Thank you so very much for the kind words! The more I do things, the more I try to be light hearted, and it’s getting easier to develop the style that I want to employ in my videos! 😁

So happy to see this moving forward. You are making me want to build an SD40-2 in 1" scale. 😅

Hey man. As a metal worker. To make cleaning up ur rust and the welds. Use cup twisted metal wire wheels on an angle grinder. Ull get 98% of it perfect the corners use a solid brass round bit for a drill and push it in there luke ur drilling it out and it will clean all that weld and over spray up

Thank you very much for taking the time to give some advice on this matter. I have learned so much that I never thought I could ever do when it comes to metalworking, and though I’ve had a great deal of help, all the advice and help gives me the confidence to say that I could possibly start another one of these in the distant future, of course, lol!

Eric, I'm watching you over here in the UK and I have to note that your home facilities are simply amazing by our standards. Your garage is the same size as my entire house AND backyard together.....TBH, I'm wondering why you don't build it in 1.5" to the foot, the Good Lord knows you have plenty of space!

Well, a very warm welcome to my channel, and I’m truly glad that you are enjoying the series. To answer your question, I’m primarily building in 1 inch scale because I have a club about 25 minutes from my house. The other reason is that 1” scale is much lighter than building it and 1.5 inch scale.
As far as shop facilities, go, my garage is full of so much stuff that I need to get rid of. Between having to move belongings from my late parents, and doing a kitchen remodel a few years ago, I have yet to get rid of so much stuff. Much of my work is either done in the driveway or on my front porch.

Well, I live about a twenty minute drive from the largest 5" gauge track in UK, although I don't have anything in that gauge - equates to your 1" scale. I've always thought that the American ME dogma of using simple measurements was more sensible than those we use here. Especially in the larger scales like 1.5" to the foot = 1/8th scale.

My Lord, what gauge steel did you use for the deck? That’s gonna be a heavy 1” scale loco!
How are you powering the beast?
