Gemma Pettersen Her background is in improvisational theatre. Actors from there are dangerous and disciplined.
The podium was made from very soft and light materials. It's like a big foam prop.
Gemma Pettersen I really don't know because she didn't even crack a smile!
Gemma - besides her just being good and professional at what she does, I got the feeling that the character was easy to stay in because it was all anger. She could just throw all her emotion and focus into that anger. Also she's played this type of character before in The Boss. And don't forget, they rehearse.
Watch again: when she does the line, "the President will not be deterred" holding up the turd, she almost loses it. What a pro!
This will never get old - Melissa played this character perfectly!

I don't know if McCarthy appeared in any other sketches on this show, but if she didn't, that may explain how she was able to memorise her script. The SNL schedule is so tight that sketches continue to be rewritten right up until 11:30 on Saturday night. Consequently, performers - especially those in multiple sketches - don't have a chance to memorise their lines. The reason Bill Hader used to always break-up as Stefon (which he covered with his trademark hands-over-the-face) was because he was often seeing the jokes on the cue cards for the first time live on the show.

It's an uncanny resemblance. Someone had a stroke of genius casting her for this. I had to do something like a triple take to believe it was really her. I recognized the voice first, but said 'no way'.
Patrick Rivas she don't look remotely close to Sean spicer or even act that way but it's hilarious. SNL is kind of funny now. Not at the level of Mad Tv but still.
