    Awesome job especially one handed in that small space standing in water! I live in the northeast and have natural gas service. I currently heat the house with a wood stove and have a direct vent domestic hot water heater. I am looking to install a high efficiency boiler for at least the home heating baseboard that I am going to install. I like the idea of a combi boiler. Do you have any advice for a new installation regarding what brand? My house is approximately 1500 square feet of livable space (2 floors not including the basement which will not be heated)

    Best info I give everyone is if you need to change that 3 way valve
    What I do is disassemble the new valve
    And memorize the order
    Then remove just the guts from old valve
    It saves soo much time
    I’ve done many times
    And only takes about 1/2 hr
    And another 1/2 hr testing operation when your done
    Just a little trick of the trade that not too many guys know you can do!
    But be careful and use United technologies leak lubricant they use on threads and flares and o rings 👍🏻

    thanks for the video. I have the exact same model and the space heating died on me, but I had hot water. no error codes tho. I took out the strainer to the space heating side to clean out and it was full of crap. once I put it back in I started to hear a suction noise maybe from the 3 way valve? anyway once the DHW triggered to turn on the burner I got a e205 error and the Temperature rose above 200. no DHW now. you think it's the 3 way valve that just completely died out on me?

    How much does this valve replacement cost? My service company quoted $1800.00 for this repair. How long should the repair take by a qualified technician? I know the part is $50
    so I cant see how I should be paying so much for labor. Great video. Also, Im considering cutting a 6" square on the left rear side of the cabinet. This should make it possible to replace valve without taking out the circuit board and pump. Thoughts?

    Navien's are a nightmare. I worked on my first one about 2 months ago. It was giving a high pressure water fault code. I flushed the hell out of it. Got a bunch of crud out of it. Got the code to stop and got it working. Never maintained, in a apartment complex. Used to do their hot water and heating in a fan coil unit per apartment. I quoted them on replacing it. Funny thing, there was another hvac contractor there working on other units there. He was complaining about them to me. He replaced the control board and water pressure sensor in the unit I was working on. Oh, well. I didn't have to go back there. The property management company there likes our company. I have 8 A/C units to repair for them at another site next week starting 5-22 2017.

    • @786otto
      @786otto Před 5 lety +1

      Those are great and definitely worth it but not for all installations, those boilers are designed to work for 10 years + without a problem on a residential installation. Problems you hear about is caused by improper installation or boilers being used in a commercial install where they are heavily used and abused, what causes parts to wear out faster.

    Most of the times with these pieces of shit the best way to fill it up when ur done working on it is to very slowly open the valves. That will gradually increase pressure instead of busting all that water in all at once. Works every time. O rings for water piping is the worst idea in the history of this trade. Same goes for flare connections for high pressure refrigerant. They suck, horribly
