Messi's most underrated skillset is not his scoring, assists, free kicks, dribbles or vision. To me it's the way he plays too many positions. He's everywhere! His attack orchestration begins before he is in the other half of the pitch. He draws defenders onto him and swallows the distance in no time so much so that before the other team knows what's going on, it's too late!!

The coach of Argentina made big mistake in final match. He had to make changes after 75 minutes,Minimum 3 changes. Because they did not let play 80 minutes Franch team at all and Argentinians were tired. The team needed refresh. And if u take Demaria from the game , u must put Dibala because they needed ball control only 10 minutes. Mistake like this made Pekerman against Germany when he took Rikelme and put Cambiaso. And Messi was setting on the banch.

Yes but Dibala didn't start in any of the games for argentina in the world cup he barely played few minutes so scaloni wasn't sure if he would play like messi or play like Martinez weather he be calm and collected or the pressure would get to him but he did put him in the last minutes of the extra time specifically for the Penalties and before the shoot out he did made a challenge to clear the ball away which mbappe would have scored.

They made 4 changes and after 80 minutes it was visible on Argentinian players. Minimum 3 players had to be changed after 75 minutes. Argentina is not defence team. Such team must control the ball , not to sit in defence. They are not Italy.

Nvm that Messi left argentina, because no argentinian club wanted to pay the 1200$/month for his hormone therapy. Barca saw his potential and took the bet. Its hard to blame Messi for this move and now say that he didn't earned his merits in argentina. They brought that up on themselves.

The irony is that De Champs was largely responsible for losing this final. Had he put the team on the pitch from the beginning that he ended up with, this may have been a very different outcome. The young black players revitalized the team and provided Mbappe with some ball. Until that moment, Griezmann had done nothing. Giroud did nothing. Dembelé not only did nothing but really blew it with that penalty. Koundé was floundering against Di María and couldn't stop him even with the help of Rabiot. As Keane says, all this is much credit to Argentina and Scaloni, who neutralized France for 80 minutes. Having said that, Scaloni made a couple of mistakes that could've cost him the match. He pulled out Di María too early, and then he took too long to provide fresh legs when the black French players were flying and some of his midfielders were exhausted.

@@sagarthegreatable Yes, Argentina were just too good. I should know. I'm Argentinean. But I try to be objective. If France was outplayed during 80 minutes, and after making some changes, managed to tie it twice, it's because the initial line up and tactic was flawed. Yes, he corrected it after an hour had gone by and he was 2 goals down, and Scaloni was slow to react. Great game. One of the best I've ever seen in a WC.

Same issue against Holland with subs being made too late by Scaloni. Argentina dominated that midfield with de Paul, Mac Allister and Enzo. There are a few European players that also deserve love. Puskas, Cruyff and Platini come to mind right away, but there are plenty. But I would place them below the top 3, and leave the order for the world to do. I am glad that I have watched since the early 80s, which I believe to be the start of the era when clubs were trully to provide players the respect to earn and work towards their true potential. When I hear about how players were treated back in the old days, it is a miracle that so many south americans were able to make it beyond their local clubs. Players like Garrincha would be gods today.
