One thing I do want to say about one tricking is that if the whole team swaps to counter one person chances are that several of them are not playing their mains and it gives more freedom to the rest of the team.
Another thing to add, if you have a one trick they are probably better at that single hero than any none one trick on the character they are playing of the same rank. Keep that in mind

I think its easier. If one-trick meets a counter and they die a lot, most people won’t like that anyway so they would swap. Not many players are ready to be bullied but when they are, they will loose and that’s will keep them in lower rank.

@@silentdc404 While I agree at high ranks, at mid to low ranks people you are unlikely to get someone who is so good with the hero that they overcome the opponents simple ability to just swap and punish their refusal to swap themselves. I also think kids who One Trick and get really good at one hero is some of the most selfish shit you can do because you will undoubtedly climb faster than most because you have less things to improve at, while simultaneously saying fuck everyone you ever get teamed with.
Ana also has a very unique posture, so even if the silhouette was wildly different, it'd still be pretty difficult to not recognise her

The issue with lower ranked players not thinking Sombra ever dies is that they never try to go kill her. You see her TP away and think "Oh cool I don't have to deal with that anymore" nobody thinks "She can't TP away right now, if I can find her she's free"
Idk I feel like most Sombra's I get in my low diamond games just kinda exist a few seconds and then don't exist for triple as long. Maybe I'm biased because I play Genji which is unironically a really good hero against Sombra, because he can peel for supports via dash and protect himself with deflect after being hacked
@@mattemathias3242exactly, if you want to get actual value on sombra you have to think about teleporting out similar to dying, ofc its preferred to tp over dying but tping after taking 30 dmg, rehacking the health pack and coming back is taking you out of the fight the same way dying does. As so someone who mains sombra I can tell you that i also started having a lot more fun after i stopped hacking healthpacks and putting my translocator on them. (And yes, genji really is a good pick against sombra)

Typically the reason why we don’t go find her (bronze here) because:
A.) we don’t have perfect “I know where the Sombra went” map awareness yet. So while we know what direction she went we don’t know exactly where to go.
B.) typically Sombra’s this low rank have their translocator rather far from the fight. They usually also don’t have great map confidence yet so they prefer to not get that close. So when they leave it feels like we sent them to “soft spawn” with the time it takes for them to get back and attack us again. Because of this even if we have an idea of where she went it will likely be a journey to get to her.
C.) somewhat related to B. But in low ranks, unless you’re a flanking character, you can’t really leave the team. I play support and if I leave my team for 5 seconds everyone will explode because they demand constant healing.( yes I know that’s not how it’s supposed to be. This is just how bronze is) I can’t go on a Sombra hunt if I wanted too.
Because of all of those factors Low rank Sombra is a support harassing fly that makes us look around like we are crazy trying to watch our back. She’s can be effective if she’s skilled at being annoying because us having to turn around to try to kill her/ make her teleport away usually results in us turning back and seeing the whole team is dead. And yes we ask for peels for our team and we let them know we are dealing with a Sombra- they still demand unbroken attention or they will explode. But yeah that’s low rank Sombra. Her only “play” is to give supports the insanity debuff and increase the odds of tilt among the team as there is a higher chance of the “Why aren’t you healing?” “I can’t heal when I’m being attacked by a Sombra- help please-“ “what Sombra? I literally never her see her she’s not an issue just heal.” argument happens. Doesn’t happen all the time but it’s Overwatch so you know.
5:40 I was playing with my friend on an alt in a plat game, and I was playing Brig. I had a Junkerqueen who was flaming me bc I wasn't playing with him. I said "it makes no difference if I play next to you, I heal you just as much at this range with my inspire and packs" and his argument was that I can help him deal damage and that would heal him more. I'm not even joking. Had the same thing with a tank on my team on King's row who was like "they're not playing dive why tf are you playing so far back, push with me you (slur)." Despite telling him I hit GM on brig and she was my best support (this was a plat lobby) he wouldn't believe me and continued to scream and cuss me out invoice chat for the entire match. I muted him very fast but according to my teammates (mostly my friends) he continued to flame and scream at me.
All of this because I played brig correctly. Proc inspire with whip, if I miss, walk up and hit 1 flail, then dash away. Throw packs as needed. She's really not difficult to play if you have even an ounce of patience or an IQ above 10. The hero is still easy, but it's not as easy as "Hold W and M1" which so many stupid people act like Brig wasn't nerfed like crazy to become an actual support and not the ultimate DPS/Tank/Support monster hero she was on release where running in 1v6 against the ememy was basically encouraged. (Im talking launch brig when she could literally 1v1 every hero in the game)
A lot of times the people that complain don’t actually know what they’re talking about. I’m a tank main and I always laugh when my teammates try to tell me what tank to play. I play tank, I know which tanks to play better than someone who doesn’t play tank lol.
A lot of people seem to want to complain no matter what. As a tank if you walk forward you’re “feeding”, if you don’t walk forward you’re not making space. If you swap to counter the enemy tank then you’re not countering their dps, if you swap to counter the dps they’ll complain that you’re not countering the enemy tank. They want you to hold the front line, but also peel for the back line, make space but also get picks. Usually the people that complain about their teammates want them to do more because they themselves aren’t doing enough and they need more help than usual.
My only question is how were you in a plat lobby if you’re a gm brig
I started to main Brig after testing out each support while I was still in bronze to see which I was best at. Thing is unlike plenty of people I haven't started to watch big names like Flats yet so my Brig play was so unorthodox that it threw people off and allowed me to climb. I would play almost as if I were the tank while the rest of my team would poke at a distance. With these nerfs they keep giving Brig it is forcing me to play slightly more passive aggressive but still I'm in the fight. Brig is really good against many of the tanks and can output plenty of damage.

And Blizzard says they didn’t want to change the skirt too much because it would ruin Kiriko’s silhouette despite the fact she has 2 skins completely without it

I really appreciate flats's take on one tricks. As a former one trick, it's annoying to play with but also annoying to be the one trick as you feel useless since if you swap you'll struggle even more. It feels validating for someone to understand that one trick players aren't trying to throw your games, just have fun the way they want to

It was a bad take, no point in trying to prolong the discussion. There's nothing about 1-tricking that has to do with throwing, you're essentially saying they're forced to play a hero they're not as good at it, so they deserved to be banned.

Sure it sucks if I get a pharah one trick getting dominated by a widow. But I'd rather them stay pharah and not swap to a character they have 0 idea on how to play. What I will say is being a one trick with some pocket characters they can play because of similar playstyles is important. So long as they're not getting shit stomped going 5-30 with a mercy pocket then I wont complain.

what if they made brig's healing aura visual, like you could see if you are within range to get the healing. Maybe a dumb take (I am gold lol) but sounds like it might be a decent change :)
Not a bad take at all, instead of players having to sit trough a tutorial and playguide they should be able to be understand things dynamically from the visuals and the gameplay of the hero.
That or some kind of hud visual. Like on lucio I don't have this issue, who you're healing is clear in the hud. I've also found brig healing to be pretty intangible.

The only times i have used translocator aggressively was when it was destroyed and i was in the middle of a team fight so i kept having to tp all over and do as much damage as I could before i got sent to spawn or my team pulled off a miracle
High level sombras use their translocator as mobility. It's neither 'agressive' nor passive. Basically in a coordinated team the sombra never leaves the fight.
Questron (sombra player) embodies this high value playstyle:

11:45 As a Doomfist one trick, I know the rodeo of an Orisa, Sombra, Ana, literally any other support, Cass comp and being yelled at to swap. The thing is, I have played against those characters so many times, I’m starting to learn ZBRA’s 6th sense, odd breakpoints, and eyes on the back of my head looking at my supports.
I love all of these, I especially love the RGB for the keyboard because mine does that too. Even when I have abilities up that specific key will flash a light color. Then when my puts up the Q will flash a deep blue and make an expanding light across the keys when I use my ult.
It's super random, but with the kiriko skin. I think people just wanted a dress version on her. Still probably holding some of the normal kiriko items like her belt and shoulder pads. Honestly, just having her skirt thingy flair out probably would have been good. But I think it being considered legendary is kinda weird? When they worked so hard on the other skins. I still like it ish? It's just disappointing. I dunno why people are still talking about it though lol.

Nah, if the characters can be turned into completely other species or into robots, Tatsumaki deserves to be an actual skin. If turning Ana into a robot still makes her recognizable, how would giving Kiriko no gloves and a dress ruin her image as "Oh, that's Kiriko."

The silhouette is literally all that matters, that’s how you can instantly recognize heroes even through walls. You can take any rein skin, any doom skin, any hog skin and any Ramattra skin, completely color them in pitch black and instantly recognize which character it is. It’s basic character design

People misunderstood what they meant back with the One Punch Man skins. It was nothing about being able to recognize the ow heroes in game. They just didn't want to fully bring the characters from the collab into overwatch. They wanted us to recognize the skins as the ow heroes doing cosplay of that IP, not as the IP character being transported into Overwatch (like what normally happens in Fortnite).
And people are misunderstanding that nobody wanted the actual OPM characters, they just wanted an actual legendary skin for her, or at least for her skin to be labeled Epic since it's just her basic skin with a wig.

My point here is exclusively about how the statement they made back then wasn't about the skins complexity or in-game readability, it was just about brand separation.

The reason they didn't give Kiriko a dress is because of the silhouette. OverWatch characters can be instantly identified by nothing but their silhouette and that's actually extremely important to gameplay. It's why you can so quickly identify an ally's outline through a wall from super far away, an enemy when they're walled, or either from a quick glance on the edge of your screen. His examples are garbage because, like Ana's mythic skin, the actual silhouette is almost exactly the same.
I think the keyboard is called signalrgb, they have lights for peripherals and your pc too that all sync. Custom animations for different heroes in different games like Apex and Valorant too.

With kiri I'm in the difficult position of - I spent too much to get the Athleisure skin (the floral one), but I think the Rogue skin I got for free looks cooler.
Also the tiktok is off base considering ana and kiri BOTH have omnic skins. ana's is just more well known because you get it through battle pass.
Not to mention the hair on the Kiri OPM skin does more to change her silouette than the Ana omnic skin does.

What’s worse than one tricks is the people who are flexible and choose to take the one tricks hero. Been happening to me quite a bit lately.
I had that happen to me yesterday the dude didn’t wanna swap off widow dispite his play time being a straight rainbow line and mine just being purple and white I was forced to play someone I haven’t touched in seasons and would ya look at that we got rolled

As you'll notice Sombra has the absolute *lowest* value at 6.38. The only other two characters with fewer than 7.0 deaths/10 would be Torb/Pharah.
You'll also notice Cass has the absolute *highest* value at 8.43. Compared in a vacuum these numbers seem somewhat close but then you realize every other dps in the game goes between them. Also, when you actually compare them proportionally and realize Sombras are only dying approximately every 94 seconds (10 mins x 60 secs / 6.38 = 94.04.... seconds/death) while Cassidys are dying approximately every 71 seconds (same math), it paints a different picture than "just 2 deaths".
Since I did it, I'll also post the Support/Tank Deaths per 10 below for added comparison for anybody curious.

As you'll see...the ONLY hero in the game with a worse average death per minutes (in the last 3 months at a GM level) is Doomfist at 8.66.
And when we compare the other numbers to Sombra, only Zarya/D.VA (obviously D.VA cause of remech) have better averages for Tanks and 7/10 Supports have better averages (though some are quite close like Moira and Bap).
So yes, saying that Cass and Sombra should have the same number of deaths per 10 minutes is insane and is not a valid statement.

I feel as if you're lacking severe literacy issues and thats not your fault. Some people have bad upbringings but please prefer to the whole "usually average". No one said "sombra SHOULD have 80 deaths just the same as cassidy grrrr" Just that they average the same. Sure, theyre not the EXACT same, but a 2 death difference is quite literally within the average of similarity. Especially considering she has an escape and cassidy does not.

Street fighter 6 is relatively new but it's tutorial not only teaches you all the game mechanics in depth, but it teaches you game theory for how to be competitive in fighting games as a whole. I can't even give new fighting game players much more beginner advice then what the tutorial teaches. Overwatch and other game should take notes on that because not only does it help new players learn the game and help people appreciate the depth of game you've made but when people understand the games they are playing better, they are more encouraged to try and improve and stick with the game when they actually understand what it means to "get better"

The guy at the end had no idea what he was talking about. The one most important aspect of character recorgnizability in games like overwatch is their silhouettes. As long as that stays consistant there should be no problem with recorgnizing characters
Honestly we need to have real hero mastery missions to be like a tutorial for certain characters. Not the bs that we have now that is just shooting training bots. For example, brigs could take you across a few maps, where you need to control high ground and hit your whip shots to deflect incoming Winston's, potentially ending with an escort mission with an NPC ana.

I was really hoping that hero mastery was going to teach people how to play heroes.
watching LIP play sombra in ranked changed my view on translocator. Although he certainly uses it to get out to a health pack or to his healers, he also uses it to take highground midfight and other strong positions. Definitely not a tool to "aggress" with primarily as in teleport on top of squishies but certainly a useful mobility and not only a preplanned recall.

This might be an uncommon thing- I know I'm the only one in my gaming group that really does it- but does anyone else completely ignore what skins characters are using? Like if it's pointed out I can recognize the skin just fine but I only know which character I'm fighting based on 10% their posture, 10% how their projectiles look when approaching me(since many projectiles have different speeds, arcs, ect.), and the other 80% I figure out what characters I'm facing completely on sound play. Every character has a distinct set of footsteps, their weapons have specific sounds when fired, you also hear different voice lines from them all the time. This might be something I started doing because of bad eyesight but I rely very little on how things in the game look- which is also why OW2 was so difficult to get used to because a lot of heroes had their weapon sounds changed.

Only issue I've got with one tricks is when they flame the team over things that either they should be doing, shouldn't be doing, or can't do because of their hero. And example for Reinhardt would be:
*Complaining about dying to Ana nades when they don't raise their shield before or after being hit.
*Complaining about dying to a Bastion's shift when they're nowhere near any cover.
*Complaining about dying to a Junk on height when they refuse to swap or flank to deal with it.

The only time Id say reporting a One Trick is valid is if they purposely throw because someone ELSE chose the hero they one trick.
Its rare but it happens.
Okay that Ana skin does take me an extra second to identify so he's not completely wrong. Maybe if you're a high ranked veteran you can tell just as quick, but a faceless robot is a far cry from the cloaked ana I'm used to visually identifying.
It's not as bad as games like siege where you can get one tapped.

The last clip, the only skin that changes the shape slightly is Genji and thats only because they made him super buff. No one uses that skin though its kind of trash tier.
The Ana one is exactly her shape, now yes its not that great. From F-S its probably around a B but it still gives the Ana the same shape and size so they aren't confusing when it comes to muscle memory to know how to hit them. You will easily identify its Ana and she will arch slightly when scoped in.
That kiriko situations about her skin for the one punch collab is insane and dumb af, literally brain dead intake about her one punch skin. XD XD XD XD

Look at the Terrible Tornado and the Kiriko skin side by side and they're damn near identical. Like there's not much to on there, it's a black dress with multiple slits. That last one is such a reach.

I was once flamed when playing brig because in the neutral fight when there was no reason to shield I would just hold M1, because why not? This dude got so fucking mad at me because he thought I was doing it because I was under the wrong impression that this is how Brig heals... Like... what?
