@@featrmedia i'am Proud tausug tribe here. TIYULA ITUM 😋. You will try PIYANGANG MANOK SUPER DELICIOUS my friend.😋
Finally! Some Filipino food other than Kapampangan or Tagalog Food. Southern Filipino food is honestly top tier.
Southern Filipino dishes are so underrated.
Proud Tausug here...Tiyula Itum is one of our best dishes...Thank you very much Sir Erwan for featuring this! Maybe you can try Piyanggang Manok? It also originates from the Tausug people of Sulu. :)
Pyanggang manuk, tiyula itum and Beef kulma the best! 💯
Bat wala syang langkawas? (Dont know how its called in tausug) but its what we call here in panay
@@markv1974 it's translated to galangal (in the recipe description it has it as an (optional) ingredient
He had an episode 2 years ago with someone cooking it
Tausog here ! Wow 😍 soo proud you cooked our native tyulah itum. Thankyou erwan 😍
Whenever I say we put burnt coconut in this dish, my nonlocal friends always respond with “What? Eww that’s weird”. I’m telling you guys, this dish is so unique I can’t even begin on how to describe its taste. All I can say is that it taste like home. Thank you for featuring this dish, Erwan!
Anyways, nangitap ako yan. Magiyan ako. 😭
glad you liked it!
One of my favorites, missing home 🙄
sarap da kuman pag ubus malara pa. 🤤
I'm a Tausug and I'm so proud that "Tiyula Itum" has been featured in your channel ❤️ thanks!
Basta, maingat pakarayau boy² Yan mag tiula itum 👏👏👍 mag pananap in lawai ta umatud.
@@jawadil1118 amona toh HAHAHA
We usually add some galanggal roots, which we call “langkuas” in Tausug, and lemon grass in our marinate.
Hope you could visit the Sulu islands in the future! There are many beautiful places to see, great cuisine to eat, and beautiful culture to experience in the Sulu Islands. Hopefully, after this pandemic, insha Allah.
It's "langkawas" in Tagalog and Bisaya. It's rare nowadays, but my Mom still uses langkawas sometimes in ginataan dishes in place of ginger.
Bunnal tuud. Loveeet. As soon as this nightmare is over, please do visit Jolo, Erwan.
In Sha Allah!
@@AngryKittensI can't find langkawas here in Manila. Maybe I should ask around ethnic stores if they have them.
@@TaLeng2023 I don't think they're commercially grown in the Philippines. They're usually only grown small-scale and are only still used in the southern regions (Bicol, parts of the Visayas, Mindanao). They're an ingredient in the Western Visayan spiced vinegar (sinamak) for example. Elsewhere, they seem to have been forgotten.
I am from Mindanao (though not in Bangsamoro), so we have langkawas in the local markets which are also used in Lumad cooking.
You might have a better chance of finding it in imported spice stores. The name they are known more commonly in English is "galangal ginger".
Alhamdulillah! Proud tausug here from Zamboanga City, Mindanao! We are very proud that you acknowledged our Famous dish! Its one of my favorite 💯

This is why I 🧡 Erwan. Brave soul sya to discover Mindanao 😍 Hindi sya pure pinoy ah pero damn mas maalam pa sya sa culture and food kaysa sating pure. Ngayon ko lang alam na may beef version. The one i tried was lamb meat.
I really love it when you share menu items in other regions of the Philippines. Aside from documenting our food culture, somehow I feel like I can "travel" down south by recreating this especially now during pandemic when we cant travel.
Thanks for sharing this recipe. I will definitely "travel" this upcoming holiday weekend! 🙏

I rarely travelled around the Philippines. But after being in America for 4 years and realizing I've travelled more places here than in our country, made me want to travel the Philippines. Zamboanga is definitely one of the places on my bucket list. Oh man. I can't wait to go home soon! Hopefully by the time I graduate in May, travel bans would have lifted already and I can come home! :D I miss you Philippines!
