I have got to say that I do love my Oasis. It's so comfortable to hold, the screen is big enough, and I just love the buttons. I also love that I can switch hands (flip it over). I originally bought it because I could listen to audiobooks AND it had the warm light. So, it's the latest version, but I still love it and I'll use it till it dies, probably.
My husband has one of the new paperwhites, the screen on that is almost as big as my Oasis, but the bezel is so narrow he's constantly changing pages accidentally. It does have usbC, but other than that, not as good.
my oasis every once in a while while jump chapters. Its strange but Luckily its only happened once our twice. Im reading and changing a page then bam it went back a chapter our forward.
That’s exactly why I loveee the kindle I always lock the screen and use the buttons
The final comment of "should there be" a follow-up or refresh of the Oasis, I'd have to lean to yes. The Paperwhite/Paperwhite signature is arguably a downgrade option from the oasis on several points (most importantly for me is the ergonomic aspect) and the scribe is too big to really be considered a "carry along" reader. The scribe is great for home, maybe the office/school, but not so much the cafe or park/beach. The Oasis fills (filled) that mid point gap between those two option perfectly and there needs to be something that will take its place in the void left behind.
I have seen people on reddit lamenting the death of the Oasis, and I can see why, the extra space on the side looks super comfy to hold it. Kinda sad that everyone else believed in this format except Amazon themselves.
On paper, the Kindle Oasis form factor is probably the best for e-reader. Sad to see it go.
Fell into the rabbit hole and just kept researching about ereaders - different brands, models, designs. Thanks for your videos as it really helps getting to see the features of each!
The reason for the battery split in Oasis 1 was to reduce the weight. When you remove the cover/battery, it is as light as a feather.
Which sounds like a smart design that more hand helds should use.
I haven't had the opportunity to get my own e-reader yet but thank you for your channel! It's very helpful in learning more about the specifications of existing ereaders. I'm not looking to buy the Kindle Oasis but I have a friend that has it and they love it!
I have original Kindle oasis. Other than the lack of warm lighting, it was best reading companion. Disappointing that it is discontinued.
I still have mine too. I love the battery cover for it.
It's bc they're gonna come out with a better one
Thanks for the videos on ebook readers. I've found you comparisons of various brands exteremely helpful.
You guys have a great channel. Thanks for all the reviews - they’re super helpful!
They say it’s the same as the paperwhite but it isn’t. The lighting is better and the text is clearer on my oasis. I was so hoping they would come out with a usb c version but crushed they discontinued all together. 😢😢😢
Weirdly enough, your review videos are always honest, yet so chill to watch ❤
Nicely done video. Thank you!
Great channel with great reviews. Keep up the good work !!!
Love that channel and the contents.Great work!
I want to buy an ereader and your channel really helps me to make a good choice! Thanks!
Your videos really help a lot!!
I always appreciate your videos, especially when there are new releases of ebook readers. User of Kindle Paperwhite 7th edition for a very long time now. Hope to get an upgrade or a newer model of e-reader.
Done all the steps! thank you!
Looking forward! Really love the kindle devices and wish to have one :)
Thanks for the update. Sad to see the Oasis discontinued.
Already watched this video. Here for the second time for the contest. Nice, informative content.
I loved the second gen Oasis, it was my common companion and it was a great device across the board. I did change out for a paperwhite about a year or so ago, honestly i didn't see at that point any reason not to upgrade to a oasis 3 and ironically the two selling points for the PW were 1) I could fit it in my pocket and 2) the USB-C connector (really). I hated having to bring along a sep wire and connector for my Oasis and now one or so chargers and i'm good to go.
Cool look back onto the history 👍👍
From my understanding, and as I've seen on the r/kindle subreddit, those that have an oasis absolutely love it, so I do think that there is a market for the Oasis, I just don't know how much innovation there has been in the e-ink space for an entirely new generation
This is sad since I really love Kindle Oasis. But will have to see what Amazon has in store for the upcoming year.
I have the 3rd Ged Oasis. The screen has been cracked since 2022 and the screen does not work anymore. I got the Signature Paperwhite soon after, and I guess I will stick to that for now.
Kinda sad they discontinued this, there's so much possibilities for updates
Did all the steps, thanks !
Informative.thank you for updating. I will sticky with my kindle paper white.
Just got an old kindle a few months ago. Looks like it was an interesting device. Might consider looking for one of these as and when I want to upgrade.
Hopefully, this is just a pause before releasing a device similar to the Oasis but with better specs and other enhancements. I'm not a fan of notetaking readers, but if they go that way in this size factor, I'll take a look and see if I want to make the move. The larger Scribe is bigger than I want. Hopefully, they don't issue an update that fries my Oasis as they did with the Voyage, and I continue to get years of use out of a great device that is still excellent at doing what I got my e-reader for - reading books.
Great review!!! Keep it up!!!
Great review!
Herr from the previous video but woah this is so interesting. Gonna binge all the videos now
this was the first Kindle that I saw in those days, but it was nearly impossible to buy in Argentina because it was too expensive....so I got the basic and still have it.
thank you for the opportunity
Great reviews!
I have all 3 oasis but i love the first one. The battery cover was awesome and when you take it off it feels so light.
Thanks for the vid 😊
Cant wait for the contest.
Nice information on discontinued kindle
This was an interesting look back at a unique Kindle device lineup.
The Oasis form factor with the buttons has its place in the lineup- I wonder if Amazon will replace it in the future.
Thank you for the great video
Good review!
thanks for the review
Good luck for everyone!
I remembered how much I wanted this Amazon Kindle Oasis when it was released.
Interesting information about the e-reader devices. A good option to purchase.
I hope they come out with more amazing products!
cool analysis, the scribe is looking to be a good successor. hoping to be able to get a kindle from the giveaway!
Done all the steps, thanks! good luck to everyone, but more , good luck to me
Done 💯
Wish the best for you guys
Oasis is my first ereader. Still have it now
That's such an amazing product! although i want the blue one :D
While warm lighting finally made the Kindle Oasis tempting, it still wasn't enough to get me to buy one. Instead of getting one, I got a Likebook Mars for reading Kindle books at night. Then I got a Paperwhite 5 and a Scribe after those devices came out, these each being more to my liking than an Oasis.
Here from the previous video !!!🎉
I just got into e-readers and was stuck between getting the latest Paperwhite or the Oasis. I went with Paperwhite but still thought of getting Oasis later. I hope they make a signature edition for the Oasis because I like how the Oasis looks.
So beautiful
I remember going back and forth on getting a Paperwhite or an Oasis back in the day, but I ended up getting the Paperwhite because I liked the symmetry of the screen and its bezels. Maybe if Amazon eventually makes an updated Oasis in which you can jot down notes I'll get it but otherwise I guess I'll be sticking to my Paperwhite.
I always wanted to get an oasis... Hopefully the replacement is even better!
That looks like it was a very good and fun erader. It sad to see it discontinued.
I like kindle e-ereaders. I have a kindle paperwhite 2 which still work. I bought it 5 years ago.
I remember how much I wanted the Oasis. I hope they will direct the effort into the Scribe now
I really wanted one for so long, but it is what it is
Hoping they introduce a scribe at the Oasis size. Commenting for contest! Thank you!!
Would love to have one.
Informative video.
Never had kindle and even now kindle is still a dream device for me. Just a year ago I opted for Kobo due to various reasons(Manga, light novel, waterproofing, white, and various other reasons) having purchased that, I never really got to reasoning myself to buy a Kindle(even just the basic) even though they are entirely different ecosystems.
Can't believe they're discontinuing a very successful lineup(Heard very good reviews from fellow eReader) and venturing to color territory(starting with Gallery3). Time sure flies.
My Kindle Oasis sit happily with recent uploads charging itself next to ... my Kindle DX - except for a bit more difficulty in getting things onto the DX, both are in active use, still - very much unlike the iPads I bought at the same time ...
I use my Voyage on a daily basis as it works great since years and is very light. I dont mind to hang just in Amazons Ecosystem (they have the best digital library where I come from), but a while ago I had an Oasis in my hands and really liked the buttons... Maybe a Xioami 7 could be the next thing for me? Who knows... ;D
I never had a Kindle Oasis. Just got the Kindle Scribe, and I love it!
I still use mine regularly. It’s my backup when have my Paperwhite offline. :-)
i got the kindle oasis killer and can tell it is amazing
Great vid.
i have the old gen kindle AND REALLY WANTED TO UPGRADE TO A NEW ONE
I always wanted one
I really like the review here hope to have an ereader soon
The only important thing for me to choose tihs instead of a Paperwhite is the the big margin for holding it since the Paperwhite and the basic kindle had now more narrow margins.
I hope to have another Kindle to give to my sister. She loves reading like I do but she have difficulty with small text on books.
I always wanted a Kindle Oasis!
Thanks for your services, Kindle Oasis.
always wanted one, never got around to purchasing :/
boox leaf 2 has finally become the oasis I never had. but yeah, that metal case is just unmatched by any other ereaders.
Great vid a usual
Had a 2nd gen Oasis, it was a nice eReader but now I look at my Kobo Forma and just smile. I made the right choice for me by switching.
Looks so cool! Does it come in blue? :D
Kindle should come up with 7.8 inch screen and page page turn buttons as on Kindle keyboard 3
It's because of your content i wanted to buy a kindle! I like your content a lot and the way do it it's really fantastic and catchy
Good luck for everyone
Shared to FB and commented as directed 😊
Amazing device
I actually have the Paperwhite 1st Gen (2012) and the latest Paperwhite Signature Edition. I want to get the Oasis now that it is finally gone. Hopefully Amazon will make a newer model of the Oasis or make a smaller (more portable version) Kindle Scribe. Only time will tell.
Fingers crossed 🤞
Never had one. Too expensive for me. So, I got the paperwhite. But, I would love to have one.
I reeeeeeally want the blue kindle and mine is over 10 years old!
All of the competitors have one major issue (for me, at least) - replacement battery availability. The Boox one is android-based, but you have to jump through multiple hoops to get a first-party battery. Haven't done much research on the rest. I'll stick with my Voyage and it's spare battery till it's dead.
I love my oasis and Amazon should have released a new one with usb c cable like the did with the new paper white. I bought that one too and think it’s actually more responsive than the oasis but I do miss the buttons! So I use both .. sad to see it go though ..
Good one
