After eight years of attacking President Obama, Fox has happily adapted to its new role as a guard dog for the Trump administration. But the relationship between Fox and Trump is less of a romance and more of a hostage situation. Rupert Murdoch, Executive Chairman of News Corp (which owns Fox News), was a vocal critic of Trump during the 2016 campaign. He criticized Trump’s position on immigration, accused Trump of “embarrassing” the country, and was once described as “the billionaire Donald Trump can’t win over.”
So what explains Murdoch’s change of heart? Why is one of Trump’s most influential critics allowing his network to turn into a Trump PR channel?

During the Bush era I heard on Fox News a few times them saying that he is the president and to respect the office, After 8 years of Obama bashing seems like they are back to their old philosophy.
What I found funny was watching a recent Dubya interview. Now, I'm sure time and distance have had an effect, not to mention the absent pressures of the office, but it was kind of amazing. He was lucid, thoughtful, reasonable, and empathetic. I don't know how much of it is that he just looks better in comparison to the dumpster fire we've got now, but it was an eye-opener.

Much of the US is a third world country in terms of its standard of living. You can't render half your nation poor and not expect extreme results such as in Hitler's Germany and Mussolini's Italy. Liberals seem clueless to this economic reality. Working class voters have abandoned the liberals and the Democrat party as it has become more and more a liberal economic elite party (Hollywood, Sillicon Valley, San Francisco rich liberals). The problem with American politics is that the upper class have so much economic power that translates into political power where they can buy the politicians and make sure that no social democractic reforms can ever take place. The greed of the donor class prevents any redistribution of wealth and alleviation of poverty. America is headed for either socialism on the left or fascism on the right but the status quo of corrupt corporate centrism will not last.

The reason why they react so "normally" is because their corporate jobs shield them from any of the impacts that come along with the policy changes that they report on. At the end of the day they- and their families- are not the ones who need public services because of the fact that their quality of life is not dependent on it. They have the finances to shield themselves and are as a result disconnected from their audience. Only when they are able to see for their own eyes and realize that this something could very well affect them- exhibit Katrina cooper- do they tend to rally and become emotional. It's sad that they don't actively try to sympathize with their audience and portray the actual severity of situations because it would honestly cause more beneficial policy changes to lower/ middle class families.

Growing up in Adelaide we had an afternoon newspaper 'The News', it's editor was one Rupert Murdoch. Over the years old Rupert has done an amazing job of building that one newspaper (no longer being published) into an expansive media empire.
The one thing through all the years that has remained constant is Rupert's passion at making kings and overthrowing governments from the front page of his media outlets.
Back in the day 'The News' had a good sports section that had just enough articles to read on the bus or train on the way home each night. Apart from the sports section the only real use for 'The News' was to wrap up rubbish, vegetable shavings and the like.
It's kind of sad to see that Rupert hasn't grown as a human being since those long past days in Adelaide. Still only good for sports, the rest of the news is trash, and he thinks it's his right to decide who gets to rule the world.

it's hard to positively report on anything the trump administration says since they lie and falsify information all the time. cnn in particular has been good at calling them out for things they say that are blatantly false, which i think is a good thing. historically news sources only really "parrot" what the president, vp, press secretary etc say. i think it's valiant and courageous for these news sources to take responsibility to ensure that false propaganda isnt open accepted by their audience.

I think the G.O.P. stands as the biggest threat to the comparatively poor majority's well being and deserves the scrutiny it's receiving and more. However, I assume you'd agree with me that the DNC deserves some major scrutiny as well. The corporate democrats are stifling mobilization of party reform brought on by the public success of Bernie Sanders' campaign and the obvious social and political failure of the Clinton campaign.
If we can get and real movement to bleed out the corruption and backdoor campaign deals by replacing the standing representatives from both sides of the political spectrum with principled candidates, there might be some hope for us.
