    With summer in the UK drawing to a close I was overdue one last trip away to the sun. So a week in Greece went down a treat. This was a Thomas Cook flight, operated by leasing company Avion Express. An early departure from Manchester, leaving the grey wet skies of Northern England behind for the sunny Aegean.
    The flight wasn't very busy to my surprise, 106 passengers on an A321 which holds more than 200 made for plenty of space to spread out. A great flight again with Thomas Cook, never had any complaints with them on time and friendly crew.
    FLIGHT DETAILS:
    Operator: Thomas Cook, Avion Express
    Aircraft: Airbus A321-211
    Reg.: LY-VEC
    Seat: 7A
    Engine Type: 2x CFM56-5
    Flight Number: TCX1458
    Date: Sunday 12th September 2018
    Flight Duration: 3 hours 10 mins (approx.)
    Departure Runway: RWY23L
    Arrival Runway: RWY34
    Route: MAN-SKG
    Beautiful approach & landing into Thessaloniki and some brilliant air to air footage during the flight over Europe. Particularly look out for the race with a United 777 which finally passed over the top of us after being in parallel for quite some time.
    Thanks for watching!
    Check out the return flight video, which includes a turbulent approach into Manchester on the day of #StormAli

    Awesome video! I enjoyed the gloomy take off from Manchester, nice wing condensation on rotation, and the approach into SKG was lovely too. Nice United 777 in the cruise too! This was a very enjoyable video

    Yet another unique, high calibre contribution; virtual flying at its best!

    It's funny, but I think I like the CFM engines. They start much more quickly, and although they vibrate just a little lower than the IAE engines, I can hear the higher pitch of the CFM engines. So, I think the CFM engines are a little more powerful. They also may consume more fuel, so it may be why the 321-232 uses the AIE engines.

    Lovely buzz saw sound on takeoff and during the cruise. Gets me excited every time. Unfortunately this sound doesnt exist on the awful CFM Leap engines on the NEO.

    • @richygambs321
      @richygambs321 Před 5 lety

      Interesting point, but on the CFM Leap 56, the buzz saw has been replaced by an high pitched neaseating 'whine', you can hear it on all other videos of the Neo on takeoff in front of the engine, right from gear up onwards. It's sickening. Replaced one noise by another. Id rather have the buzz saw.

    Hey there. My birthday was Thursday, September 13th when I turned 54. So sorry, because the following Sunday would have been September the 16th which puts the following Sunday at the 23rd. It must have felt like a Sunday to you when you went to Greece and when you came home? It's especially tough when you have to go straight to work the next day. Isn't it?

    Is it normal at about 10:02 for the engine to sound like it's slowing down?

    • @TrainPlaneHub
      @TrainPlaneHub  Před 5 lety +2

      Yeah. A reduction in power after take off is normal. Once they're off the ground they don't need as much power as they do to get off the ground if that makes sense.

      @heatherstub Před 5 lety

      They are so close, but the rpms are a little faster with the aie engines. The high-pitched sound is about 5 notes higher with the CFM engines, and the lower vibration or rpms are are just about 2 notes lower. If you try to play both at the same time, you'll be able to tell the difference.
