Thanks for taking the time to make the video. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the most ingenious. I don't have time for ingenuity on every little detail of every project I do. Thank God for CZcams and for people like you who care to share. (And, "YES, if you want a straight cut with a reciprocating saw you need a jig!!!"--Ignore the haters.) Thanks again.
Great job. I take an extra blade and slide it into the curf once I'm about 1/3 way cut. It acts as a shim and makes the blade cut a ton better with less vibration. Hope this helps 😃
Amazing the number of armchair quarterbacks spewing advice in the comments. My math professor once told me "there is always more than one way to find a solution". The method works for you and in the end that's all that matters. Great job gettin' jiggy with it.
mr10man69. The only right way is the one that works for you. It needn't be right but it should look right, many jobs you know where it's wrong, no one else dose.
The good and bad comments and comments about them, help tremendously. I'm fine with the armchairs. Most people come here to learn and sometimes I learn more from the comments section. Lol!
Thanks much. I need to cut the tops off some round wooden posts where you can't get a circular saw on to because they're close to a wall. This will get er done.
Dominic Cassar Looking for ideas. Angle iron. Great idea. Two pieces with two holes on each. Square off top with pencil line. Match angle iron to line and drill into post. Cut along iron. Going to try that on my six by six.

I mean... you did it. You're going to piss through reciprocating saws like that if you do this all the time. I could hear the motor screaming for mercy. Anytime the guide is bouncing around like that you're beating the motor to death.

You meant kerf, not curf. And yes, good idea to use a spreader to keep the kerf open while cutting.
Great video and the sheet metal is the perfect fix for not cutting into the wood . Thanks for a great video.
Thanks for the video. I have 24 of these to cut and you just saved me time and money. Thank you!!
Thats a pretty cool model to make for cutting 4x4s posts
Thanks from Australia! The use of sheet metal on the jig a bloody good idea! I hope my 18v reciprocating saw can handle the load.
This is a very very good idea
Awesome! Great idea! I have to cut already installed posts on a deck to fit new wood. Thank you!
I like how you took your time with the cut. Easy thing to forget. Cool gadget
You know you’re getting old when this is what you watch on CZcams for fun.
Lol
Great jig, came in handy this weekend!!!
Awesome jig! Thank you!!!
Amazing -- very ingenious of you --- thanks a lot for the video.

your right .... great idea how do these armchairs know he might be putting a cap on the them for rain and a type of finish that looks good

If the foot of the reciprocating saw is pushed hard up to the post / jig the saw will not bounce around as much👍
Thats badass! ! Tanks man!
Well done! Thank you for sharing.
😷👍
Great ideal man!! Thanks for sharing
Great job!
Great idea. Thanks for sharing.
Pure gold information I need and within my budget
Thanks! I knew there had to be an easy way.
Very nice and simple tip / Thank you

pretty cool idea!
Thanks. I need to use this technique on a 2x4 half wall for a counter bar top. It isn't level and the cabinets are already in!
Brilliant!
can u use 6 x 6 or 4 x4 to hold up a lean to roof?
Genius!! I'm gonna try this w a few pieces of angle iron! Thanks for the idea

Good job
good vid
Clever idea. Go a step further and slope the jig to promote water run off.
Unless he uses caps on the top.
Excellent
Gracias!🙏
Great idea but seems if saw with saw blade resting on two metal angles maybe make straighter cut? Still great idea I cut them in similar way
Smart
very nicr
That's one way to dull a new blade
push it up flat on the jig
What, you can't cut a straight line? The hole in the post is tacky
Work smarter not harder
That’s for people who can’t get their heights right from start

I see a Patten to this hug. Do you believe certain companies stealing from CZcams's video's?.
Fixture = jig
Thanks, i did finally change it to jig.
eye and ear protection?
Rudolph Gutierrez it's just a sawzall, only pussies wear protection for little jobs like this
Rudolph don’t be a puss
@@jamesphillips1175 little job here . Little job there . 30 year later u cant ear anything

Come on mom...
chainsaw
LOL...and damage everything around the post during the process
Get rid of that crappy porter cable recip. Use a Milwaukee for gods sake.
@Principatus 35 yr Carpenter. You’re way off. They rattle your bones to the core. Last me 2 yrs. An average super sawzall last me 5.
I do it easy with a handsaw. Rubbish idea

That's funny, I've been using it for 18 years and it still works great.
Perhaps I've been unlucky. Burnt out motors on Dewalt and Makita in my younger years.
tools get paid by their self!!
Are you for real?? You need a jig to cut posts???
David Tyler, Don't be a hater. For real
