I'm refurbishing a Honda TRX70 72cc engine and rebuilding this pull start to go with it. The spring install is a challenging aspect of the rebuild, so I figured I would show how to do it all. Sorry, no easy tricks to getting the spring back in, just determination/persistance to get it done.

Somebody should invent an adapter for a cordless drill / driver and be done with the rope-spring contraption.
Is it mandatory to preload the spring 2 turns? Or will 1 turn be enough? My new spring had a wire band holding in in prewind. Can I just leave the wire on , set the spring in place and the cut the wire that holds it in prewind? By the way, nice video. Thanks
Good video man what is the model number for that ATC 90 recoil? I have 86 70 and that little slider ratchet gear broken the things of Fortune from Honda if you can even find it. Any information would be appreciated thanks man.
There is a much easier way to assemble those TRX70 Recoils.
They are the weakest recoil of all the Honda ATV recoils mfg. The plastic Honda used became brittle with age and heat, the spool and grabber dog crack/break.

What size spring is it
Did you remove the black cover before painting? If so, how does it come off?
It has a metal tang inside housing that uses adhesive/melted plastic to keep the emblem cover place. Remove that buildup of adhesive/melted plastic and then pull plastic cover off housing

Does anyone where I can get all the parts needed to rebuild. I only have the cover with the Honda logo. There is nothing inside. Looked on eBay but only see ATC, and Polaris. Nothing for the (1986) TRX 70.
Going to be difficult to find all those parts for a trx70 pullstart. Best thing to do is buy a complete one or convert to trx90 pullstart
