At least once a day I find myself getting a little bit of road rage as I watch drivers in the United States make terrible driving decisions. Tailgate, no blinker, running stop signs - you name it we have it. However across the pond I found none of these things in the heart of driving discipline - Germany. The Autobahn is an incredible road system where the pavement is perfect, and the drivers are also near perfect. We also head to the Eagle's Nest in Austria, and the amazing Red Bull Hangar 7! Thank you for watching and have a great day!

Another thing that I noticed that you were constantly driving in the passing lane, this is a big NO NO in Germany. It is only used for passing cars in the middle lane. Once you have passed the cars in the middle lane, move over and if there is room in the slow lane get over there as well. This is the law here!

    • @suprafahrer6453
      @suprafahrer6453 Před 6 lety +49

A lot of the statements that you make are not entirely true, passing on the right is against the law you are correct, but people still do it. All divers in Germany are required to go to a Fahrschule Aka Driving School, where they are required to learn how to drive everywhere, but the biggest problem in Germany I would say now is that they have gotten to be so Americanized driving while talking on the phone, not using a turn signal, passing on the right, going slow in the middle lane etc.. There are fines for these offenses and they aren't cheap, the driving with a cell phone just recently went up to 200€. There are designated stationary Blitzern or speed cameras setup that catch everybody speeding except the locals that are aware of them, one picture of your license plate and the other of your face! Speed cameras will also be setup up spontaneously at an undisclosed location where people normally tend to speed where they are well hidden, once noticed people will either brake in front of you or oncoming traffic will flash their high beams warning you of speed trap cameras, another note as fast as you are driving on the autobahn you need to have a much greater distance behind the car in front of you then you do in this video. Foreigners and tourists need to learn the rules before thinking they know how to drive on the Autobahn where all speed limits are not unlimited!

I have been doing 200 kmh with my Audi A3...
but yeah driving fast comes quite natural on the german Autobahn.
Most important: allways keep the allowed speed and keep a save distance. (tailgateing is a high fined crime in Germany)
Always use your turn signals, while changing lanes (it's not for you, but the others on the road).
Always adapt your speed to the circumstances:
Ask yourself: Is there much trafic?, how are other drivers behaving? are there any crazy/insecure/untrained drivers, with slow reactions (high risk drivers)? how is the weather? how far in front of you you can see (breakingdistance is quite long), are there curves ahead you can't see well around (seldom on the autobahn, but still).
ALWAYS: keep as right as possible! only go left to pass a slower car on your lane. check your back mirror for faster ones while changeing lanes and when on leftest lane (on the leftest lane you have to change back to the right lane, if someone faster then you comes!
Dont drive fast if all lanes in front of you are filled, keep distance.
On a guod day you have the Autobahn practically for your self, on other days, there won't be a possibility to drive fast. don't push it, just because you want to drive fast.
keeping that in mind and you gonna have fun on the Autobahn.

That's a brilliant idea. I feel like there's also a mentality of "I won't ever get into an accident, only everyone else will" so you have people texting and driving, not paying attention, and just being unaware and dangerous. If people actually knew what being in a crashing car felt like, I think they'd have a different point of view.
Side note, I once called someone out for looking at her phone more then the road. She almost hit me 3 or 4 times, almost hit another car a few times, and still tried to cuss me out for telling her what to do. Fucking people are terrible and entitled as fuck

As someone who has lived in the Netherlands for the first 25 years of his life I can tell you Americans as a rule can't drive. And it is all because of driver education. The lack of proper driver education creates the drivers you have in the US. If you can get your license by driving around in a 30mph residential area and parallel parking you have an issue. Simple concepts as move over after passing is lost, and looking further ahead than the car in front of you? Forget about that. And then there is the phone usage that turns idiots into absolute morons. But, everyone that watches this channel has a passion for driving, speed and having fun with cars. As such they exhibit none of those crap traits. So this rant? Will get a lot of nods but falls short of reaching those that it should reach.

That reply wasn't for you. Especially after reading your statements in which you can't make a point without calling people names. But I'll bite.
You are not forced to pay for driving school where I am originally from. You are only "forced" to pay for it if you want a drivers license. Much like when you want a degree from a school. Current costs in the Netherlands? For the average driver ~1200 euros all in. 30 hours of behind the wheel tuition, one theoretical and one practical exam. If you aren't a quick study it will take more money, if you are it will be less. You can be done for as little as 700 euros while still retaining 15 hours of behind the wheel tuition. After that you'll know what to do and what to expect. Safety is worth that.
But what I gather from your ill informed replies to others, you feel it isn't a luxury (=privilidge) but a necessity (=right) so it needs to be cheap / free. You know what kind of person thinks the same way? A socialist. *mic drop*

The reason the Europeans have smooth roads, is because of a word that gives Americans a heart attack: it's called "TAX"
But if your country doesn't spent 985 BILLION Dollar (each year) on military stuff, your roads could be just as smooth as the European roads......
Or.....your government could add a small tax on fuel, let's say 25 cents a gallon, and if they really put that tax money on the maintenance of the roads, again, smooth roads.

The population density is way lower, so a larger motorway network is being paid for by fewer tax payers, as a result, highways simply can not be up to the same standard as motorways in rich European countries like Germany, it would take too much money out of the tax pool.
Granted, the US military expenses are ridiculous.

    • @epitronic515

I don't think that their military eats up their roads. That's more of a political statement. If they had less to pay for their military (which for them is neccesary to feed their main industry and commerce), that money would go to health insurance and other social parchutes that these people over there just don't have. Also education would help them. They have the most decorated universities of the world, but the majority of the "great minds" there are international. It is way easier for a middle-class-citizen to lose his job and become homeless in a country where the population is used as slaves an guinnea pigs for the big corporations. As a kid, I always wanted to live there. Nowadays I realize that I would give up a lot of basic human rights which I always took for granted if I chose to migrate to the U.S. "America IS the land of liberty.......IF you are friggin rich!" When I will be stinking rich some day, I will move there. That country was made for rich people, while Germany is for the people...

Did you ever use the right sight of the autobahn. Didn`t see that in your video. Your seating position is wrong and only looking cool. When you are in stress, your shoulders are no more touching the seat.Your arms are stretched to much, so you can´t handle the steering wheel in case of emergency. Thanks for the documentation What when you get in drouble, your are not able to react in a propper way. When you double the speed your holdingway is 4 times longer. And you ride behind a porsche at 200kmh with about 25 m. Do you know how long your brakingway is at 200kmh, not counting the time to react on a situation. How to figure that out while on the road? No good behavior. I love driving fast when possible with tops over 240kmh. I do that for almost 25 years, without an accident. How comes that? I learned from Pros and done alot of training courses. This would be a good experience for you. 300kmh on a straight road is what everybody can, if you got the car. Sorry that critic. You survived. So far so good, nobody hurt, nobody crying. And the American in a Ferrari does not leave enough of a gap when following the Porsche at high speed. Yet, he mentions the discipline of others. It's called driver education. Getting your license in Germany or Switzerland is expensive and there a lot of rules to learn and follow. That's why it works.
It would work in the states as well if you would have proper driving education and stricter rules.

Sorry if my comments are harsh, there not meant to be, they are fact. When your girlfriend told you to just go for it through the yellow traffic light and you don't hesitate during a yellow signal is again not true. Here you are required to slow down and stop at a yellow signal, a lot of people run the yellow signal whilst the traffic light changes to red making the driver a danger. There is a huge fine for red light runners, and after two or more seconds even more, and if the runner endangers a pedestrian crossing the road, it's license Bye Bye time.

We are the country of cars because of the 50's cruising culture. Back then it was the time to be a car guy, that's how you picked up girls. Watch the movie, "American Graffiti", if you want to see a good representation of 50's car culture.
Nowadays the driver education is just garbage, although people here are fairly respectful (Outside of major cities), they just don't understand etiquette. As a car guy in America we try to be the upholders of etiquette and try to always be very respectful while driving even when we have fun. Although people think it is fun to invade streets and do burnouts and reckless things without first making sure nobody is around and that it is "safe."
The reason there is backlash from Americans on these videos is because the population of people who watch these are car guys and they know the etiquette but they hate when arrogant people trash the country. We learn the drivers etiquette ourselves and yes we want there to be more teaching of etiquette, yet we know lawmakers care more about restricting saying something that may offend somebody over making roadways safer.

      @Mtaalas Před 3 lety

@@dajo1373 It's not really in culture since the country isn't built FOR a car exlusively. Their cities are easily walkable, public transport works really well and car is just a "nice to have, not necessary".. I live in Finland where the city planning is the same: you need to be able to walk to places and cars aren't end all be all.

    • @unconventionalideas5683

@@Mtaalas Many American Cities are more like this than Europeans imagine. In fact, the proportion of legally eligible people who chose to hold a valid drivers' license in the US has declined continually from its peak in 1983, but the rate of this decline has dramatically increased since 2008. Sports cars of all kinds have declined in sales and in interest to such low levels that there are serious rumblings about pulling the plug on iconic models like the Corvette and the Mustang from the US market because nobody seems to want them, and it's not necessarily worth the expense and hassle of selling them. Cars have, in the minds of most young Americans especially, become transportation appliances, and if you need one, fine, but if not, good, because you save money.

    Three simple rules:
    - keep space to the car on your front at least half the speed you are going (100 km/h mean 50 meters space or more)
    - drive on the right side where possible (even if you have an Maserati, there might be someone who would like to go faster than you and overtaking is only allowed on the left, so let them pass)
    - respect the safety distance of other drivers, do not turn into their lane so that they need to brake to meet the "half the speed" requirement (fees for tailgating are pretty high, over a specific limit your license is taken away for a while, and as a german you get points in a points system - points as in negative points)

Technically it's not even FROM Austria it's simply HQ'd there, originally it's from Thailand

Alexander Ramirez well I know the story. Red bull founder saw taxi drivers in Thailand drinking a drink to stay awake. I was wrong my whole life. I even asked an Australian if they have been to the Red bull factory.

The "original" redbull is quite different tho, still get em in Thailand in those small glass bottles. Its like concenrated redbull.
Pretty sure one of those would keep an elephant awake

You need to go to JP Performance in Drotmund. Propably one of the best known tuners here in Germany. He has a channel too ; ) (jpperformance)

Anthony B. In Germany any mod is illegal unless TUV approves it. You can't even change your tire size without aprovel. So Germans do mostly cosmetic work.

MIKE192rotary yeah thats right😒 But most of his cars have performance tuning (r35 gtr with 1000hp, r34 with 1000hp), some even engine swaps (5cyl audi, e36 with v8...) He has like 20 or more cars...

I wonder who will sue Red Bull first when the link is established between their fizzy, sugary and salty drinks and obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes!

That's not true. Red Bull was founded in Austria. But the drink was invented in Japan. Later this drink was sold in Thailand with a different name. The founder of Red Bull imported this drink with a more "euopean" Name. That's all.

Speaking of the Eagles Nest there were a few changes of course.
One major change was the elevator. It was originally lined with GOLD. Someone removed it and it was replaced with a much cheaper lining.
