In this video I assist Patrick Reynolds installing several vintage factory lights on my front and back porch. Patrick had been at electrical work for 30 years and worked at the World Trade Center on the first 25 floors built out in the freedom tower he knows his S#*%THANK YOU!
When I originally got the lights

Don’t be fooled by the imposter bot. Doing my best to delete all of them.
Thanks Jimmy! Love your creativity.
Thank you, sir! Seems like zyouTibe changed a setting recently that makes the bots easier to spot…the whole phone number no longer appears in the username.
I report as many of them as I can.
The author does like to czcams.com/users/postUgkxkNYRBJuiJ6EwD-tQSAlxg0eFKsnR2cgz from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.
Patricks work is art. Sadly most of it is hidden never to be seen again. Thanks Jimmy for documenting his work.
“Done is better than perfect.” Words to live by.
👍👍👍
Great saying for the next poster ….
Preach brother 👏👏
I love how you'd done all these updates, yet it still has this feel of it being original. It all just fits.
Jim you are definitely a wonderful steward for this house, it's still amazes me that Patrick's relatives once owned this house and the "universe" brought you guys together such a wonderful friendship. 👊🏻👊🏻❤❤
This is what passion for preservation looks like. Well done.
The porch lights look great Jimmy!! Watching Patrick's install was quite the treat. Being a Hoosier, it makes me smile seeing some artifacts from here being reused on your home.
I remember when that site was decommissioned and have known a few former employees. The original video was a treat, this is icing on the cake knowing it gets to live on.
It’s good to have such an expert like Patrick around! The porch really highlights the house and gives it that country look.
Goes so beautiful with the farmhouse
Great work
There are so many gems in this video. Patrick is a such a source of experience! What an invaluable friend to have!
It's been really enjoyable to see the transformation of this farm house. Thanks for including us.
Very smart and very experienced.. love watching a tradesman work and teach at the same time. Porch looks great, thanks for sharing!
The best part of this project aside from the expert electrician, is that you found these lamps and recycled them. Way too many things, especially industrial items are trashed. Here you have given new life to old lamps and saved the planet at the same time. Thanks Jimmy for your creativity, you are a true master craftsman.
Great job Patrick! Make sure to have him back on Jimmy.
The electrical tape to hold the screw...how did I live this long and never see that before? 😂 So many exciting things happening between your projects and Maker Camp developments. Nice work guys!
Looks great love it. 👍👍👍
This was very enjoyable! Patrick is an artist and you were the right person to buy that house.
Those lights really make the house look incredible. It’s amazing how good lighting can change and improve the look of things.
I have always loved the farmhouse wrap around porch look (I grew up in the 1950's - 1970's country lifestyle). Your house is looking so great and classic. The work you did on the porch and the lighting you and your electrician provided is dead nuts on.
I love that everything in your home has a unique and interesting story! The porch looks so welcoming now!
As a retired electrician, Patrick did a Wonderful job.
2 of my favorite dudes, on one CZcams video together!
👍👍👍👍👍 wish I had a skilled electrician at my disposal 😊
Beautiful work Jimmy & Patrick! Those light fixtures are amazing & the way they were wired and installed is right on point! 👍👍💡💡💡💡👍👍
Cool video. I like the lights backstory. And thank you for sharing your home builds with us!
Really have enjoyed watching the homestead projects and this is no exception. You can paint the work you ended up adding to the outside (to avoid fishing through the rooms/walls, etc) and it wouldn't even be noticeable. Another great video and information! Thank YOU!
Great explanation of pipe bending and layout. Patrick was impressive.
Beautiful! Nicely drawn cables, LED lights, all lamps aligned, no complaints :)
Great job guys!!! I can't wait to see it in person! Patrick is a solid dude and does excellent work!!!
You inspired me to build a porch on the back of my house. In the process I have to rework the roof pitch of an extension that was put on in the 1960's. Making it all blend in and look nice has been a challenge. 1830's building technigues meet 1960's technigues meets 2020s is a wild blend. LOL I think I would have pryed some of your clapboards off and run the wires in the walls. It provides opportunity to cram some insulation in there as well as I imagine it is probably thin in that area as most homes that age at most have some blown in insulation which mostly settles and disappears over time and you wind up with bunches of voids.
Great to see two master craftsmen working together!
Looks amazing! And so great to have smart friends!
Wow!! So gratifying to watch Patrick's work and the final result is incredible. At 15:43 I thought he was going to dismount that ladder and plank backwards off the porch, but he anchored himself with lightning speed! 😅 As always watching any Diresta video I learned a lot. My 2 takeaway lessons from this video:
*Done is better than perfect
*4 inches is enough for a small box.
THIS IS AN EXCELLENT BIT OF WORK EXPERIENCE EVEN JIMMY LEARNING SOMETHING ELSE.
Patrick makes bending pipe look easy. Absolutely beautiful result Jimmy. Kudos for rescuing and repurposing those fabulous vintage fixtures. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the inside of the house.
Dude you really have made a fantastic job of the house. It looks so much better, like a beautiful home. You should definitely be proud of what you and your team have accomplished
I really like the ambiance the lights give. I love the Bulb choice of the, to me, traditional yellow glow of an Edison glow. I splurged when I did my deck in '17 and my office in '20 with an actual barn light that could take a 200w bulb with a 24" gooseneck extension. I would have loved to have found a decently priced salvaged fixtures like you from all the textile mills I had in my area but they all were priced as new or higher. The overall ascetic of your house is really nice and what you have done keeps with that feel! keep up the good work!!!
Patrick did an amazing job, as usual. The house is really coming together!
17:55 I remember these lights from your bomb factory trip, absolutely superb you're making use of them!
21:50 Wesley Treat spotted in the wild! And thanks for some great tips on lighting!
It’s great to see those beautiful salvaged fixtures put to use! I always learn something from watching Patrick work.
Those are beautiful old lights!
Done is better than perfect...loved that
Beautiful man. Congrats. God Bless and Merry Christmas to you and yours.
It looks beautiful. So interesting watching Patrick work.
Nothing like seeing real experts on the tube.
That is an awesome upgrade for sure. Nice work guys.
Awesome Jimmy!!
Amazing work Jimmy! You made it look easy Patrick!
Reminds me of a live Vlog Jimmy. All that knowledge and skill from Patrick made this a great watch. You have added a beautiful look and function to your home and It looks awesome. Thank you for sharing. As always, Love and Respect from North London UK.
Amazing transformation and got to see it all lit up. Great work Patrick & Jimmy 🙌
A hug Jimmy !
Wow... looks awesome 👍
Hi @Jimmy !Patrick did a good job there!Thank you for showing jimmy!Greeting Bulat the Blacksmith from germany 😊🤙
Looks great!
great job. fun to watch!
Gorgeous
Great video. Nice seeing Patrick using his tools. Can see the experience when doing something simple like a wire nut splice. Can always spot a novice from a pro in how they use their tools. Learned a lot. Mahalo for sharing. That porch is gorgeous. 🙂🤙
Patrick is a knowledgeable sparkey, thanks for the experience🤗😎🤗😎
Looks wonderful... well done 👏
THATS THE WAY TOO DO IT WE NEED MORE TRADESMEN THEY GET PAID A LOT HONESTLY 💯.
Wow, love the lights. My parents worked and met at that plant. Thank you for including the link on when you collected the lights. It was great to see and remember the stories they use to tell about working there on the line.
Cool looking fixtures installed by two cool dudes! Thanks for all the fishing techniques Patrick . I'll definitely put them to use
Looks amazing
Great job. The house looks fantastic.
I've been to the Jefferson Ammunition Plant. Cool place and kind of scary if you think of all the stuff that was still there in 1999. Glad you got a little of the history of the place, Jimmy. It was neat to see the place and all the real history there.
Love that you have this electrical video with pro tips in it.
The lights complete the porch. Honestly, it would've looked quite sad without some proper vintage lights, so chef's kiss on that one. I love it when someone DIYs something, when they finish the job with the detail that binds all the elements together, because it's their vision and they did it. A lot of times when the job's farmed... the end result is not quite consistent, all over the place, and as you have noticed and noted, sometimes not even good enough for government work. Hence why you did it yourself.
It's got to look on purpose, intentional, there for a reason, pleasing to the eye. That's what makes it art. 😁
This is awesome.
Most Reliable Wiring
Now, it almost needs lights on the top part of the house. Maybe some downlighting that highlights areas between the windows. It looks SO great!
Good choice to have the piping outside the wall.
Very nice, lamps fits perfectly with the house and porch. Well done Mr 👍🏻🔥
The EMT installation reminded me of my days of bending and installation of miles and miles of it, 1/2" up to 4" for buildings about 50 miles north of where you got those fixtures.
Really looks great! Awesome reuse of the fixtures
Looks amazing and having the lights with story’s is even better.
#AWESOME Looks great! I love those lights. Have restored quite a few of them, just the regular ones though, not the explosion proof ones.
Hard to find a good electrician who is a problem solver these days. You've got a real gem there.
Sweet lighting!
Awesome repurpose of those BOMB lights. They cleaned up so good.
So now everyone can refer to Jimmy as Jimmy the bomb!
Looks awesome man
awesome video! love seeing things like this. nice little story!
Sometimes “good enough “ is fine. Chasing perfection can break you.
I used to maintain this historical home in navasota Texas called the warlock house really incredible your porch slats remind me of the house but these were painted a blue color and was absolutely spectacular
I remember when you picked up these light fixtures and how cool it was to see them salvaged. It's great to see them finally come into play in such a nice way. Of course Patrick did a great job and I learned a few little tips about bending EMT. I have the tools but I always struggle with the calculations and wind up leaving everything long and then cutting it to fit, which is not ideal! The old lights really look like a huge upgrade in ambiance... and on that note, you gotta do me a favor and match the 2 bulbs on the fan to the rest of them, that color temp difference is killing me.🤣
New Diresta with talking, like it!!
I love that lamp style! Looks great Jimmy! 👍
I am still amazed by the madness of North American electrical systems.
Nice results nonetheless
Another killer video! love the instagram sneak peaks.
I can even remember the video from the factory when you cut the lamps off with your battery driven angle grinder. And you finally use them 😊😊😊
Very different to the style of electrical installation I do here in Germany but its fantastic to see a guy who loves his job and is delivering great work.
25:40 'Echo and the Bunnymen' ... perfect
The whole vid ... perfecter
Seeing a master electrician at work and his commentary ... perfecterer
That porch sure does look lovelier each vid, nice.
Lights look great
Best christmas lights ever :)
6:16 "it will catch..its definitely going to catch. "
7:01 "we decided to stop playing games and rip down a board."
lmao
It Looks Great
Thank you!
Very homey looking. Love the whole porch thing. I have an 8'X30' porch on the front of my house. I wish it wrapped around the house.
