If anyone says “OW2 didn’t need PvE” or “There are better PvE games out there” that isn’t the point. OW1 has a dry spill while OW2 was in development for like 3 years and then OW2 released without its main selling point. The PvE is what would’ve made OW2 feel like a sequel instead of “The Biggest Patch in History.” It not coming is almost a spit in the face of everyone who waited for it and wanted to play OW2 for the PvE.
yeah no the people saying ow2 didn't need pve are full of shit. Without PVE there's no reason for ow2 to even exist other than to be a money making machine from the battlepass.

The overwhelming majority of people just want to play a game to have fun. Some of us work (or school in some form, for that matter) all day and don't want to work when we're at home playing a game at night as well. We just want to relax and play.
Back in the day, fun was the undeniable ground state of gaming. Now, the ground state is getting more and more like work and grind.
When I played OW it was mostly just for fun, but I also liked to dabble in Competitive a little since being in a team of mostly-equivalent players in terms of skill against another equal team appeals to me. Stomping a match because you got a lucky team in QP just isn't exciting or fun to me. But I'm not gonna waste hours of my life to get an ego boost and try to get like masters in 2 weeks. I'm currently in gold and that's fine for me, though with how long I've been playing (since 2016), and only now trying comp I feel like I'm probably at least plat in terms of skill and game sense, maybe low diamond if I were to sweat my heart out since the gameplay I see of comp matches in those ranks really doesn't look that different from how I play. So yes, play because it's fun but there's definitely some fun to be had in comp, it's not all just playing to improve.

Unless that person is 10 years old and doesn’t know about games before esports, they 100% played games for fun when they were younger, or saw others playing for fun. Flats, please, Kiriko's EPIC quality/priced Visual K skin has more detail than her Tatsumaki skin, with similar changes. New hair, thigh highs on her legs, rather than tights, and a new color pallet that ISN'T flat black. You can like it all you want, that's all gucchi, but it's 100% not worthy of being called a Legendary. It's about as worthy as Moira's mime skin.
On top of that, we have countless higher quality Epics, even some released in OW2.
Think it’s considered a “legendary” skin cause it’s a colab skin and by default colab skins are automatically legendary if you can buy them in the shop. Could be wrong though

I dont wanna stress myself out to be a perfect player for my team and then get yelled at for just playing a character. All i want is have fun, make friends and enjoy the game while its still here. 14:20 Lets remember that echo wasnt even announced as a release for Ow1. Sigma was supposed to be the last. Then they decided to move echo from Ow2 to Ow1 (april 2020) because of all the crap that was going on at the time regarding overwatch (Blitzchung controversy, october-december 2019).
2019 was already considered dead regarding overwatch content, halfway through the year. They released 2 heroes before June, and then said there wouldnt be any more heroes until Ow2 release, which was announced at that year's blizzcon.

On the flipside, making a copout for laziness in the design for a skin by saying "it fits the LoRe" when the game JUST cancelled the most lore intensive mode is almost as tone deaf as Blizzard. It's a lazy skin; whether it looks good or not to anyone is subjective, but the effort to fit Tatsumaki is not there at all, especially for 20+ dollars.

Jared and Jon did a podcast with SVB and specifically said that they weren’t pulling resources from PvE to make PvP and vice versa. So I guess that was a lie because their excuse has always been that they have to focus on one or the other.
Moira is essentially empty stats in high ranks. I've seen moiras with 12k+ healing and 7k+ damage and their team gets absolutely stomped. And yes, this has happened to me and against me
i straight up don't care about the pve hero missions and stuff being cancelled since that's not what I play the game for, I just don't care for it. but it really does suck that it happened, and is very confusing how 4 years of deveopement from a biuig company yeilds no results, as far is it seems they made 1 showcase and stopped edvelopement after that

I hate to say this but they don't need more content they need to refine the content they have, every new character is completely unbalanced, and the old characters are basically either unplayable as meta, too strong, or only picked to counter meta
You should care because they lied to us for 6 months (let's be honest, it was longer than that), pumped a lot of resources into it which half of it was wasted, and was the entire reason Overwatch 2 started (which I don't have the explain the disaster and removed feature this caused to the game). Stop mindlessly ignoring Blizzard's mistakes just because you "don't care". And so many people wonder why we have so many broken games on release these days...
The sad thing is that they have the basics for PvE in game, but wont expand on it. Their plan from the start was obviously the battle pass and shop. They had no true plans for PvE.

I feel bad for the hyper competitive guy towards the end who doesn't understand people can just play games for fun.
My cynical theory is that the dev team couldn’t figure out a good way to monetize the PvE skill trees, so they were told to cut it since Actiblizz wasn’t going to see a ROI with it.
Actiblizz genuinely only care about money now, and if an idea gets brought to the table that isn’t going to actively make money, then it isn’t worth doing at all.
Not just that, OW2 wanted to dominate the esports industry, but Bobby Kotick knows that people don't want to pay money to watch players shoot at NPCs.
Overwatch promising that the years without any new content for ow would be worth it and then leaving us behind is like you telling ur friends to wait for u to tie ur shoe and then dipping

To be honest, I absolutely don't care about the pve content in overwatch 2. But it makes me wildly angry that, in fact, Blizzard hasn't done anything for 4 years. They have been doing PVE for 4 years, which will not happen, and PVP at this time suffered like no one else. It was a game with huge potential and development paths, but the developers killed it.
P.S: Even in overwatch 1, new heroes came out and they were broken in a good or bad way. So what prevents them from just releasing new heroes at least once a month, to begin with, just in a casual mod, collect data from MILLIONS of players who will already play on it and make him the right patch? And it seems to me that absolutely no one, that's no one at all, will be upset if we get the plot of the character and his story not immediately, but just after 3-4 months.
No it was never the dev teams fault for this they said in the announcement that they scrapped it basically when the game came out this is all on the higher ups

Was playing ram and having a 1v1 against the enemy rein. Their rein was easily under 100 hp and i had only been hit once, then our LW decides to pull me into the enemy orisa ult that’s at full charge and i get destroyed 😭
It’s always situations like that or the LW is such a non-factor in the match it becomes 4v5

Last night I was about to get a 4k because they were all backed into a corner surrouned by mines... Right before I rolled into them, I got pulled away. I was on 250 health, adaptive shield was available, and no one was even looking my way.

About Moira:
Individually speaking, her effectiveness exclusively depends on your playstyle. If your playstyle is passive and not constantly value-seeking, then yes she'll be bad in higher ranks cus you're not playing into her strengths, and a hero like Ana offers more baseline value from passive predictable comfortable playstyles most players are used to (not to say that's how you play Ana optimally either, you just get more value from suboptimal plays if you play Ana or Kiriko, than you do with Moira in higher ranks).
The reason Moira isn't picked in pro play, is EXCLUSIVELY because she doesn't offer any ability synergy with the team comps that are meta. She has been picked on occasion in full-team dive (more frequently seen in Asia teams for semi pro / contenders), but in general she herself doesn't contribute to a synergy-based win condition built around team work, and since pro scene is 90% teamwork and 10% individual hero potential, that's why she isn't picked. If you play an individualist playstyle in the pro scene you will get farmed no matter what hero you play. But ranked ladder is forced to be individualist no matter what, so here your hero pick doesn't detract from the team synergy value nearly as much as in pro play.
Compare apples to apples, guys. And learn the fundamentals of the game before forming broader opinions.
I'm not experienced enough at the game to know if you're right or wrong but I respect your thorough explanation.
@@Ahmad_Jihad Moira is great at letting you control the potential for value and influence you have in a match, from her quick access to offensive pressure and mobility letting her take chances and opportunities other supports simply can't afford to do. It's also easy to throw with her if you don't respect your limitations, but her kit is centered around seeking impactful pressure more than anything else. Picking Moira for heals on the other hand, especially in high ranks, is a trap that leaves most of her potential unused.

Moira is literally half damage half heal, you have to get value out of her damage as well as her fast heals, knowing when to do which and having the game sense and strategic knowlege of the maps and hero abilities should enable you to apply pressure and get kills with your team as well as heals, but I think she is hard to play because she needs constant decisions and there is no known go-to strategy to play her as far as I know
As a software developer, personally nothing feels worse than spending hundreds of hours working on a project that is SICK as hell, and then being told it isn't going to be released.

OW2 PVE content is pretty much: you order a delivery of an amazing, juicy burger from a posh place, excitedly wait for it to arrive, you open the box and find a McDonalds cheeseburger inside.
The real Overwatch PVE was the friends we made along the way...

I think one of the most devastating things about the PvE cancellation for me is;
I’m sure many people would LOVE to drop playing Overwatch 2. It’s empty. There is nothing there anymore. They used to justify everything being so expensive by saying it would be used for PvE development, and maybe it WAS when it was actually still being worked on, but what do we have now? I’d love to stop playing Overwatch 2. The community is repulsive, you can’t go one ranked match without some idiot spamming slurs in the chat because their moderation system is dogshit, skins are overpriced, the battle pass is useless, most events are terrible, and the matchmaking is downright pathetic.
But how can I leave when, between cosmetics and battle passes, I’ve spent over $200?? I can’t just drop something I’ve invested so much time and money into. Part of me thinks this was Blizzard’s plan along, to get their playerbase to over-invest in empty promises, so that then they’ll want to cling on to the franchise to get their money’s worth of content. I’m sure a lot of us feel this way. We’ll never be able to trust Blizzard/Activision again. I feel bad for the developers too. They worked really hard on it, just to have the whole project cancelled.

That guy said “do you just want to play against other bots?” Yes, yes I do. I just made a new Fortnite account to play with my friend. Neither of us really play ever. I’m pretty sure both our hours combined wouldn’t even be a tenth of what either of us had in overwatch. Fortnite puts new accounts in bot lobbies so they don’t get crushed immediately. We quickly won the first two games and it was so much fun, being able to just goof around try to kill each other, almost kill my self testing out that purple mythic in a gas station, just having fun. After those two games the difficulty was upped immensely, we haven’t won a game since and we’ve played probably around 10. Now we wound dare do anything fun or stupid because if we aren’t at full no we will just lose the next fight. The game just quickly becomes really stressful and I have enough stress in my life, I don’t need it in video games too.
I know they say that the campaign isn't canceled... but we are also not getting the campaign experience that we were promised...
Beyond not knowing if they will let you play it after the season is done.... we will be getting the same story over years instead of all at once... without the Hero progression...
And who is to say we are going to end up with the extensive missions they were planning? Or will we only get a streamlined version of it...

Gaming especially in FPS games and the like are meant to be BOTH fun and competitive. Quickplay is intended to be a more casual version of competition similarly to how pick up basketball is casual but still competitive. Are you supposed to be as competitive in QP as you are in Comp games? No. But you still are supposed to work as a team to accomplish the objective and have fun in BOTH modes.
This seems to be such a difficult concept that people can't seem to figure out.
and that's why people were so hyped for PvE; finally a mode where all that shit you just talked about can be shelved or thrown out completely, if you like the characters, but dislike PvP. oops, too bad for them, it's now cancelled.
