Just finished this movie and I am extremely impressed with it. As a man living with HIV in the now, it really puts things into perspective of how lucky I am to have the medication that is available now for this disease. I can’t imagine living with this in a time where your government wanted nothing to do w you and constantly struggling w fear and death. It is still not easy and we should continue to fight this disease and spread awareness till it is out of our lives. I commend those who fought for their lives and the lives others. In a way they have saved my life and for that I am eternally grateful.
Same situation for me. And I feel so grateful for those guys who fought for themselves but for us, as well. I think about all ot them as brothers of mine. They were heroes, the dead ones and the ones who are still here.
It is good that it is talking about HIV and AIDS and sexual orientation. All things most people find difficult to talk about. Good film!
This movie just leaves you profoundly uncomfortable. Brutally honest, but an ode of love to life. A human triumph. Movies like this one only are made once in a century.

Thinking about the AIDS crisis in america always gets me really upset. Thousands were dying and the government did nothing. I never thought about AIDS in other countries, this really opened my eyes.
Only_Hazel Yes, the AIDS crisis was really hard in France too. One thing in particular is "l'affaire du sang contaminé" (the case of contaminated blood), where the government let infected blood be used in hospital, so a lot of very young children got AIDS while they were being treated for something else.
I recommend this movie to everyone, it really is THE movie of 2017 for me.
‘the normal heart’ and this movie, as well as the documentary ‘how to survive a plague’ really opened my eyes to the horrors of the 80s and 90s, the devastation, the lack of sympathy, the inaction from leaders. it’s all so upsetting, enough to keep you up at night.
