It is a simple game, good for beginners, like Tom says...but great for one other reason.
When having a group of friends over, it's a good game when you know that everyone is going to be chatting about a hundred other topics.

I play Tokaido with my group whenever we want a break from the heavier games. The design and artwork is great and it feels different. Makes you go "ahhhhhhhhh...." I'd say it's interesting enough for more die hard gamers to try it out, especially if they want a board game make them awaken their Buddha within :)

I think this game is designed to make you feel good, which is thematic on the journey theme. Everything you collect is designed in a way that makes you feel good, from collecting food (everyone loves food) to collecting pretty pictures that you have to piece together. They are tangible, immediate rewards that are very fulfilling to collect, and that's why I think it is a good game.
It's a light game that you can lose and still feel awesome because you collected all this cool stuff.

Although easy is a relative term, I wouldn't call this a super easy game to play well. A player needs to take note of the other player's abilities, as well as their point gathering strategies. You then have to determine if it's worth the effort to block an opponent's path to points, or follow your own optimal path. You could even go so far as to predict that another player will block another player's path for you. Sure, this isn't as hard as Ghost Stories, but it's a good time!

Why do people crap on a game for not being complex when it wasn’t designed to be complex? This is a great game with family.

Beautiful art, no question about it and a nice light game to play when the group need a little break. There may not be much interaction between players but you don't have to wait too long until it's your turn again.
This reminds me a bit of Dixit, a calm game with awesome artwork.

My family and I enjoy this game. Although I am a gamer, my husband and oldest daughter are not, but they will play this one.

I agree that it is super easy and "zen" style game. But man, when i saw it on WatchItPlayed it just captivated me with this simplicity and minimalistic design board.

The lack of strategy in this game is a turn off for me, but I can relate to people liking this kind of game.

I’m not sure many people realise but this game is quite vicious and tactical at the 2 player count.

Over at Watchitplayed here on youtube, Rodney and his 2 children play it all the way thru. It looks like a great game. I liked it so much after watching Rodney I ordered it thru Amazon. It looks like a light and fun game, perfect for a family night.

i recently bought this cheap, its beautiful to look at and its theme is strong. My only gripe is the stupidly long board. I know its representing a journey, but as a graphic designer myself I think with a little thought you could have made the board better by making it square. With a little creativity you could have still represented a journey in a square format.

Wish I would have caught this kickstarter while it was live; it's one of very few that I would have backed. This is just one of those special games that fills a unique spot in a collection.
Love the relaxing mood and the gentle aesthetic; it just serves a purpose that few other games do. It's also highly thematic; the game itself is more about the journey than the destination, just like the story it set out to tell.

And Dixit was a huge hit i my group, so I think this one would be too.
    Thanks Tom!
