  • 🔴 5 simple tips to instantly lead engaging worship with confidence. Free audio training "5 Tips To Instantly Improve Your Worship Leading" → leadingworshipwell.com/freeaud...
    In the video, you'll learn 3 word-for-word examples of what you could say at the beginning of your service this Sunday. Of course, I don't recommend just regurgitating a script word-for-word to your congregation when you lead - but you can use these ideas to open your worship service this weekend.
    Ever been confused about what to say at the beginning of your worship service?
    Maybe you just decide to keep it simple and say, "Good morning! Let's stand and sing." Or maybe you don't say anything at all and just head right into the first song.
    Those first few moments as you enter into your worship service are some of the most important for setting the tone for the rest of your service.

    I'm really enjoying all your helpful tips! I am a new worship leader to a very small Church with 2/3 elderly people. The younger people want contemporary service but I'm struggling with the balance between what the younger ones want and what the elderly can handle (for instance standing too long, loud music). Do you have a podcast about how to lead a generational blended Church?

    In my church, one of my Elders opens with a 'call to worship'. It is pretty much the same ideas here with a reading, but it allows us to build the music into the first song. I like it because it's sort of an 'official' opening which leads straight into the music.

    Corporate worship is us coming together and ascribing to one goal to worship God. I do not agree that during worship is about coming together to sing "over each other". It's all about giving God all glory. Yes it is where the redeem draw closer to God so that's the benefit to us...

    • @LeadingWorshipWell
      @LeadingWorshipWell  Před 2 lety +5

      Hey Marcelle! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. This is a conversation I always love to have. I agree with you that our primary goal in corporate worship is to give God all the glory. When I speak of worshipping TOGETHER, I'm talking about the specifics of how God receives glory. Here is a comment I left on another video for someone who had a similar question about the evidence for my understanding of corporate worship:
      Here are a few quick arguments for corporate worship:
      BIBLICAL EVIDENCE
      1 Corinthians 11-14 is probably the most robust passage about corporate worship. Paul outlines a ton of practical instructions for when a church body is gathered together. It is focused on sacrificing our personal desires in worship for the benefit of the church. From tongues to prophecy to order in worship, he sums it up in 1 Corinthians 14:26 when he says, "Everything must be done so that the CHURCH may be built up." (Emphasis on the CHURCH and not the individual believer)
      In addition Colossians 3:16 points to a focus on corporate worship instead of personal worship. Paul tells us to "admonish ONE ANOTHER with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts." We not only sing songs during corporate worship to glorify God but also to encourage each other and point each other to truth.
      ETYLMOLOGICAL EVIDENCE
      I think evidence for corporate worship is also found in the word of "CHURCH." The word EKKLESIA means "a called-out assembly." The church works best when we are assembled together (you can't assemble by yourself). So, when we gather as the church, we should highlight that community.
      LOGICAL EVIDENCE
      The unique benefit of our Sunday morning gatherings as a church is primarily that we are TOGETHER. There are 168 hours in a week. 167 of those hours are spent on our own. 1 of those hours is spent with our collective church. It seems like it would be a waste of that one hour to continue to focus on personal worship and not recognize the unique benefit of the corporate worship gathering.
      A CAVEAT
      This isn't to say that personal worship NEVER happens during corporate worship. For God to transform us collectively, he must first transform us individually. And of course corporate worship and personal worship are not black and white issues - they bleed into one another. However, it seems clear to me that our primary goal in our corporate gatherings is to focus on worshiping TOGETHER instead of individually.
      Thanks for your comment and stimulating this discussion! Keep leading well! 👊

      @marcelleekenion1676 Před 2 lety

      @@LeadingWorshipWell thanks for engaging me in conversation. The scripture from Colossian explains your point well. I fully understand now how encouraging the believer to sing over each other will be applicable in corporate worship. I have never looked at the verse from Colossian as applicable to corporate worship before but it is outright applicable. I leave with this though that the primary goal for corporate worship is to edify and build the church (the called out ones) so that God may forever be glorified! We as worship leaders must have that goal in mind.

      Adding my own voice to others in praise, prayer and communion is a very special privilege. I worship God 95% of the time alone, but Sunday is the ONLY time (apart from some midweek meetings) where I worship Christ with others. I am humbled to be included in his family, but also to minister to each other.

    Can I ask you to expand when you say the only way we have access to God is through Jesus Christ? The reason I say this is that when we have special events, we will prepare by spending at least the week before praying into the event. For example one thing we pray for is consecration, another may be that God’s presence comes down, we may also pray that people will come to know Christ Jesus. Is that to say that these are things we don’t need to do, because we will always have access to God by the blood?

    • @LeadingWorshipWell
      @LeadingWorshipWell  Před měsícem

      When I say the only way we have access to God is through Jesus, I mean to say that that is how we come to the Father. It is not in our own works. It's not in the things that we do. It's not praying a right prayer before worship or spending exactly 2 hours and 33 minutes in prayer before a worship event. Jesus says in John 14:6 "I am the WAY, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
      Praying before we gather with our church is certainly not a bad thing but it does not grant us access to God. Only the work of Jesus on the cross does that because in his death he paid for our sins and tore the dividing veil between us and God.
      I recommend checking out Hebrews 9 (or really the whole book of Hebrews) for a biblical understanding of Jesus providing access to God. Hope that helps!

    I get the need to practice, to rehearse, to learn the songs through and through, but where is the sensitivity to the Holy Spirit to guide you. Be in prayer before you lead, as you choose the songs, what the Lord is laying on yiur heart to speak out formthe edification of the body? What you're going to say?

    • @AugustJ.k.Nilsen

      Completely agree. These tips can be a good layout for those starting out that are still getting comfortable being in that position, and still learning. But it should not be viewed as any more than that, hopefully this will come naturally and just flow.
      Something we (our worship leaders mainly) do very often in our pentecostal church here in norway is we ask the pastor that holds the sermon if there is a theme, and what he is going to talk about. With that information we try to help the theme through the songs we use, atleast where it's doable to some degree. Of course we also bring inputs on songs as a theme, but we always try to also use the worship as an "introduction" to the sermon. very often this allows the pastor to make the transition to worship after the sermon nicely, and also connecting the sermon with the words in the song that we are about to sing.

    The nature of musical worship is that it's inescapably both individual and corporate. I would never try to separate those out. It's confusing. And don't try to explain worship, just do it. Way too much talking being advocated here.
