- Ghana vs Uruguay in the 2010 World Cup is right up there among the saddest moments in world cup history from a neutral's POV.
Carrying the hopes of an entire continent on home soil (South Africa), Ghana were eliminated by Uruguay on penalties in South Africa, having seen Asamoah Gyan miss an extra-time spot-kick after Luis Suarez was sent off for handball. Had Gyan scored that penalty, Ghana would have been the first African nation to reach a world cup semi-final--a would-have-been achievement for the history books.
They meet again this winter in Qatar World Cup 2022. "We believe that it will be revenge time," Ghana FA president Kurt Okraku told BBC Sport Africa in 2022.

it’s just that Suarez sacrificed himself for his team. That’s what every footballers do, Suarez got a red card as a punishment and Ghana got a penalty. Gyan missed the penalty and all the blame goes to Suarez, this is so fucked up.

Actually if you think about it, Ghana's early goal and get stopped by Suarez's hand should unspotabble, i mean football prohibits strongly using hand. That's what football is, Suarez should get heavier punishment of 'cheating' like that.
On the other hand, by giving penalty, Ghana 'potentially' had less chance of winning eventhough they should already goal (if not get cheated by Suarez) and won
