England neither scored, nor took any points from teams higher ranked than 10 during the tournament. Sweden, besides kicking out double champions and world No 1 US, played a better game against Spain, where they were able to score and come back late - and above all, will most probably be new No 1 in the world after the world cup at upcoming FIFA-ranking. So, UEFA Nations League seems to begin in Gothenburg Sep 22nd btw reigning world champions & highest ranked team in the world. What a clash! England probably will be new No 2 at FIFA-ranking, but we'll have to wait and see.

Their dirty attacks on opposition players, stole time from the match they needed if they were to win. They should have received many more yellow cards. Hello Alexi. You got your wish.
I think that the WSL may be encouraged to spend even more money, now that England still have not won.
Some of the England team play in other European countries too, but big clubs are likely to recruit ready made players to get ahead, from what you saw down under.
I watched Barcelona women on DAZN all last season and some of the lesser teams were not at WSL standard, which was compensated for by the Champions League games they played and won.
There were times when the two English players, Walsh and Bronze were obviously absent or conspicuous in getting the team to a win.
Ona Batlle played for Man Utd, but is returning to play for Barcelona. I wonder how many more will follow this path to WSL?
It is not easy in the English and I suspect US style of play to get talented kids to senior level, as they would get battered by their opponents. For an example see DW Kick Off channel video about fair play.
As for English being spoken in Spain, note that there are 1 million British living there. One Spanish women's team has a GK from here in Yorkshire, but who has grown up there, her family having settled in Spain.
Many from UK holiday there, but many others visit family there too.
Anyone feeling the loss of their team not winning should go watch "Ripping Yarns" episode "Golden Gordon" and have a good laugh.

This completion is all about nation vs nation, meaning Spain vs. England, put aside the petty club fanaticism, and nationalistic ideology aside. The continuous reference to FC Barcelona members of the squad in some comments is getting old, as if the other non Barcelona teammates contributions don't have merit. I'll have to remind you Olga Carmona gave them the Semi Final triumph over Sweden, and scored the winning goal in the final.

Congrats to Spain, definitely deserve to win this match. I do want to mention that they lost to Japan 4-0 and had I fully understood that 86'+ goal in the Swedish game that wasn't then I would whole heartedly believe that Spain was the best team in the tournament. However, there seems to be a collective amnesia about how badly they lost to Japan, and for that I am sad that Japan lost to Sweden, when I don't think that game was officiated properly. Having said that it would have been great to see Japan and Spain in the final. Props to England, and the host countries for their well played games. Cheers!

Vamos Spain though incredible job and I can’t wait to see th mark they leave on the game. And the success they form. Because they fully deserve it. And all the countries must feel so proud about the new standards there teams have shown in this tournament. Because even in just 4 years the game has come on leaps and bounds.
I think the USWNT will sadly fall behind. Unless they invest in there league and player development in club football more than they do there national team. I think they feel that national team investment will equate to national team success. But it’s the other way around the more competitive the standards are at your club and league which is where players spend there time. The better your national team will do. Spain would be nowhere near as successful as they r if it wasn’t for Barcelona.
However I’m confident that Europe specifically will catch up. They know how to make successful players and top champions league clubs based on how they do in the men’s Champions league just as much as Barcelona. And I reckon they won’t let Barcelona dominate much longer. So even if
It takes a world cups. I think Europe should feel pretty optimistic.

I don’t get why Alexi hates England so much. The women’s team haven’t dominated the world game like the USA & have only won one major tournament. England are a team on the up. What’s wrong with that 🤷🏻‍♂️ Why is Spanish dominance of women’s football preferable to English dominance or US dominance for that matter? I think one nation dominating the sport is a bad thing. I’m glad the USA’s period dominance appears to be over. I think it’s healthier for the sport if every nation can raise their game making international fixtures much more competitive, open & entertaining. The logic that English teams will only plow more money into the WSL if England win the World Cup seems very flawed. The big English clubs are money machines & many of them aren’t even British owned. Women’s football is growing fast & so of course they’ll invest heavily in the sport regardless of a World Cup win. Making money from football is their business. I think Alexi just loves to hate England whatever they do. & Since the men’s team only won the World Cup once in 1966, really what’s to hate?

It's hard to play that style of play, it requires time, patience and players that commit to that style. To beat this Spain team is going to be hard going forward; it will require faster and stronger players plus accuracy in front of goal or counter-attacking teams like Japan.

The US has relied on college soccer the be the top soccer nation in the world. That was a big advantage in relation to the rest of the world.
Now that women’s soccer has gotten more important in the world, this reliance on college soccer is becoming a handicap. Spain just became world champions with a lot of young players still within college age.
If the US wants to keep fighting for top spots at international competitions, first you have to define your style of play, and second you have to start relying much more on academies system and early professionalization of teen players.
