She must have thought this would be an easy W to get her some publicity and good money. I think this was Elaine’s strategy all along, she had to know her questions were broaching attorney-client privilege (even the dumbest lawyers know this basic fact), in an effort to either squeeze out 1 or two answers she may have been able to “aha” and capitalize on, or in an effort to present to the jury that Depp’s witnesses were trying to hide facts, in fact she and Rottenborn tried and failed in this tactic in earlier parts of the trial, at several points being shut down by the judge herself. This was their plan all along, they just seemed to be a bit over confident in their own abilities and have been thrashed at almost every turn by Depp’s lawyers and hilariously in some cases by themselves like Rottemborn objecting his own question. But one of these most fundamental things any attorney worth their salt knows is to never ask a question they don’t already know the answer to with evidence to back it up such as the masterful Camille Vasquez did. Ambers attorneys have repeatedly asked questions they do not know the answers to, and have either been shut down by objections or by the witnesses themselves. I think Ambers whole thing is (which was illuminated by Dawn Hughes) banking on the stereotypical bias when it comes to men and DV, and Women as the victim. But more so lately in the past decade the stigma associated with male victims of DV is going the way of the dodo and becoming extinct. I myself was a victim of DV by my ex-wife (verbal and physical), the same woman also abused our eldest autistic child as well, and too was diagnosed with Histrionic personality disorder like Amber Heard was. It’s so easy to tell that Ambers case is a fraud as soon as you notice how much her legal team and herself go on the attack, rather than the cool, collected, informed and intelligent response Johnny and his team approached with. On one side you have a team trying to bully their way to victory, and on the other a cool and confident team relying on facts, and I dont think I need to clarify which team that is,

This is a lesson for many Lawyers to do research and be skeptical about taking on clients whose case is almost entirely lost. And yes, no matter how big that bag was, it’s not a great idea. Chances are that your career is over after publicly defending the biggest asshole on Earth.
Edit: Maybe I should qualify a bit. Yes, everyone has the right to an attorney for FREE. However, if you're a reputable lawyer who is paid almost MILLIONS to defend someone in a public, high-profile trial, you NEED to do your research as to whether this person is worth your time. How many times have really good lawyers defended people like OJ Simpson (and succeeded)? There needs to be consequences for lawyers to take on cases where someone is obviously indefensible, and the court of public opinion is the most natural consequence there is. If you're not sure what "indefensible" is, just talk to a private investigator. They'll help you.

Actually, Amber had a 99% chance of winning this case for one reason. Defamation cases are notoriously difficult to win. Amber just turned out to be that bad of a client.
All Amber had to do was not go on the stand (which is her right as the defendant, she wanted to be on that stand to get "her story" out), and when she was on the stand, not give too many details about specific incidents that could be cross-examined, and absolutely should not have brought up Kate Moss, Johnny's ex.
Then, during cross examination, she had to not justify every answer she gave with more statements as it allowed thsoe statements to be questioned.
Amber opened the door to so many lines of inquiry that otherwise would not have been made had she just said yes or no to the yes or no questions. Like how Johnny responded to "Did I read that correctly," "Yes, you did." Say as little as possible and don't elaborate unless asked specifically. Amber just wouldn't shut up.

For example if guilty person confesses his crime to his lawyer, his lawyer can't report him to authorities or use this as evidence. Well he can but he will get disbarred and court will not take this as evidence with high probability. In JD case, he refuses to answer by following his own lawyers instruction not to get disbarred and breach former client's privilege, since all the asked questions fall under lawyer-client privilege.

If the questioning had been live, it could theoretically been used to make Johnny's team look shady, but by using a deposition, this will bore the jury to tears and anger them for wasting the court's time. Not to mention that, when asked the question of what witnesses there were to testify that Heard did not show evidence of domestic abuse, Waltman mentions DOZENS of them, including, as pointed out by him, neutral parties AND close friends of Heard's. THAT part of the deposition WILL stick with the jury, as in it damages Heard's case. At the end of the day, all this did was waste the court's time, weaken Heard's case and make Heard's legal team look incompetent. It is absolutely baffling to me why Heard's team even bothered with this deposition at all.

Jokes aside, proving that you sabotaged the case is borderline impossible. That said, I believe they are not sabotaging, they are just working with little material and not knowing entire truth (AH is lying to them too for sure) they are caught off guard more than once.

Rumor is Elon Musk payed for it. And they should be one of the top legal teams when it comes to cases like this.
So, either AH is bombing them by just running her mouth about things she should not, or AH did not disclose entire truth to them so they are cough unprepared in many instances, or they just got instructions to sabotage this. Actually, now that I think about it, this is not mutually exclusive.

They were questioning one of Depp's lawyers, the questions were under Attorney-Client privilege and that means he didn't have to answer. At least it's what I understand, someone more knowledgeable might be able to add more details.

    • @xAzur3x

Basically as I understand it because the attorney has client to attorney privilege, any question that tries to discuss the nature or anything surrounding it is just instantly shut down. So Elaine just wasted their time to get a non-answer, which shows they're just trying to grasp as straws for something.
