Hey dog I just wanted you to know I appreciate you and really enjoy your content. I'm hella thankful you continued to upload videos even tho you didn't originally intend too. It sounds dramatic but these vids have help me with more than just making my Strive Gears Guilty. Don't stop making videos.
Amazing Lab guide! I have put 120 hours into Zato-1 as my first main, but I only practice through ranked, you really inspire me to put some work into training mode today :)
Thank you so much for this! I frequently get intimidated by training mode, so I end up just practicing combos. This gives me a structured process I can refer back to every time I get anxious over trying to improve. Now all I need is to know what I want to improve and follow a few simple steps.
sol player here- it's extremely telling that he's the ideal training partner because of his extreme wealth of fun toys lmao. boy has mad options and anyone who says otherwise is lying
I've wanted to get in depth with a fighter for awhile now. I've tried quite a few in the past few years, but didn't find one that ticked what I wanted. Strive is the first fighter since Genesis MK that check the boxes. I've done arcade and training/mission but no online yet. This video I believe showed the piece I needed to get to a comfortable mind set to go online. Appreciate it
Been subbed and watchin your vids for a min baccpack. Great content and a very nice guide you got here. I really needed this myself because I struggle on labbing my own problems. Your thoughts and ideas were spoken clearly! I notice and appreciate all the hard work you're doing making these vids. Keep it up buddy!
This was a great video. As an Axl player I have to lab against speedy mix characters like Chip and Milia but I don’t even know where to start because my mind doesn’t have the capacity for mix creativity. Can anyone help
Lol I had the same problem. But the qya I do it now is, while I'm online I mimic the same block strings and combos they used that I had trouble with, in the training room.
I wish combo mode had a "counterplay" section. We already have the "setplay" section... why not both? Tekken did alright with counter hit tutorials... We could just have people upload defense situations too... Like let me practice getting out of millia H-Disc setups, let me practice how to deal with eddie in the zato matchup, idk, let me practice playing defense around testament bird or happy chaos orb toss situations.... I literally can think of hundreds of these... wouldnt that be cool?! People could just upload a blockstring they recorded and YOU have to find a way out of it?
I have a dilemma. I love fighting games. I do take them semi-seriously. I know I have to lab and I definitely do. Unfortunately, I hate labbing. I find it so boring. I do most of my learning through watching videos from ppl that one trick characters I wanna learn. Or videos like this that show you "how to lab". Left to my own devices I'm just an unfocused mess. I do however like "sparring". I just wish I had regulars to play with.
Watching other people and taking their stuff is a really good way to find stuff to lab out yourself. I like to watch streams, clip something I want to try myself, and attempt to replicate it in training mode.
The video for sure goes too fast to be helpful to beginners, it's a little condescending for everyone else too. But labbing is all about putting these attacks into muscle memory so when a situation happens in a match, you're ready for it. But if you're (anyone watching this) is new I don't think they would recognize something like a frame trap even if it hit them in the face and cost a game. Mission mode in this game breaks down a bunch of these, and it's better to use as a reference to learn all the technical applications piece by piece.
@@TheBomber619 Yeah, I didn't mean what I said in a bad way at all. I understand that this video is aimed at people that are more advanced than me and that's totally fine. I'm still at the point where just trying to execute a "basic" BnB combo is a bit of a hurdle. So I know that working on that and just having fun playing the game is what I should be doing to improve. Still a good video to watch again in the future.
I had to keep things moving so it wasn’t a 40 minute video. I was trying to be clear and concise but maybe the pace was just way too fast for newer players which kind of sucks because I wanted it to this to be FOR newer and mid level players.
@@SchwingyGaming you are on the right track. At your level, just establishing your habits (whether they are good or bad) is important imo. Just keep getting familiar with the game. Get your own personal flowchart going. Once you don't get flustered by basic bnbs/movement/defensive options, you can start finding out which habits of yours need to be worked on and which are good. Everyone has bad habits lol. It's just a matter of identifying them and snuffing them out over time. I would also say don't be ashamed to repeat the same combo in matches ad nauseam. Until they become second nature. Also, don't mind losing. It's fine. We all lose. It's part of the process.

This is such a lovely video. I'm definitely forwarding this to the newbie cohort in my local friend scene. Thank you!
great informative video! even though i dont even think about picking gold lewis up at all still the examples are appliable to most characters.
Yeah, Goldlewis was just an example. You should be able to replicate this with any character.

Hmu on psn man, RoyalMrDirt. My schedule is a little shaky because I'm in the army but I'm always down to learn and run sets
5 minutes in and things are already getting too complicated for me lol
your mind is more powerful than you think. keep at it
