  • Our Navien NR-240 tankless water heater showed a 045 error code shortly before the mixing valve began to leak. In this video, we'll walk through removing and replacing this mixing valve with a new one. The new valve (part no. 30004837B) can be ordered through suppliesdepot.com and takes just a few minutes to install with only a screwdriver.
    There are some sharp edges in there so be careful!

    Thanks for the video mixing valve was bad, 13 year old navien coded. Replaced part, still a tiny leak. If this happens to anyone else, replace the o-ring on side of leak. Have a few handy b/c I sprung a totally different leak down the line. No more leaks after replacing mixing valve & 2 orings. No more knocking noise either. Win win! Thanks again for your detailed video very helpful.

    Really appreciate the video. Had same issue. Slow leak from this module for years, based upon the rusting I found on screws and body. Instead of hundreds of bucks to hire a pro, spent 70 total incl shipping and replaced mine. Super easy and this video made it easier.

    Thank you for this video. I just replaced mine and my Navien has the mixing valve behind the electronics panel. A little more work to get into the tiny space, yet this video was perfect for giving me the insights and some tips to get it done easily and efficiently.

    Excellent demo! One handed master plumber. Thanks for making this. My valve sprung a leak at the Solenoid.

    Thank you for walking us through the repair process. It is very useful. My model is NR-180 N G. Could you please be advised which valve I should order for replacement? Thanks.

    Mine was dripping and I had seen an error code once. Your video was perfect for changing the valve. I have another issue where there is vibrations that is causing a humming/groaning from my pipes whenever the hotwater is running. I was hoping that replacing this mixing value would also address the vibration that is causing this humming/groaning (this is a relatively new phenomenon). But after replacing the valve, the humming/groaning continues. Any thoughts with a possible source/cause of this vibration? My unit is about 12 years old and other than this mixing valve has not had any other problems.

    Thanks for this. I have the same unit and was seeing the same error. I replaced the valve but mine is still showing the same error code. Ugh. :(

    Thanks for the video, did you need to turn off the gas line going into the water heater to work on it?

      I don't believe I did here but I would recommend doing so.

      It can be adjusted using the control panel. You can see mine at 0:23.
      Check your owners manual

    How did you determine that the mixing valve was leaking? And where was it leaking to?

    • @jianvern
      @jianvern Před 4 lety

      Mine was obviously leaking from the Bypass Mixing Valve, and the water went down the wiring and out the bottom of the Water Heater onto the ground.

      Same as Jian. The seam in the plastic casing of the valve was slightly leaking a small amount of water to the bottom of the unit.

      Mine too. Slow leak for quite a while. Found some rusting screws at bottom of case so this was there for a while. Dried it all and had to check it several times with flashlight and finally saw it was leaking from the black casing on this module. Appeared like a drop of water hanging from the seam. Seems like many of us have this problem at about 10-15 years into ownership.
