- View more at www.MathAndScience.com. In this lesson, you will learn what the mean of a data set is, and how calculating the mean can tell us a great deal about a set of data. The mean is one of three ways to measure the center of a data set. We find the mean by adding up the data values, then dividing by the number of data points. In this way, we find a center value that is representative of the data. The only downside is that any outliers in the data will be incorporated into the calculation, which can skew the mean undesirably. If outliers are present in the data, it is more common to calculate the median of the data set, in which we throw out the outliers and focus on the data value that lies in the center of the data when ordered numerically.
You’re so helpful you can literally be my shadow partner, you are way better than my maths teacher. Keep up the great work!
Thanks!
Better than my teacher,🙂so happy I found this channel I just got in middle 🏫
Your the best math teacher I have ever seen
I love your teaching. to clearly Explant student .
Thank you so much!
Thanks
Sir can you upload this in the app?
Nice
I think some quantities like temperature and speed are better represented by their average values.
Is the average of 0,2,4 is
(0+2+4)÷3=2.
Yes!
Hi ser,
in which category in math tutor I can find this lesson.
I am subscribing in math tutor app and I can find it bolw any category
Good teacher
Thanks!
If “ the mean” = “ the average “, Why do they bother to call it the mean? Why don’t they just call it the average and leave it at that? Why have two different expressions to represent the same information? I am sure there must be a reason, but it is not apparent.
Yeah I agree. I don’t make the rules :)
michael myers. Extremely well written. The Mean does sound like the Median.
I thought the Mean was meaning the MEDIAN not the AVERAGE. Confusion.
No, mean and median are totally different.
