    It's not a secret. The man worked out like a maniac. While you did an hour or 2 of training, Bruce was on quadruple (or more) hours and looking to keep going. The so-called "secret" is discipline.

    • @johndough8115
      @johndough8115 Před rokem

      No offense, but this is very Basic level stuff, that any Chinese Martial Arts practitioner should know. My old Wing Chun school had 2hr long classes, 4x a week. The entire 1st hour, was a hardcore CORE workout. Part of this was: 3 sets of 100 crunches, followed immediately by slow-movement leg lifts, and leg spins (circles the size of basketball, in both directions, for a set amount of rotations). That leg lift and spin routine, lasted a good +3 min... and right after you burned the heck out of your abs, on those 3 different crunch-type sets. Then 3 sets of specialized pushups..
      Vertical fists pushups (knuckles on the concrete floor), with both your fists in the Center of your body. This puts you much higher up, giving a much longer travel path... and it forces you to balance your mass in the center.. making it similar in difficulty, to a Single-Armed pushup. Each of these Wing Chun pushups were done in slow-motion... about +10 seconds down, and +10 seconds Up. A single set of slow mo's were typically to 15. Next set was a combination of down slow, up fast (or reversed). And the 3rd set, was "diamonds".
      There was some stretching in the mix as well. And even after all of that... the class would often have other brutal drills. Such as double arm chopping, as fast as possible... for a full 60 seconds. If you think that doesnt sound bad... try it. About 35 seconds in... and your arms feel like lead weights... and your overall speed reduces by nearly half. By 45 seconds... your arms are on fire.. and you can barely move them a Quarter of the initial speed... and struggle with all your might... not to drop your arms and rest.
      We have a high-horse stance, that was done almost the entire 2nd half of the class. You bent your Knees, to the point where they are directly over the toes. Beginners can only handle being in this stance for about 45 seconds, before having to straighten their legs. Eventually you get to the point where it no longer bothers you, even with an hour of use without ever coming out of it.
      There were other typical exercises, like squats, burpees, and wheel-barrel walking.
      In one class, we had an entire class partner drill... which went on nonstop for about 20 min. One person would be doing rolling punches for 10 min, while the other would be blocking for 10 min... and then roles would swap. These were quick... so you are taking thousands of reps, after all is said and done. Trying to maintain the same energy, vector, accuracy, speed..etc.. for a full 20 min.. is no joke.
      Thing is... All Chinese arts operate the same way... by keeping the spine vertical, with very strict body alignments / positions.
      It goes to the next level, when you are speaking about "Internal" arts. Wing Chun itself, is supposed to be trained like an Internal art.. though, many do it incorrectly.
      With internal arts, you learn to barely use enough muscle force to keep your body / limbs upright. Then you do these incredibly slow moving motions (form), over the course of an entire Hour long session. You learn to connect your entire relaxed body mass, as if it is one whole unit. Due to the very long time period.. and the lack of using muscle tension to maintain things... your Joints, tissues, and spinal system... get insanely stressed. This high stress causes you to develop Super Elastic, yet Super STRONG tendons and connective tissues. This creates a whole other level of bodily strength, and output performance... that no other method can replicate. There is like a page worth of other benefits as well.. but I dont want to spend the 20 min to type them all out.

      @@johndough8115 can i search what type of training like this on google or can you tell me the details? I actually wanna perform better and this comment really helps to get the basics. So how should one train in order to have that internal arts?

    • @johndough8115
      @johndough8115 Před rokem

      @@MesmerazianHPutra These days, the highest level knowledge, is rarely ever in one single location. There has been a lot of corruption, and losses, over the past several centuries.
      For Internal Arts, you can find some videos that might describe the methods... but until you feel them in-person... you still might never really understand what is happening.
      As such, its best to at least seek a few Internal arts practitioners / teachers, and request a demonstration. Most of us, are more than willing to do a demo, for those that are respectful and honestly seeking to further their martial arts progression.
      Also, while there are some things that artists reveal.. such as Iron Body conditioning methods... there are many things that artists often never fully reveal online. They may only reveal these details in class... as you earn them.
      And obviously, even if someone manages to acquire higher level knowledge... its a whole other thing, to actually developing that knowledge into masterclass level output. (actual working technique)
      To do so, requires several years of daily hardcore efforts. At least 4 hrs minimum, per day.. IMO. It has to become a daily way of life.
      In my case, Ive had 3 different teachers, and each of them had something unique to teach... that helped fill some of the pieces of the puzzle. I also cross trained and sparred with many different artists.. as well as read books, watched instructional videos, and more. All of this helped me to figure out things that I was missing, as I kept progressing. Eventually I would test each thing / difference, and make sure what I learned, and mastered.. could be applied by me, effectively (and often if I failed, Id eventually realize that it was due to my own flaws in execution).

    You are right about the CORE.
    MIND-MUSCLE is wrong term since MIND = BODY, therefore MUSCLE.
    MUSCLE-SPIRIT, SPIRIT-MUSCLE.
    Isometrics are the key to realize what and how to use.
    I'll make a video soon ;)

      Don’t do that mate - instead check out Harry Wong workout ( based on Lee’s isometrics)
      Look up on YT or buy yourself an isobow, I think they are around $20 or simply make one .
      Your strength will go through the roof and muscles will look more aesthetically pleasing.
