in this analogy)

I looked at the Steam hardware survey yesterday, and not only is the 2060 still the number one card, but the percentage isn't changing. At all.
I bought a used 3080 LHR almost 2 and 1/2 years ago, and with a couple of outliers, I'm still perfectly happy at 1440. Until there's 4090-level performance at an attainable price point, I'm not going to feel compelled to upgrade outside of a lottery win.

It's simple. Go with XTX if you don't care about RT. It's generally around 3-5% better for cheaper (source: LTT data in this video and Daniel Owen's benchmarking videos). If you want to play RT, then go 4080S since the XTX loses pretty hard on that front.

The 7900 XTX is cheaper and is still better than the 4080 SUPER. Ray tracing is the only area where Nvidia has a real advantage, but the performance isn't good enough for it to matter much, really. And RT titles are the vast minority of games. Besides, AMD keep up okay in RT anyway, to the point where it's not really worth it paying more for team green and get worse rasterization performance, where most gaming is.
So, get yourself a 7900XTX. The drivers are fine, it's just people repeating old stuff without actually having any experience with it themselves.

Problem is, though, that the video was not super at all. There are errors in the thermal graph (look at the 4070 Ti SUPER) and the lack of 7900XTX which is cheaper and better performing. Now the 4080 SUPER has no competitor presented in the review and most people come here for knowledge, not because they already know this stuff. Those people won't be sufficiently informed and LTT fails to do what a reviewer should do, putting similarly priced products against each other and awarding the best buys.
I much prefer this format to having to sit through the three separate videos Jensen was presumably hoping to get from this underwhelming launch. I would say though that it is a bit strange the 7900 XTX is not featured in the data, given that it is significantly cheaper than both the 4080 and 4080 super.
I like this format. Straight to the point without any filler content in between. Really prefer this for product reviews that don't need useless skits.

So....the way Nvidia works is they design the silicon and then manufacture it. The chips that are "B" tier and have flaws they'll sell at a series launch with the flawed cores disabled and the "A" tier chips they save to make Supers. Or you can buy a titanium card that has an "A" tier chip. They never actually changed the manufacturing process. Just saved the better silicon to be rereleased later. 5% more cores? They never actually changed nm or nodes and the gddr actually got cheaper so you're really just paying extra for what they could've sold a year ago.
They'll also take "B" tier top class card silicon and put it in a mid grade card with the bad cores disabled and run a slightly higher power consumption to push a couple of MHz out of it and attach a better heat sink. Hence the "Redux" comment.

If they can circumvent policies that restrict shipping their AI specific chips to China, then what you mentioned isn't really a big deal for them.

As others have mentioned, really missing the 7900xtx in these comparisons. For a non-sponsored video, just doesn't make sense not to compare apples to apples. I could see spinning a sponsored segment making the shiny new things top the charts in most cases, not for a true review however.

It literally double the input lag, it how it works. It has to delay frame and wait for another frame to then interpolate between them and display them. It HAS TO delay one frame ahead making it show on screen exactly twice as later than it could.
It's marginal input lag, when base fps is like 120. But then it doesnt make much sense to use it. If your fps is 30, you will get "displayed" 60fps with latency of 25 fps. yeah, really something only professional gamers can detect.
Disaster that is 4080 super is also mentioned but swept under the rug.

If they had the data to compare the averages at the chart near the end, they ran the tests, so it should have been on the graphs and written into the script as the direct competitor. The entire tone of the video would be different...the XTX is $50+ cheaper with similar raster performance, and better 4k raster. Any review of the 4080s without having it in the comparison is only serving to compare the new card to the old version of itself, that performs exactly the same.
If this wasn't completely intentional, it was incompetent and negligent.

@@kl0ness You watch the video. :) Nowhere is the lack of 7900 XTX justified or even addressed. In the video they talk about why they didn't include FSR + frame interpolation results (for all AMD cards, regardless of 7900 XTX). There is a very basic and limited summary page where they acknowledge that the 7900 XTX is the competitor to 4080 S. This does in no way account for 7900 XTX missing from all charts!
For all we know the figures they quote are old numbers as other review outlets get higher percentage improvements from 7900 XTX vs 4080 S. If there's a 5 % improvement and 9 % price difference, then that translates into 13 % better performance per dollar for the 7900 XTX. That's how much the price makes a difference so many fail to realize this.

@linus, @all most of this videos is about gaming. what about video edit, in resolve for example? i have a 1060, it does do the job, slowly, but surely. so, in a low budget scene, is the 4060ti enough and a reason to upgrade ( resolve studio and some simple Ai neuronal stuff like transcribing text) ? some of us do prowork in video, but because is eco-social video we dont make money, so, low budget is king. opinions on my question? ( have in mind that for upgrading from gtx1060 to 4060ti i need to upgrade motherboard and cpu.. here goes the money :-) thanks for any input

Call me crazy, but the low end gpu should basically be RTX A2000 12 GB. RTX 3050 performance wise, but uses only 70 watts of power (no need for additional power cable, only PCI slot) vs 130 watt that RTX 3050 needs. On top of that A2000 is small and quiet. The only trouble is that it is marketed for professional use. We used to have cards like this that were marketed towards regular consumer market. So the technology is there.
Going back Team Red for flagship build was the best decision.
To be clear, FSR 3 and the driver Fluid Motion Frames are different implementations, as FSR 3 uses temporal information from the game to generate frames and requires game integration, while the driver Fluid Motion Frames adds frames after the fact outside of the game without this temporal information. These are two different things, so why show the AMD FSR 3 demo video? Also at 9:03, you showed the in-game FPS and the captured FPS by AMD's overlay. The difference in FPS would not be representative of what it actually is using AFMF, as fluid motion frames would be using part of the GPU for frame generation, reducing the'real FPS' that the in-game counter tracked. Also, why didn't you compare an RX 7900 XTX?

It would've looked quite differently with 7900XTX at the top of the charts, when it's a cheaper card. Now it just looks like AMD can't compete with the 4080 series. Those who lack knowledge (the ones actually looking to this video for information) are the ones who will not know this and are likely to not know about the different models in the lineup of AMD and Nvidia. That's what reviews are supposed to inform people about.

I genuinely think that LTT is a neutral party, at least to a fair degree. I can only speculate, but my guess for the omission would be that it was related to poor prioritization, time-constraints and misjudgement rather than along the lines of what you "suggested" that I believe.
Nonetheless, it doesn't matter in terms of my previous statements. The point still stands, no matter the reason for omission. And if your only takeaway from my comment is that you think I hate Nvidia and think LTT are helping them, you should read it again with the knowledge that your interpretation and assumption is incorrect.

Just wanted to say thank you for including the rtx 3080 in these comparisons. it's the card i have, but most of your past comparisons didn't show it, and i had no clue how much of a difference there was between it and other 30 series cards, much less 40 series cards
Video idea. what setup can run vr modded flatscreen games the best. For instance, the uevr mod that lets you play a lot of unreal engine 4 and 5 flatscreen games in vr, and the other mods for like cyberpunk 2077 that let you play in 3DoF with a headset. these modded games are usually very performance intensive and even with a 4090 the cyberpunk 2077 experience needs lowered settings to get smooth 60fps. If you can get a system that can play these on maxed out settings, (or close to it) and still get smooth playable frame rates that would be a game changer for the vr fiends out there.
What matters it's the MSRP, maybe the price of the 7900 xtx comes down with it... I think
